  • This weeks video takes us back to Old Koloa Town for a history lesson with one of our subscribers, Jack! He restored Old Koloa Town in the 80's and was gracious enough to meet with us and to provide us with several old photos and newspaper clippings from that time. A special thanks to Jack for the history lesson!

      @@OnHawaiiTime Thanks for replying. Construction always seems to take longer than expected! I think one of the only times that construction went faster than expected was repairing part of the Los Angeles Freeway after the Lom Prieta Earthquake.

    We LOVE Koloa! Such a nice quiet and quaint little town! What's going on now with the new Village Construction now?

    • @OnHawaiiTime
      @OnHawaiiTime  4 года назад

      Aloha Alvin! The construction isn't very far along. We'll do another update soon when there's more to show. I can tell you thought that our friends at Chipwrecked (food truck) will have an actual Restaurant at the new village!! We are super excited for them. And we love Koloa too!

      @@OnHawaiiTime-Thank you for your reply and update. I went to their website and had a hard time picturing the new proposed changes! I just hope that it does not change Koloa too much! I'm worried the small town could get swallowed up by the development! That would sad if that happens!

    • @OnHawaiiTime

      I think they are going to try to stay very close to the motif of the rest of Old Koloa Town. We are hoping it maintains the charm too

    Yes, we love to learn more about Kauai. We were on our way to Kauai when Hurricane Iniki hit. so we had to go to Maui. A year later we went to Kauai and people where still living in tents. But you know that was one of the best trips ever. Locals where so happy that tourist came back. We will always come back:)

      Thank you so much for watching! We love learning everything we can about this beautiful island. And I think sometimes Kauai needs a lil reminder of how important the visitors truly are to our economy. Hopefully we don't have to experience another disaster like Iniki though. Aloha~

    Love the video, Aloha from Cali. I remember Surf & Cycle, used to go there to buy wax for the surfboard(strawberry flavored), long sleeve shirts and get my hair cut from that barber shop when I was a lot younger, thanks for sharing. Mahalo!!!

      That is so cool!! I bet it was a trip to see those old photographs for you then. Jack gave us so many cool photos. I couldn't include them all but who knows. Maybe we'll end up with another Koloa town video in the future when the new section is complete and we can include a few more. Thank you for watching!

      Brodi has all his work done at Farsyde Tattoo in Puhi...right next to Lihue. Check out their instagram to see if there are any artists that might offer what you are looking for. Perhaps "relax and unwind" as a reminder...haha!
