when I first tried a Pat McGrath special shadow, I was quite surprised at how dry it was, but I think it works out quite well on my eyes, which I'm thankful for because I didn't waste all that money, but also grrr because I want more.
LOL And that's why I'm kinda happy it didn't work for me!

I feel the same about Pat McGrath. I love that the basic cheaper palette was the winner. ❤ I have yet to use my Cosmic Brushes palettes either. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Muse. 💜💜💜

You know, I've noticed a lot of the people (not all, but a lot) who really love Pat McGrath's special formula (that dry one in the Ritualistic Rose quad) have a lot of visible lid space. I don't think the fine, dispersed glimmer of her special formula is quite as impactful on smaller or hooded lids--really dense shimmer and foiled shadows give you more impact when you have less "real estate" so to speak. Pat has a few of those really foiled shadows in her collection, but they're much less common.
The more I've watched people discuss their formula preferences, the more I've realized that it's hugely dependent on anatomy, preference, and skill level. Some people want blendability over pigment, because they're not confident with their blending skills or don't care to spend a lot of time on eyeshadow, while others want FULL ON PIGMENT immediately, even if it takes them more time to blend. Every traditional artist/makeup artist I've watched wants versatility--formulas that start with a soft wash, and then build to full opacity--because they're treating the shadow kind of like paint, and they work in layers.
It's interesting to see where people are coming from with their preferences, and the reasons behind those preferences.
huh! That is an extremely good point! And now that you say it it makes total sense! Thinking back on the people who absolutely LOVE Pat's formula they do seem to have less "mature" eye with more real estate!
I'm just happy that I'm not longing for palettes that are WAY out of my price range!
@@ruthfoley Isn't that just the worst??? I've been wanting to try some indie palettes but I'm afraid of opening that can of worms!!!!
I haven't tried PML and I'm not in a rush to. Although, at some point I want to try one of her motherships, but on major sale.
The Sydney Grace formula is so good, definitely one of my favorite matte formulas, really easy to use.
I can't wait to hear what you think about the Muse palette!
Oh wow! I thought you'd tried most brands! I genuinely don't think ANY palette is worth what she is charging and so many of them are SO alike!
