    Simply put, replace old painful experiences with new good successful experiences. If you have a public speaking phobia because of a bad experience, you must get up there again till you succeeded in making a new successful experience in public speaking, and keep doing it. Do this in all aspects of your life. Fight fear, fight the bully.

    Pain has purpose. If an animal gets stung trying to eat a scorpion the animal is less likely to repeat the same action...its a mechanism for survival and traumatic experiences serve the same purpose. Being abused as a child gives an individual more insight into the feelings of people who have suffered the same and can help others cope with their past thus continuing making them and their species productive. It is up to each individual to find the good within them and use this to help others. You don't need to be part of a "religion" or give your money to an organization in order to achieve this.

      The reactive mind is comprised of moments you can't remember. The entire subject is about bringing you into control of those memories. I'm sure you can recall incidents where you "don't remember what happened". Those incidents are subconsciously controlling your life. Dianetics helps you recover the memory so as to put you in control of it instead of vice versa. It doesn't "delete" memories or anything... If that's what you think then you have the wrong idea.

    • @kandie3127

      I could be wrong but I don't think you understand what dianetics is for.
      You seem to be speaking of the analytical part of our minds. I doubt anyone in scientology would disagree with your statement in the right context.
      Examples of how I think you're looking at it or understanding it vs how I understand it.
      Annie goes out to dinner with her family one night. They go to a chain restaurant and she orders sausage, biscuits and gravy. No one else orders this. They finish, go home & to bed.
      Around 2-3 am, Annie has terrible pains in her stomach and proceeds to be very sick out of both ends. The sausage must have been bad is her conclusion.
      Should she never eat sausage again? After all, it was bad sausage not ALL sausage, right? Just be more careful & stop eating if it tastes off, right? Right.
      No one disputes this.
      However it seems that Annie just can't eat that dish again for years afterward. Not because she thinks all sausage is bad or even thinks much about that night anymore. The problem for her is the way her body reacts each time she even smells sausage. No matter how many times she confirms it's good & knows it won't make her sick, her body doesn't get the message.
      That's where dianetics would come in. The ingrained memory & reaction is much deeper than her analytical mind. It's in the bin with other gunk that her analytical mind doesn't have readily access to. Like repressed memory. Sure she can remember what happened but the ick part just lingers deeply.
      Hope I got that right & it can help someone.
      Much love

    Back in my early 20's I had a high pressure market research job on 5th Ave in Rockefeller Center in New York City. Alone in the city, at night I'd go drinking until I developed a dependency. It was very hard to deal with and I eventually realized I had a problem. I lost my job as a result and still couldn't seem to kick it. If I did not have a drink in the am, I'd shake all over. I had started a side business and worked at that for awhile until I could pay my bills with it. I was approached on the street by someone saying they could deal with this problem easily and I should attend a lecture on the mind. It was Dianetics. I blew it off at first, but finally one evening got curious and went. The lecture, to me, well it seemed preposterous that something that simple wasn't already known and either being used or discarded by modern psychology. I have a good education, and am not prone to indulge in simplistic practices without soon discovering the rat. Nevertheless, they said I could get a free session with a student, so on a lark with nothing to do, I tried it just to see where it went wrong, or what the trick was. After a few of these short free sessions, all told about 5 hours, with a few different students who were just learning the method and needed someone to practice on, strangely enough, an early memory came into my mind and seemed to suddenly get very clear and then to dissolve away. I'd never felt anything like it before. I remember it today 50 years later as if it happened yesterday. But my alcohol dependence changed subtly. The day after that session it was as if the stuff had turned into fruit juice. I could just take or leave it. Still can. It may not work on everyone, but I was hearing a lot of similar stories about disabilities vanishing back then. The thing I liked most was that Dianetics asked nothing else, no belief, in my case, not even money, it changed nothing else, except I was rid of a major pain in the ass for free and with no real effort on my part! That isn't supposed to happen according to most authorities, because addiction usually requires tons of work for dubious results, but stable remissions like mine were quite common amongst people who practiced Dianetics when I did it 50 years ago in the early 70's. Who knows where I'd be now without it. Far as I can tell, it hasn't changed, people still use it today, which I can now confidently say is a good thing if it works as well for them as it did for me. There's no amount I'd take for the benefit I got at this point in my life at age 72. Most remarkably, it can be learned from a 50 cent book from Goodwill and practiced by anyone, the argument that it costs a fortune is just 'too lazy to read a book'. I am not selling this idea, but saying if it was the cheapest and easiest way out of my fix, what else is it good for? It's usually considered gullible not to be a skeptic, but what if it is almost free, and there's something going on with it over a very long time with thousands of people all over the world, with no side effects, nothing changes except you get rid of your worst internal nemesis, why lose out on these possible upsides just to save your intellectual face?

We have just found a safer and more effective way to receive the help that you need. Dianetics is called the modern science of mental health. we do know that there are things that effect you mentally (the reactive mind) and we do have ways to fully help someone going through a hard time, why we do it this way and the logical reasons behind it are all stated in the beginning of the book, if it wasn't and i didn't agree with it to be true i would of stopped reading it right away.

    I don't understand why you would try to repress memories even more. You need to remember your past and bad things that happen so you can learn from them. I also think that without them it wouldn't be very good for you and you really need the bad memories to function correctly.

    • @scientology
      @scientology  3 года назад +6

      Hello, Tess. I hear you and thanks for commenting! In Dianetics, you're erasing the bad psychological effects and/or physical pain that the memory ("engram" in Dianetics) contain. Engrams affect your thinking, your mood, your spiritual vitality and physical functions negatively. Once an engram is relieved through Dianetic therapy, one experiences tremendous relief and can operate at a higher level on all fronts. A person can still remember or recall these bad incidents, but he is not affected by them negatively. He can look at these instances without becoming mired in the emotional distress or physical pain the incident once contained. Hope that helps! The book "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" explains it all perfectly. 👌

      I will also add (from my personal experience) that it's very fun to do Dianetic therapy. Each Dianetic session is like reading the next chapter of a really great story. You learn so much about yourself and you gain a bigger and stronger sense of spiritual freedom each time.

    It's a great philosophy. A mix of a placebo effect with forced reconditioning. It's a great concept - but how is this a religion? Where is the supernatural element?

    • @jessiesmith9969
      @jessiesmith9969 7 лет назад +3

      That would be the 8th dynamic, the god dynamic. It is what one believes to be true. What one god(s) or lack of god(s) is. In Scientology we recognize and respect the religious beliefs of others. Some might be Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Catholic but we do not touch someones 8th dynamic cause that is theirs to have. We help you grow your one spirit (thetan) if you want a deeper connection to your god we will help you with that if you want a stronger connection to yourself we willl help you do that.
      religion is defined as:
      1.
      a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
      2.
      a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects:
      the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
      3.
      the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices.
      based on the definition of religion Scientology is in fact a religion. we have the individuals 8th dynamic, we have a specific fundamental set of knowledge that is widely known to every individual by their own experiences and observation to be true, we do adhere to a particular set of practices. It may be strange at first but give it a try and you will see for yourself (not cause I am telling you or cause anyone else is telling you) that there is a lot of truth, help, spiritual and personal gain from Scientology.

      Dianetics is NOT religious. It was never meant to be. It is a self help manual and was designed to be used by people who had read the book and understood the ideas.
      Scientology came late, after many people who benefited from Dianetics started to realize that there was a spiritual element to life. L.R. Hubbard wasn't religious until after his investigations proved to him that he was a spiritual being.

    Given man's inability to learn the lessons of the past so as not to repeat their mistakes I'd say the "reactive mind" doesn't function very well. :)

    • @jessiesmith9969
      @jessiesmith9969 7 лет назад +4

      The reactive mind is seriously retarded. Ask any Scientologist and they can confirm. It doesn't think logically. it thinks like "that's the color red and i was bit by a red bug all things red are EVIL" but you may not even know why you are scared of the color red, you just know for some reason that it is bad. that's a light example but you get what I'm saying. Take a fish swimming in the ocean for example, his analytical mind is recording everything at all times the temp, the depths that hes at the two rocks that he is swimming twords how much light there is ect. while he was swimming a bigger fish comes up and bites his tail and he swims off and gets away. Later on in his life he comes up to a similar rock formation, doesn't faze him at first, he keeps swimming. Then any of the other precepts can come into play. The water is the same temp, he swimming roughly the same depth that he was last time. He may or may not realize that its like the last time but keeps swimming. Then to many precepts are too similar to last time it could just be on or all of them or anything in between and his reactive mind freaks him out and he darts away. But this time there was no danger. thats how the reactive mind works. consciously or unconsciously it puts similar things together usually never is it logical and it causes you to dart away. exactly like the tainted food example in the video. your body is protecting you from something it precieves to be dangerous even though you know that just the sight or smell of new cooked food couldn't possibly make you sick your body remembers the harm that smell or look of food caused last time so it wont let you take that food in. those are light examples but sometimes they are more serious. for more information you have to read the book or id write a book here myself. lol

    By avoiding painful experiences this numbs the area of the mind that sends stimulus to heal and transform us. A numb limb is a part of the body that does not receive blood flow or energy to that area. If this is experinced too often, paralysis could set in due to misuse, nerve damage or no use at all. Wouldn't the proper response or question be, how do we use and heal a limb that receives no energy and low blood circulation so that it can become a stronger and more vital part of the body? By achieving this, the limb will adapt itself to the other organs, limbs, cells in our body because it is receiving healthy stimuli. A healthy limb is a power force for a healthy body, mind and spirit.

    If you rid all your memory and experiencs of pain, something traumatic, sad or negative in order to function and think better wouldn't as well make you repeat those same experiences that caused them in the first place? So it's jot true that what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger? I learn and become a better person from those negatives experiences and I feel it's best to keep them in you, but learn how to control them. Conditioning yes apparently with peer pressure and psychological evaluation to promote self reflection.
    If a person is broken that's a difficult task.
    However people do reach high levels of success and growth by other methods.
    It's not that difficult to clean out the self conscious and become focused on new behavior patterns to promote the growth of new neural pattern in the brain to clean house of old habits and self abuse.
    Commitment and goal is the key although this is a method it can be done by first recognizing the problems and then comitting to change as well.
    It's not the only solution although the presentation doesn't reveal all involved.
    There are other methods like meditation psychology will power commitment perseverance and even religion.
    My issue with it is the cost or what they present as a donation for something a person could achieve on their own.
    I understand the presentation and the psychological issues involved however I'm not not sold on the methodology.
    And I haven't seen success story's of average people reaching positions in the world from this, Movie Stars don't count they were already established in high places.

    That I agree with. That makes logical reasoning. Simply looking at the why's and how's of interaction with experience and environment that causes thought or feeling.
    When shown with rational thinking I am willing to listen to another person's point of view.
    This is where I said in part, I could agree with some things.
    Being that I ask these sorts of questions to try and understand anyway.. this part I can agree with.. because it's rational but still allows for the irrational to be seen in the background.. though actually it's not irrational it's the reactive rather than the active.. to every action there is an action or reaction was something I thought about years ago randomly. I mentioned it to a few different people.

    To begin with, rather Freudian in its model. Also reflective of Primal Scream therapy. The unraveling of previous experiences, lifting layer after layer of earlier traumatic experiences and articulating those emotions rendering them neutral in their effect of creating neurosis, that being the maladjusted behavior created in response to the trauma and becoming a defense mechanism. Basically speaking, its an emotional hangover perhaps remembered, perhaps not, but frequently confusing. The examination of ones past will hopefully provide insights that will cause an "Aha!" experience which can illuminate and create understanding and helping to move toward a better adjusted individual.

    ok so the time track is what you people call memories? wild.

    • @scientology
      @scientology  4 года назад

      Not exactly.
      The consecutive record of mental image pictures that accumulates through an individual’s life is called the time track. The time track is a very accurate record of a person’s past.
      As a rough analogy, the time track could be likened to a motion-picture film-if that film were three-dimensional, had 57 perceptions and could fully react upon the observer.
      The mind uses these pictures to make decisions that promote survival. The mind’s basic motivation, even though a person might fail in an undertaking or make a mistake, is always survival.
      You can read more about this at this link: www.scientology.org/what-is-dianetics/basic-principles-of-scientology/the-time-track.html

      Dianetics isn't a religion. Dianetics comes from the Greek dia meaning “through” and nous, “mind or soul.” Dianetics is further defined as “what the soul is doing to the body.”
      Dianetics uncovers the source of unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities, unexplainable pains, sensations and emotions (psychosomatic illnesses) and sets forth effective handlings for these conditions.
      You can also read about the difference of psychology and Dianetics in the book Dianetics. Get one and read it!
