+Cowboy The Service Dog In Training you go on their website and fill out the "application" they'll look at it, and if they see you're a legit team, you get a discount.
Caroline and Chloe I'm transferring to a new university with my service dog who is very new to the job, your videos have been SO helpful! Are you going to make more?
I just saw the channel you were subbed to and I can't believe you're a Frey Life member!! I don't know anyone who watches them. Mary and Peter are like good friends, Ollie is the best. I would love to meet you one day (and give you a pink harness)
Omg I love how your dog break every single thing about staffs in general.... She is breaking rules and social thoughts about these "fight breed" love her and you so much ❤❤❤ I know my grammar is terrible but I am trying 😂 I am not native English speaking person so sorry
I'm thinking about considering a service dog for my severe GAD, depression, minor sensory autism type situation (it's more of just a tic or something but I don't know how to word it lol), and panic attacks. Great video!!
Thank you for your time and knowledge about these items! I'm trying to get hooked up with Louie and Lucy's items, but am having a difficult time finding them. Hope you're doing well. THANK YOU again for giving me a heads up of items that are worth the cost and items that would be better to go ahead and get the better quality for a bit extra cost.
My SDiT is very extra lol and needs a lot of gear But if you have a Belgian Malinois or German shepherd a tactical vest looks awesome on them I use a -Mobility harness -tactical vest -regular (I’m obsessed with dog gear lol)
Hey, I just recently subscribed....forgot im on my husband's account. I am really wanting to train my new puppy we rescued from the human society in our area and I am doing a lot of research on training her myself. There isn't a lot of psychiatrists/psychologists and I have been in a merry-go-round with my medications. I really believe she can help me with a lot of my habits/behaviors I do when my anxiety or depression goes against my medications. My meds are ok where they are, I just think I could use the extra help because I am finding it hard to do the many things I need to do without chewing my fingers off or freaking out on people.....sorry for the long post.....Anyways, ya'll are great and I intend to keep up with your videos!! :)
Im also a service dog handler! my sdit, Paxton is nine months old and training for mobility. We're also super cheap so I love that you included prices!
I'm glad I stumbled upon your Channel and I'm happy about you and your service dog there are so many fraudulent people out there trying to pass their pets for service dogs enjoy her she's adorable
Hey Caroline! Thank you for posting these kinds of videos. I'm beginning with my service dog next week and I'm also a college sophomore so it's really relieving to see that it can be done in college (I had some major nerves about starting). I'm also thinking about starting my own channel for service dog stuff, and if you have any tips on youtube, service animal stuff, or college with a service animal that would be greatly appreciated!
Love your videos! I really want that leash now, Would enjoy seeing more about what it is like having a service dog while in college (I'm a college student myself looking into getting one) Wish you guys the best!
Check out Louie and Lucy's (@louie.and.lucys on Instagram) if you like the leash! She makes them custom😊 we should be making more videos soon! Thank you for watching!
Hi Caroline! I love your videos. I just wanted to say to never encourage people to "yank" on any type of head collar (the hot pink one). Doing that can cause neck injuries and is considered improper use of the material. It's better to gently guide the dog back towards you to get their attention which is easy since you have control of their head. :)
Yes, thank you! I've learned that since this video, but thank you for making sure everyone stays safe. I've definitely grown as a trainer since I've started with Chlo!
Can you make a video on what you need to make your dog a service dog like do you need a later from a doctor? Do you need to register her. That type of things that would help me out a lot!
I definitely will add this to my list! I will let you know a few things super quickly: the first things needed are a disability and a doctor who supports you! And a solid knowledge of ADA service dog laws. There is NO legal registration for service dogs, and any website that claims to register service dogs is a complete scam! Thank you for the suggestion!!
Hi! Can you please tell me what the River Dog Gear etsy page is or list the link? I don't have Facebook unfortunately so cannot really access her page that way. I've been looking for a new vest for my service dog, Echo, because her current vest is pretty plain haha :)
Hi Caroline. I'm looking at a new River Dog Gear vest for my SD Billie. I was wondering how you clean it. Billie's current vest is really dirty. But I'm afraid to put it in the washer because of the patches. What do you think?
ahah I have never followed a youtuber like I do you. I'm always checking if theres new videos (which i have never done with ANY youtuber) ahah you're the sweetest Caroline and the nicest SD handler I've ever 'met'. And I am actually in love with your friend Lucy's cross body leash
+shalyca sottoriva I'm so glad we could help! I do know about the SD discount, I wouldn't have been able to afford the boots otherwise :) but I don't mention it a lot, I don't want people who don't have SD's to take advantage of it! I'd highly suggest the leash if you can, because you really can't find anything like it anywhere else!
Hello fellow Ohioan! If it's not over stepping my bounds I'd love to get in touch. I don't know anyone else in person who has a service dog or is working to train one. I think it would be very cool to talk more about training tips and tricks! 👍
Hey girl! I'm currently in the early stages of finding a dog to become my service dog! I was doing research and found your page! I was wondering if you rescued you're dog or got her from a breeder? Thanks :) love you videos! So awesome!!
How well do you like the river dog gear? We had are vest for about 6yr now from the program. I'm looking for one similar to the river dog one. How do I go about getting one?
LOOOOVE. Find river dog gear on FB and send them a private message. She asks a few questions to prove legitimacy, just to make sure she's selling to only real teams, but then she'll send you info!
How are you working with your dog when she sees other service dogs/other dogs? My service dog is trying to complete his training but he has recently become "leash reactive" Whenever he is on a leash AND the other dog is on the leash he is hard to get him back to focus on me and if the other dog barks once at him he goes crazy D: I have been trying to work with him but treats, toys, and playtime doesnt help the distraction. Does the head lead work? I've never thought about using one. Thank you!
You could try putting your leg in front of him or making a noise to get his attention or try to get him to walk in a circle just try to get him to focus on you just a suggestion I'm not a dog trainer
None of that works :c He is a very large dog and I need him for mobility so I can't handle him once he starts. I bought the head harness and it has worked perfectly for me! I think he has reacted once but it was corrected fast. Ever since then he can walk passed dogs like he used to! Thank you for the help though!
I have a question, so I have severe anxiety and depression. When I was in school I tried to kill myself cause of anxiety and depression, I dropped out of school considering I was starting to become lazy. If I provided a document about my severe anxiety and depression would I be able to get a service dog to help me out or what? What would you recommend.
What TheFuck This needs to be something that you talk to your doctor about and see if this is something that is going to benefit you and be worth the cost. good luck with whatever you decide to do. :-)
So glad I stumbled upon your channel!! I just got an emotional support dog (a real one, we're not fakers here 😠) but he will be joining me in college this coming semester and we are working on some psychiatric service dog tasks, and after we come home for the summer I plan to increase his training! I know for an ESA there is just a doctor's note involved, but my community is really weird here and I've gone so many years with just therapists and doctors and I've never been to see a psychiatrist actually! is that something I should worry about in the transition to becoming a service dog or could my doctor/therapist just aid with that?
J Anon just so you know ESAs are not Service Dogs and are not allowed public access. Now if you are training for psych issues once trained and proofed on your tasks you will then have a Service Dog. please refer to the ADA for more info.
As in to show people? None. To be protected by the law if someone tries to accuse you of falsely having a service dog? A letter from your physician stating that you are disabled per the ADA, training records for your dog (passing a canine good citizenship test and a temperament test is good to have on hand). The problem is that we, as a community, have to self regulate. With people using dogs for more psych issues problems are cropping up (I'm sorry to say). Because the nature of mental illness is that your worldview is skewed you might not be self aware enough to train your own dog appropriately, understand that your reactions to stress, flashbacks, ECT keep you from proofing your dog in a manner that a trainer could teach those things in a safe environment. I too have PTSD and I know that in that area I need the help of another trainer to teach my dog tasks to combat it. If I was well enough to manage my PTSD to train tasks while in the middle of major anxiety or flashback then, per the ADA, I do not need a Service Dog.
L. Artemis Costanzo I'm not planning to personally train the dog entirely myself, just the basic obedience tasks and things such as deep pressure therapy, I know a trainer around where I am that is able to train psych service dogs, I meant in general documentation for example for taking my dog to college. my college tends to be very documentation crazy, just for my ESA I require like a million pieces of paperwork. but I should just need a physician letter on my disability (per ADA), some form of training records, and would a psychiatrist letter be required as well due to him being a psych service dog? (I suppose that's the initial question I was getting at 😂 sorry)
College has different requirements. For me it was medical documentation, trainer documentation and the dog had to be FULLY trained before being allowed on campus due to the fact that my state does not allow public access for Service Dogs in training. If you have all of that and your collage is being difficult you can reach out to the ADA and they (or a good Google search) can point you in the right directions as to paperwork that points out the law. Those items will speak about both the college's responsibilities for access and what you, as a handler, are required to do. The paperwork is to protect the college legally in case your dog does anything. They are doing their best to make sure no unnecessary, untrained or dangerous dogs are on the campus that could cause issues. Fakers give up or won't provide and just make a scene. Disabled people find a quiet corner, cry have panic attacks and then gather the paperwork and put a helpful expression on their face when having to deal with people who don't understand lol
Yes, I did choose her from a local shelter, although she was kept in foster. I performed the Volhard temperament test on her (you can find that really easily online) and she had the exact right personality: interested, focused, easygoing, and not fearful/reactive. I also had a friend come with me who is experienced in dog training just to make sure I didn't miss anything :) I would suggest bringing a trainer/behaviorist with you to temperament test any dog or puppy before you make any choices about possible SD's, if that's what youre interested in!
Love your gear haul! We also have a cross body leash for when I'm working Rue (my service dog) and it is probably my favorite piece of equipment. Really makes my life so much easier! Another great company to check out is Active Dogs (www.activedogs.com/). I get a lot of my gear from them including the leash and vests and it is all great quality! Sadly you can't get the leash in any fun colors, but you can get the vests in a variety of colors! ^_^ Love watching your channel!
fefranks I've not ordered from them myself but I've heard this same thing from more than just you. Hopefully this is not a regular thing for them and hopefully they respond to and correct the problem and ship your item to you. good luck :-)
She was an abuse/neglect case when she was rescued by the shelter - she had a severely embedded collar that scarred her neck. I genuinely don't know what caused the notches, but they were there far before she was rescues. My guess is that she was "branded" similarly to how livestock have their ears notched/docked to keep track of them.
You first have to have an actual medical disability to legally use a service dog. Though there is no registration or "certification" per say, as a responsible service dog owner it's important to make sure your dog is obedience trained as well as specifically task trained.
You do need to be legally disabled, and have a list of things you cannot do that a dog would be able to help you with. I'd recommend contacting a local trainer with a background in service dog training to evaluate your pup and see if she will actually have what it takes to be a service dog - it takes a very specific personality and temperament. Then, you can work closely with the trainer to help your dog learn how to help you! This process takes about 18-24 months once your dog is selected for service work. Good luck!
I've definitely gotten attention about it, but not really any prejudice! I've had people (mostly people who from different cultures) who were afraid of her, but no one mentioned that fear being specific to bully breeds, just dogs in general. I have had many people ask "wow, pit bulls can be service dogs?"
+Froot Loops R square No, I am not. I grew up with large dogs and did a lot of research prior to training, and I get a lot of advice for training her. But I rescued her from a county shelter, and I am training her on my own. For me, training organizations are too expensive, and they also make it difficult to fit to my unique needs. I also love the bond formed from owner training. It's not for everyone, though :)
That is a pretty personal question, honestly. I have multiple medical conditions- including psychiatric, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. I use Chloe to help me with multiple tasks including alerting me to changes she detects via scent, interrupting specific behaviors, helping me balance, and mobility tasks (retrieving items on command). That is all the information I am comfortable giving you, and in the future I suggest wording the question a bit differently to avoid being offensive :) I'd say "what kind of tasks does she perform," instead!
hey caroline I have one of those pop up bowls that has a soft rim if you want it my service dog really dosnt like it she likes her hard rim lol if you want it you can message me
Hello!!!! I want to thank you for making this video I got a leash and I love it make my life so much easier. Please take a look at my channel I will have a gear video going up tomorrow.
She is in training, like the other person mentioned. She's not perfect, but we're acknowledging that that distraction is something we should work on. You can't expect perfection in a dog in training. She does not have any aggressive tendencies, and she will not distract other working dogs in public.
Reactive is a really strong word. Every dog gets distracted and interested in other things, and we're working on it. Not once has she tried to hurt another dog. She's in training, so we're working on focus!
you mentioned she’s not good around other dogs? please re consider bringing her into public that doesn’t allow pets until she is fully trained because she may react to a service dog in non pet friendly places and distract them and make you look bad.
In case you didn't know, you can apply for a working dog team discount from Ruffwear with their pro program!
Really? How does this work?
+Cowboy The Service Dog In Training you go on their website and fill out the "application" they'll look at it, and if they see you're a legit team, you get a discount.
Thank you
I'm sorry y'all! I'm working on a new one right now, I've had a crazy past few months.

Then, you can work closely with the trainer to help your dog learn how to help you! This process takes about 18-24 months once your dog is selected for service work. Good luck!
Louie and Lucy isn't available anymore :(
never mind I see they have a website now.. YEAAAAA
I want more videos !
Do you get any prejudice because she is a pittie? I've had that happen before
I've definitely gotten attention about it, but not really any prejudice! I've had people (mostly people who from different cultures) who were afraid of her, but no one mentioned that fear being specific to bully breeds, just dogs in general. I have had many people ask "wow, pit bulls can be service dogs?"
Can you please post more:(
are you in a organization for training her?
+Froot Loops R square No, I am not. I grew up with large dogs and did a lot of research prior to training, and I get a lot of advice for training her. But I rescued her from a county shelter, and I am training her on my own. For me, training organizations are too expensive, and they also make it difficult to fit to my unique needs. I also love the bond formed from owner training. It's not for everyone, though :)
+Caroline and Chloe Alright, how did you start out training her?
what do you have the dog for
embraya grace don't ask a handler that plz. That is actually kinda rude so.....
embraya grace you can only ask 1. Is that a service dog? 2. What tasks does it preform?
Technically she can ask whatever she wants because she's not a business, actually, but thank you!
@@carolineandchloe8182 thats not how that works no one should ask that. Its illegal to ask that

hey are you on a college campus? you might not be but i recognise it 😂
If she is a service dog she should not react to other dogs.
She is in training, like the other person mentioned. She's not perfect, but we're acknowledging that that distraction is something we should work on. You can't expect perfection in a dog in training. She does not have any aggressive tendencies, and she will not distract other working dogs in public.
If your dog is reactive to other dogs, she shouldn't be a service dog. I suggest going to a professional trainer and getting help.
She never said her dog was reactive.. She's in training and most likely gets easily distracted.
Reactive is a really strong word. Every dog gets distracted and interested in other things, and we're working on it. Not once has she tried to hurt another dog. She's in training, so we're working on focus!
She's probably just easily distracted. Not a big issue and can be fixed with time and consistency.
you mentioned she’s not good around other dogs? please re consider bringing her into public that doesn’t allow pets until she is fully trained because she may react to a service dog in non pet friendly places and distract them and make you look bad.
