- We have a 50 inch RCA led television model LED50B45RQ in which the standby light changes when we hit the power button, but TV has no picture, just a totally black screen with possible sound still coming through the TV speakers.
In this video we will troubleshoot the problem, isolate the backlight failure and replace all the backlight strips thus repairing and restoring the Television back to a working state.
Best TV Repair guy on RUclips,
Explains well & shows methods well.
Learnt loads from the Top dog 😎👍
You have the neatest and cleanest shop I have ever seen. My shop is a mess. You have really nice test instruments.
Frank
You are freaking awesome. I have looked up so much info about this and most of it is pretty much click bait or unintelligent people. I already ordered a new TV but I sent you a few bucks because I love how great and smart you are.
Greatly appreciate that Andrew. Thanks for watching the channel.
I was given a 2015 RCA TV that is having the exact same issue. I ordered the LED strips hopefully that fixes the issues! Glad I found this! Definitely will come back to this to help guide me through the repair. Thank you!
Had this problem for a few months now. Takes several tries to get it to turn on. Video uploaded only a couple days ago shows how to fix the problem. What luck! Had to hit that like button.
Thank you you for yr reply on the previous video. I also cant hear that beeping now, looks like u attended to this. Much appreciated, gives me a piece of mind knowing your safe.
I try to pick up broken tvs and fix for cheap when I can to give them to mostly friends and family who can't afford it, but I also help strangers when the situation presents itself. That's why I asked about replacing screens if I should. Thanks, CH.
I wish I knew you. I would pay u to fix it..♥️
yt just suggested your channel! I used to fix the pro tube monitors back in the old days (back in the days with the first color-critical Sony 30” HD CRT, the Sony BVMD-30 I think).
I have to admit that I hadn’t realized these backlit monitors had all the backlight LED’s wired in series 🤦♀️.
I have a 55 inch RCA the same year. I replaced the backlights twice since I had it. Both times there were exactly three leds out. It seems the TV will still work With two bad leds but the third led it stops lighting up. I purchased a 65 inch Vizio v series over a year ago and I use the RCA in the living room. Thank you for the video.
If you turn down your TV brightness then your LEDs will live longer.
Frank
Thank You Thank You Thank You for making this in depth easy to follow step by step instructions!!!!
So just one will being out will make the whole tv not work?
I had to just do a hard reset but for some reason I enjoyed watching this whole video. Thank you
Yes it will
Amazing that one little LED can make the whole TV useless!
You would think they would have built-in circuitry to still allow the TV to work if a couple LEDs go out.
But I guess it's the same if a critical 5-cent resistor burns out, if it's the right resistor it could make the TV useless.
nice shirt BEAR DOWN!!!
I need screen for that exact TV. Do you ever order screens, and maybe an opinion about should I or not and who to get from if you do? If you have the time. No matter what always pickn up what you lay down and thankful for the videos and knowledge Thank you either way!!
I really hope my rca 50 inch comes apart the same way, my work through it out I asked if I could have it brought it home doing the same thing just received the tester also bought some tiny suction cup things I grabbed this tv just to see if I could fix it I like tinkering keeps me out of trouble lol my place is tiny so I will be doing it on my bach suit floor
Hello, an 'old' friend of mine asked if I could have a look at his RCA Roku tv (RTRU5528-CA). It turns on, black screen with sound and I can see some imaging in a dark room pointing a flashlight to the screen. Now before taking the whole TV apart and testing which led strip is dead is there other things like the power supply board or tc-con board to check that could cause the problem and how. If you don't mind too, which site or store do you get your TV led strips from?
Thanks in advance and GREAT tutelage video!!!
You can make sure there's voltage on the led plug on PS. shopjimmy.com
@BigDog8882 not to take too much of your time but could you explain how to do that?
If you're too busy I'll try to find a RUclips video that specifically explains how to do that.
Thank you for the link for parts 👍💯👌😀
@BigDog8882 hello again,
I get approximately 54dc v on the 200m setting meter. Would that confirm that it is indeed an led strips problem? Picture is black but can see an image with flashlight pointing at the screen.
@@habsfangohabsgo9574 Yes, replace the led strips.
@@bigdog8882 Thx for taking the time to reply 👍I bought a set earlier today and will replace them in a few days. 😀
Thank you very much for the SMD backlight reférence...very useful ! you're the boss !
I'm having an issue with my 55 RCA TV. The display will randomly go black but I'll still have audio. I have to switch the source input then switch it back to get a picture again. I use the TV as a monitor, my NVIDIA driver is updated and I've tried different HDMI outputs on GPU and the same thing keeps happening. I am thinking about buying a new mainboard for the TV, what do you think? I haven't tried switching HDMI ports on the TV because only one port supports 4K 60fps, the other 2 only support 4K 30fps.
Good work
Nothing in the description suggests where to get the strip lights and cost thanks
Informative video. Excillent
I have the same problem with the same TV. How much does it cost to have someone repair it? Thanks 👍🏻 Great video!
Depends. Cost should be like between $160-$220
@@bigdog8882 Thanks for reply 👍🏻
Do you have a repair shop?
I have a question. My tv just stopped showing an image. So what I did was I put my flashlight up against the screen and could see the image. Would that mean that I have to replace the LED? Or is it something else. I dont see no back light without using my flashlight. I can hear sound but no image. Just a black screen.
Never saw one that left screen and filters with the bezel. good to know.
Hi, I am trying to fix flickering screen on my 43" RCA Roku TV, Model number RTR4361. Can you please make a video on how to locate the ribbon strips. It should be an easy fix but I am having a hard time figuring out how to open the entire frame correctly and not just the TV circuit board. A
Vizio are compatible, instead of replacing to the LEDs I just switch led out a broken screen with an rca screen. The Lvds are the same
Nice one I’m always dubious of those China TVs as they tend to silicon or sick the screens down hate them lol
Nice quality video - what camera are you using? Thanks for the vids!
Thanks. Sony FDR-AX53.
Had same problem on same model two weeks ago . sound no picture . turned out it was the power board . 20$ part . tv now works great again .
where and what part did you order?
The eeprom chip ($15.00) located on the main board will cause the same backlight symptom 'sound but no picture'. If all the backlights work when testing them the it's the eeprom chip.
I know, good point!
Most likely an LED OR EEPROM CHIP? Can somebody PLEASE tell me if it has the led back light issue and no sound, is it a bad LED or possibly something else?
My TV symptoms started about a month ago, after the black screen and no sound issue occurred; I could turn the TV off unplug it and plug back in and it would work for a week or so and then it'd go black screen with no sound again and I'd have to unplug it and plug back in, work again for a few days, but now it won't recover from the black screen and no sound.
Do you think it's the led Diod/strip that's bad or maybe the eeprom chip?
Thanks man
Any time
Pretty crap when the power supply and t-con is bigger then the mainboard such quality lol
Can you tell me what type or number LED do i, get for a samsung un40f 5500,Thanks.
Thank you for showing everything in detail. But the most important thing is missing! How much did the repair cost to the client? We are replacing the backlight bars in such a diagonal = work cost = $ 78 + $ 38 backlight bars = $ 116, how much would I earn for this work while in the United States?
Depends on the size of the Television.
We have a led tv brand TCL 40 inches.
I am facing the problem of flickering if backlight,.
Previously I controlled backlight flickering by using low brightness.
Now it is flickering even we did low brightness.
Please help me to solve my problem.
Easy. Replace backlight strips.
@@bigdog8882Thanks for guiding me dear. There are three strips of backlight.
today we opened it and observed that the few LEDs are not litup properly.
I will replace with new one.
Thanks again
I have a 65 bought nit thus black Friday but last and the backlight went out two nights ago. Only my two daughters use it and my wife and I game on two smaller monitors if the kids are distracted lol.
Rca warranty 1 year. My TV one year 4 months lol fuckers!!! I'm really tempted to do this lol
I have a LG 75UJ6450 that shows a black screen. The backlights turn on and stay on. I've tried replacing the T-CON board but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Unplug the connectors one at a time from t-con to lcd panel. Then plug and Power the TV on. If u get half a display on one side, then that means you have a bad driver board on the other side.
@@bigdog8882 The left side connector being disconnected results in half white and half lit up black. The right side is connector disconnected is a lit up black screen. No change. Thanks for your help. I'm thinking I may have a bad panel?
can you put a link where tp order this part?
Here we go again!
Your video only for back light problem udher problem to be make video please
