MERCEDES (W176) A45 AMG TCU GEARBOX LAG RESET

- This works for most Mercedes cars but this video is with my Mercedes A45 AMG W176 2015.
1.TURN KEY TO POSITION 2 (KEYLESS START REMOVE THE PUSH BUTTON AND USE KEY).
2.PLANT FOOT FULL THROTTLE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS.
3. KEEPING YOUR FOOT TO THE FLOOR TURN KEY COMPLETELY OFF (DO NOT REMOVE)
4. TAKE FOOT OFF THROTTLE AND WAIT 2 MINUTES BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.
This should reset your TCU and your throttle response should be back to how it should be.
Hope this video helps!
You can do this every 3-4 weeks when the throttle response starts lagging again.
worked very well for me .... thanks
Have to do this every few months laggy gearbox drives me nuts. On the side of the road doing it right now 😂
Yeah its frustrating lol, I drove my wife's W176 and was well overdue the reset, makes the world of difference when it hasn't been done for a long time.
Yepp I’m at the car park with my pre workout kicking in before gym but it’s a priority haha
Doing it again now 😂
Hello, I have a question about the A45 AMG 2014, namely when approaching the traffic lights or when stopping the car, the car brakes, the car stops and after about 0.5 s 1 second there is a gentle stop small knock as if in the front gearbox or the engine? I don't want to write that it's a knock because it's not. It's subtle but noticeable, it's hard to describe it precisely, I suspect the video won't convey it. Have any users encountered something like this? I m not sure should be like this on every single a45 ? I try to find answer everywhere may be you or someone can help
I have a a45 amg 2016 and i have the same issue , any solution?
Don’t worry about that: it’s normal !! Check on forums and community. The sound heard come from rear differential
That’s normal on a/cla45 both pre and facelift,
Appears sometimes when you’re coming to a stop and the gearbox shifts on its own from 3->1 , 2->1, notice you won’t hear it on manual downshifts.
Seems to be normal and present from day one for many owners
Yes same problem. Is this reset here on video fixing it?
Hey! Nice video! :) I have A200 with DCT. Usually it is lagging when i use it in traffic especially shifting 1. and 2. gears back and forth. What dou you think softwear updates on motor and transmission softwear ? Could help something ? Really annoying this lagging and also hear some noisy too. The other gears are okay. I experineced in Sport mode not doing it every time, strange.... Diesel engines do the same ? They have more basic power to roll over the gears. Thank you for your answer.
Hello, I'm French, please have you found a solution? I have the same problem
can you tell me what the symptoms are? When should you do this? I now have the following, Cla automatic in eco drive. In a traffic jam, the car will change gears differently after a while, make high revs and switch back to normal when you arrive home the next day. So is this a good thing to do? Thank you for your response
The gearbox overtime memorises your driving patterns and will adjust the throttle to match it. This resets that memory and the throttle will feel smoother and more loose.
Again, as it memorises your driving pattern, it will adjust accordingly. If you drive fast a lot or with high revs, the throttle will stay loose. If you drive slower, for example, in a city with lots of stopping and at slower speeds, overtime your throttle will feel a bit clunkier when you try to put your foot down
Does this work the same way with the push button start? I’ve got the facelift need to do this on mine cheers
Nice one mate 👍🏻
isn't there a speed sensor inside the transmission? are you sure that is not failing and needs to be replaced?
Thank you sir ! If it wouldn’t watch this vid i would bring my gla 45 to mb dealer and get ripped off !!
Should I drive the car manually afterwards because I’ve noticed no change when leaving it comfort mode
Great stuff, thanks for the video
Hi bud, I’ve had the gearbox remapped along side the ECU, so you know if this would effect the gearbox map?
No mate, doesn't affect the map. Definitely recommend getting the pedal box though. Makes a huge difference.
@@dankey3346 thank you for the reply sir 👍🏼
I have a remapped w176 will this do anything to the remap? Or will it be fine to do?
No mate, TCU and ECU are completely different so will not affect your map :) if it is mapped just be careful taking it to dealerships as they sometimes "update ecu software" which wipes your map! Thats why I went with a tuning box over a map lol
Sir how about mercedes A250 w176 its same ?
Just to confirm this will not effect my remap in any way?
I'd like to know this too
I have W177 , i have no idea how to remove plastic START STOP button keycap to insert key , its impossible without some tool , do you have any idea ? Thanks
It should just pull out with no tools if it's the same as the w176. If it's not coming out that easy it might not have a key slot behind it.
It just pulls out with no tools required..just get your finger nails behind it and pull gently
Besides, you don't need to pull the button out - just press it twice without holding the brake, same effect.
I have question, has it happened to you when you are going up a very high slope like the car accelerates revolution but does not advance?
Maybe i need clutch calibration? Mi car have 70000km
Going up a hill, start and stop, transmission slips and revs up but won't go. Like a slipping clutch. It's worse when cold but will do it when warm as well.
No it hasn't happened to me but does sound like a slipping clutch.
@@dankey3346 but you say lag reset? When the gearbox its lag?
It's the throttle response that you reset, the throttle is learning how you drive and adapts. This resets the learned driving pattern and removes the lag to essentially start from fresh.
I have the same issue did you figure it out
What year is your a45? My 2015 had the dreaded gearbox issue that causes the crunch when going from drive to reverse. There was something wrong with the input shaft which is common in the pre facelift models. Once I got it replaced I also noticed it doesn't feel like it's slipping anymore and honestly feels better than when I got it new. It is not a cheap fix though because they need to take the engine, AC and transmission out then pull the transmission apart to replace it so I'm glad it was just within the warranty window. Since it's been acknowledged by MB as an issue they may reduce the costs under goodwill if it's out of warranty and not tuned.
Can you do this with a ecu tune
You can get a TCU flash but not sure if its permanent as its adaptive.
Yes
Puedes explicarlo en español? Gracias
Aprenda ingles burro
do we do the same in cla 200 ?
Unsure but worth a try :)
Dan Key okey thanks
How will i know if i reset ?
You should be able to feel the difference, there is no confirmation tone/notification that it has reset.
does the TCU become laggy with use?
Yes, over time it does. This is where the reset helps but it isn't permanent. You have to keep doing the reset because the TCU adapts daily.
Dan Key thanks! That said, what’s the indicator that our TCU has reset?
No problem Tommy, unfortunately there is no indication that the reset is complete but you should feel the difference if the instructions are followed. Hope this helps
Dan Key just did it but I didn’t feel any difference haha darn it
I heard a click from dash , is that to confirm its done
If you followed the steps, it would have worked. There are noises that come from the dash when doing the process but there is no confirmation that it is done. I felt an improvement upon doing it. Hopefully you do too :)
Why would you do this? You need to do this when you are feeling issues?or you need to reset now and than...?
Hi, does this work for Mercedes A250 (w176) as well?
Yes should work if it's 7DCT
Trash gearboxes. Had one replaced on my cla45 amg and it’s taking around 5-6k rpm’s before it moves from a stop to go . Literally the worst gearbox I’ve ever driven. My single clutch Masersti GT from 2010 has been more reliable and less problematic. A 07 bmw 320i I had was smoother shifting !!!
