I was just listening to Giorgio by Moroder by Daft Punk with headphones on, and thinking "wow this drumming is just fantastic" and "no way this is a drum machine unless it's the best drum machine programming in history by a genius who spent years on it", and it wasn't. Quick google and it was this guy :)
Had the pleasure of Omar Hakim live at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium, couldn’t believe I’d never heard of him until that point. He’s absolutely incredible at his craft

Omar, 1 great drummer, I've met n played at Keyboardist Daryl Browns annual Bar Ba Que every year for 6 years n running, along with many greats Phill Smith, Jerry Brooks, Barry Johnson, Roy King, Double zz, plus many more, I am Antonio(Lil TEE) Brown, from HOLLIS, QUEENS TOWN!!!, got it ????
If it is what I think it is--a Yamaha Club Custom (the most recent version with that name)--then the shells are made of kapur. Those were great drums, but unfortunately now discontinued. Odd that Omar, being a Pearl guy, would be allowed to be seen playing a Yamaha in a public setting. I thought most companies were pretty strict about that. Perhaps when you're Omar, and you've been with Pearl forever, you can pretty much do what you want.
