Fun fact: Toboe isn't even two years old, which is why he looks like a 15 year old kid. One year in dog years is 15 in human years, which is also why the others call him "runt" and "pup". To them, he's quite literally a baby. The "thing" that snapped inside him was his hunter's instinct, which wolves develop during puberty. This scene was, metaphorically speaking, all about Toboe becoming a man.
@@thomasflynn731 It depends on the breed of dog. Calm down. As a general guideline, the American Veterinary Medical Association breaks it down like this: 15 human years equals the first year of a medium-sized dog's life. Imagine getting this pressed over absolutely nothing and not even being right.

The modern day anime writers could learn a lot from this scene like: * higher basic stats (or stronger forms) are not necessarily for character to win if weaker one plays his cards right, like going after weak point, forcing an enemy to panic and there fore start doing desperate stuff like in this case hitting himself into icebergs into desperate attempt to get the dog of his eye resulting into killing himself * getting mad (or remembering the past) does not increase basic stats(or magicly heal any dmg and sky rocketing basic stats for some reason ) it just can boost your initiative... And that's how to make a fight scene without abusing plot armor and ignoring already established rules of the anime world which results in completely cheap writing where visuals is the only good thing about it at best
Į think it was not cuzz his friends got atacked but more cuzz he could no longer stand his own weakness and a feeling of being worth less Which made him go berserk...
I watched this when I was 10. Frankly, I don't think I truly understood the meaning behind this anime, but I credit it with strengthening my ability to withstand gore and feels, haha.

Too bad this is the only scene where he fights (and I guess when he protected the old man from Darcia, but SPOILERS he died doing it.) He should have had more fighting scenes.
I wish this anime was longer and had more development in the plot and characters. This series was based off of wolves searching for paradise and all, but I wanted to see more of these characters.
