I really appreciate old oak trees. I live in the New Orleans area of Louisiana, and we have several ancient oak trees estimated to be between 500 and 900 years old. They're spectacular, still mostly healthy, and easy to find and visit as well. Cheers!

The European oak (Quercus robur) you see from 1:12 has an estimated age from 500 to 600 years. Most reasonable is an age of 530 years, so 1495 was its origin as a sapling. It is a ‘Maiden oak’, never pruned by any human in 500 years. This is what trees are able to do when humans don’t touch them. A truly Majestic Tree!

It might be the oldest oak, it’s nowhere near the oldest tree, there are Yews over 2,000 years old and a couple of them may be up to 5,000 years old.
