Hi, I am using this rode wireless ME (before it was Rode Wireless Go I) as a yoga teacher with the rode lavalier go microphone. This extra mic can be clicked into the transmitter and can be clipped in my hair (like musical actors) by using hide-a-mic hairclips. For me the advantage is, that the distance between the lavalier go mic in my hair is always constantly in every yoga pose, no matter in wich direction I turn the head. This relaxes my neck, too, because I do not think of my mic attached. Great solution for me. Great constant sound no matter what I wear and how much clothes I put on or off.
Ashley, thank you very much for your review. Two quick questions. Please can you elaborate more on using amplifier / speaker for enhancing the voice. And second - do you use it outdoors as well? Where and how you add that furry thing to reduce the noise of the wind? Thank you
Thank you, sold! I was looking for a compact yet reliable wireless system to use as a fitness instructor on Zoom sessions. This is perfect. Thank you for your honest and straight-to-the-point review. 🎉
Thank you Ashley! Your video helped me make my decision. Your explanations were very clear and I'm now using your link to buy my Rode Wireless ME! Keep up the great work you're doing!
I ADORRRRREE you my teaching teacher. I Saw new Rode ME on Amazon.. straight way came to RUclips , searched for Ashley Hagen in my subscription, and I knew this girl must have made the best neutral video for it's usage as a yoga teacher. I am right. We all r here
Awesome! I've been using the ME microphone for a few months now and really liking it. No issues so far. The Rode Wireless Go II and the ME are both great at this point. I just so happen to have the ME next to my computer and ready to go. The II is now my back-up.
Stumbled upon your videos while searching for a mic for Pilates classes. I found your review and videos very helpful and easily convinced me what I needed. I ordered it and will get it tomorrow. Thanks so much! PS: I subscribe to your IG page too 🙌
Amazing video! I was gonna go with Wireless Go 2 because of your older review, but this will still do the job for around 40/50% less of a cost. Thank you for sharing!
Did I tell you I LOVE you already?! Hahahh you helped me a lot with your mic tips. Thank you! ❤ And your baby is very cute and you look prettier at every video. Hugs from Brazil.
Found this video while trying to figure out if I want this mic or not and saw you live in poulsbo. I went to high school there. Such a small world. Appreciate the review and your kiddo is the cutest 💓
Hi, I would like to do guided meditation with this but I have a question. Is there a way to also play background music and use the wireless mic with an ambient /reverb vocal effect.... So it comes out of the same speakers?
I’m now starting out as a Pilates instructor and I love the look of this! I want to be able to hear the zoom participants if they need to talk to me, will using the microphone cancel out the sound from the participants? If that makes sense? Thank you
Sounds like a really versatile mic! I love that it includes all the cables. I have the Rode wireless Go which I use to record all my videos, and I’ve been very happy with it. If and when that conks out, I’ll definitely consider the ME. Thanks for a great explanation! And Felix is adorable! 💙
The only thing about my Rode Wireless Go is that the receiver power button is finicky, but mine is still kickin' after 3 years. I also don't think they update the firmware anymore.
Hi, thank you for doing this video. Any suggestions for how to incorporate the music into a Zoom fitness class using a personal mic setup like the Rode you talked about in this video would be greatly appreciated.
hi Ashley! would the Bose amplifier only what I would need to turn this into a voice amplifier for in person classes, not for use teaching online? or would i need the lavalier headset?
I don't think so. I usually just turn it off to mute it when I have to (like for a meditation practice while my baby is crawling around). You have to hold for 2-3 seconds. And then I turn it back on when I need to unmute.
Hi Ashley, thanks for the video. I'd love to see a reply on using a speaker to play music from and not using zoom share screen function for the music. One of your earlier videos said to place a microphone next to the speaker. If I get the Rode ME, do I need to buy an extra microphone for this purpose? If I'm not recording, just doing online classes, does the RX need to be attached to my computer or can I use it as the microphone that is next to the speaker? Or if it has to be plugged into the computer, I could just place my speaker near the computer, right? Thanks!
I've actually done this in my yoga sculpt classes when I was testing things out. It works just fine. You don't need a second microphone since the receiver is also a microphone. Make sure you turn it on using the Rode Central App. Here's the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/1dqVaeTqdGU/видео.html
You'll also want to make sure you change your Zoom audio settings to "original sound for musicians" rather than "zoom optimized audio" so that your voice doesn't cut out. It'll sound much better.
Thank you for the video! What is the best way to attach a lavalier to the wireless me and not have it ruffle around? I find that it makes a lot of noise as i shuffle around my mat and teach :( great quality though
If you’re amplifying sound maybe for in an in-person class, do I understand correctly you plug the black and black into the speaker headphone jack and the other black into the TX mic? Thanks!
is this a good one for backround sounds ? I wanna teach yoga on my balcony which is right over the ocean ...would it be good enough with the background noise?
what would you say about filming youtube yoga videos outdoors, is the audio quality still ok or would it be better to use an additional microphone (eg. lavalier) with a Windbreak thing on top? thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Test it out! That's always the best course of action. Try it and see what it sounds like with the equipment that you have. And then adjust if you need to.
Maybe. This is more of a Zoom audio settings situation, than the microphone itself. Zoom does some weird things with trying to get rid of background noise. You'd have to test it and adjust more in Zoom than the microphone itself. It probably would be great, as long as you can get the zoom settings right.
It's totally fine. Except if your chin is tucked and you are talking closer to the microphone, then it can get really loud. Just make sure to talk a bit quieter.
Thank you so much, this is super helpful! I'm wondering whether when using the wireless mics in group setting (for offline classes) the music can still be playing from my Spotify from my phone so that the students hear both - the music and the voice.
You'd likely need two separate devices unless that you have a mixer/stereo type system. If you are using the microphone to amplify your voice through a speaker like a bluetooth speaker with an AUX input, you cannot use the speaker to play music from your phone.
Yes, you can - on a computer. I have done that for my yoga sculpt zoom classes that needed music and I wanted to hear louder. You set the speaker as the earbuds and the microphone as the Rode, and you're good to go.
If I get the rode wireless me will it capture my voice and background music for my online classes? I know you mentioned with the go 2 you use one mic for you and the second for the music … I want to have good clear audio for both in my zoom classes.. which one do you recommend? Thank you so much for these videos🙏
If you're teaching on Zoom, use the advanced screen share method for adding music to your classes. It's way easier and comes through super clear. The only reason I'd say to use two microphones, one next to your music, is for teaching hybrid classes in a studio - where you have live students AND zoom students.
Hi! I just ordered the rode me and am trying to use it but when I plug it into my iPhone, it makes my camera start glitching….the camera won’t record or it will start recording but won’t save in my camera roll, or the camera starts flashing and won’t record. I don’t know what the problem is. My phone works fine and this rode just came in the mail today. Any ideas what is happening?
Where do I find a video of how to set it up on a Mac book pro? I’m trying to help someone for their yoga clases on zoom? This is EXTREMELY COMPLICATED for someone who doesn’t have any knowledge about mics and it DOES NOT come with instructions,
Download the Rode Central app in the applications store on your mac computer. When you plug in the receiver to the computer (turned off), you can then change the settings from that desktop app. What are you having trouble with specifically?
Just like you'd use any other microphone on a zoom call. Plug it in and set the microphone in the audio settings. If you are on a phone, you can also use it just by plugging it in, but you may not be able to hear anyone.
It should, yes. It's not apple specific. You might still want to get the SC7 cable. I don't know the input that Android phones have. Is it USB-c? Is it a headphone input? You can likely find a cable that will work.
I bought the RodeMe on your recommendation. It stops working i.e turns OFF midway through teaching my classes. They sent a replacement and it does the same thing. I do NOT recommend this to anyone.

Thanks for the info! Can you also play music through the speaker while you’re also talking through the mic?
I want to know too! Did you try it?? :)
Thanks for the great advice, I’m looking for new microphone so might treat myself for Christmas 😊 what a cute and well behaved baby too 🥰
Thank you so much. Fantastic overview and really helpful given the lack of instructions it came with ❤

Yes, I created a video talking about that here:

hi Ashley! would the Bose amplifier only what I would need to turn this into a voice amplifier for in person classes, not for use teaching online? or would i need the lavalier headset?
Good day, what mic would you recommend for a large group of attendees in a closed function room / open area. Thank you
Rode should give you some freebies, you deserve it for promoting Rode, which is the best for us simple folk
Hi Ashley, is the me better for hybrid teaching as well?
Good review and comparison with the GO II. Can you use the receiver to play music to create an atmosphere when teaching?
Very informative without all the technical jargon. Is there a button on the TX unit to mute the mic?
I don't think so. I usually just turn it off to mute it when I have to (like for a meditation practice while my baby is crawling around). You have to hold for 2-3 seconds. And then I turn it back on when I need to unmute.

Thanks for this video, however, do you have any experience/recommendations with wireless mics for outdoor yoga teaching type of settings?
Thank you for the video! What is the best way to attach a lavalier to the wireless me and not have it ruffle around? I find that it makes a lot of noise as i shuffle around my mat and teach :( great quality though
Formidable ❤
Thank you for this video. I bought this after watching this video. 🙏🏾
What’s the best lav mic that pairs with this mic? Will the ride lav Go work?
If you’re amplifying sound maybe for in an in-person class, do I understand correctly you plug the black and black into the speaker headphone jack and the other black into the TX mic? Thanks!
I meant receiver mic
is this a good one for backround sounds ? I wanna teach yoga on my balcony which is right over the ocean ...would it be good enough with the background noise?
I tried using it and I can't tell the difference between mic and internal mic in the phone so I wonder if mine works at all T_T
what would you say about filming youtube yoga videos outdoors, is the audio quality still ok or would it be better to use an additional microphone (eg. lavalier) with a Windbreak thing on top? thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻

How does this mic do when you are upside down for example like Dolphin, handstand? Moving through DD to UpDog?
It's totally fine. Except if your chin is tucked and you are talking closer to the microphone, then it can get really loud. Just make sure to talk a bit quieter.
Does it have reverb?
Will it work for Android and could I teach yoga just by using my phone?
yes
Which is best for outdoors?
Thank you so much, this is super helpful! I'm wondering whether when using the wireless mics in group setting (for offline classes) the music can still be playing from my Spotify from my phone so that the students hear both - the music and the voice.

Hey! Do you know if you can use bluetooth earbuds at the same time as the Rode Wireless Me?
Yes, you can - on a computer. I have done that for my yoga sculpt zoom classes that needed music and I wanted to hear louder. You set the speaker as the earbuds and the microphone as the Rode, and you're good to go.
Thanks so much for this 🧡 Can I hear students on Zoom with the me?
On a computer, yes. Phone or tablet, no.

If I pair it with a Go II transmitter, does that Go II obtain the Gain Assist function?
Great question. I have no idea.
Hi! I have never heard of this before. Sorry!

Starting out, do apple air pods work good enough?
I've been using Apple AirPods since the pandemic but I'm just about to buy Rode. Nothing wrong with AirPods, I just want better quality now.
How can I use this external mic on a zoom call?:)
Just like you'd use any other microphone on a zoom call. Plug it in and set the microphone in the audio settings. If you are on a phone, you can also use it just by plugging it in, but you may not be able to hear anyone.
Does it pair with Android phones
