Very nice job by the producer of this video. No matter the quantity of antiquities, temples or museums in a location, every Greek island is a little gem to be explored. The impression about Skiathos is positive. Although the island is small, its history is very interesting, starting 2.000 years B.C.
Thank you YP, i'm glad you enjoyed my video . Over the years we have visited many Greek Islands, all with all with their own unique characteristics. With 227 inhabited, I suppose there is an Island to choose that would suit everyone.

Hi David, Agios Alexandros or Άγιος Αλέξανδρος is at the end of the lane of the main track to Kastro at the extreme north of the Island, there is a sign on the left I think with the greek translation. It is displayed on Google maps so it's best to refer to that :)

Skiathos - Jewel of the Aegean?
- No temples
- No agoras
- Nothing from Clasical Greece at all - nothing if sun bathing and pub crawling is not your main interest.
The attraction is the runway of the airport - a haven for planespotters,
Being a aviation enthusiast myself I am scrutinizing Skiathos for a valid reason to go there - but besides the airport there is little of interest.
So unless you are just going to Skiathos because the ticket fare was low - there is every reason to go elsewhere where you can find history.
Sicily has WAY MORE Greek history than Skiathos

However.....
Stating Skiathos as the Jewel of the Aegean is taking it too far. As if it is not a matter of opinion but fact.
Can your wallet cover the expenses of travellers going to Skiathos in vain when seeking cultural substanse and not just beaches?
The sunset can be experienced from any west facing coastline of the mediterranean - not even the Santorini sunset is unique in itself - and Santorini is far more interesting.
Visitng a place and falling it love with it does NOT make it unique - I am happy for you if you had a great trip there - but you being OVERWHELMED does not necessarily guarantee that others will be.
Besides the unique airport......I still can’t see why e.g. Naxos wouldn’t beat the hell out of Skiathos.....which has history.
Mother nature has designed Skiathos Henrik. History was built by humans, I prefer the former.
