Tbh, there is some overlap between the two. Estelle appears to be quite headstrong (despite her brain being a sieve :P). Maybe that's why people see her as a tsun tsun...
I finally bought a pc and playing this game for the first time. I’m like 6 hours in and enjoying the characters and talking to everyone. Thank you for the tips! It will make my first play through much better
I am about 25 hours in my first ever playthrough. Just started chapter 2. I love it and can't wait to play the rest of the Sky trilogy. It really harkens back to the classic JRPG's of my childhood, Lunar, Grandia, Suikoden, Xenogears, Thousand Arms. I feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia when I play this game and yet it is brand new to me and only my introduction into a larger world. I am very much looking forward to the rest of the Sky trilogy and diving into the Cold Steel series. I hope to eventually play the Crossbell games since I hear they should not be overlooked and are an important part of the overall saga. Hopefully they will be released here in the US soon.
Just finished fc, and man it took me about 60 hours with turbo. Given i did take my time reading and did leave the game running while I was reading up a wiki about stuff or watching videos, but still, I was thinking itd take me about 40 hours tho
Thanks for your explanation. I miss more videos like this. RPGs generally are more complex than other type of games. So when I decide to play a RPG I search for manuals of combat systems, menu screens explanations, etc, but I mostly find only generic gameplays. This video was a good addition to the manual in PDF of the ghostlight site.
When you said slow burn you really meant it, I guess. 10 hours in and I'm still on the begining of chapter 1. Granted I've jumped on hardmode blind, and am hellbent on going through all the side quests I can manage to clear by myself. Having a lot of fun so far. BTW, your tip about the quartz was really helpful. Ty.
Both Fc and Sc do not have a hard mode that is meant to be played. It was added later and is just a stat modifier for all the enemies. It turns the tutorial boss of sc into a restart nightmare and all the monster extermination quests become insanely difficult.
It's a good choice you went hardmode. I chose nightmare on first playthrough despite being frustrated dying at times it was worth it when you find a way to crack at enemies XD
Thanks for this. I am only in the prologue right now and I will admit the only thing that really confounds me is the turn order...sometimes characters skip to the top again and sometimes they don't and I'm not sure how speed factors into, and I am not sure if I am doing the S-Breaks right, I was unaware you could steal an enemy's turn too and I will have to try it it but overall I am really happy I started the game
On my first playthrough after a mix of curiosity and the trash taste podcast mentioning the series and comparing it to one piece which intrigued me! I was looking for a new jrpg series to get into and wow I’m in for a ride!! Only 4 and a half hours into it and without a doubt the writing is top tier as well as the combat and the music is so good like damn I can’t wait to continue the trilogy and the rest of the trails series
As for talking to people (8:10), you should make a point of finding recurring characters (Anton and Ricky) in each game! They really add a depth of humor to the world that is very enjoyable.
I've been jumping around the series... played Zero first, then CS1, and Azure. I went back to Sky FC, and started it on PC, but at the halfway point, switched to playing Sky FC Evo on a jailbroken Vita for a few reasons: * It's almost fully voiced (in Japanese). * There's a perfect fan translation. * I own the Japanese game (I'm a collector's edition maniac, and the JP Vita Sky Evo games were the best editions I could find). * The art style was much more appealing to me. The game is ever-so-slightly different, but I absolutely loved it, having just finished it less than a week ago. (Now taking a break to play Nayuta, but then I'll move on to Sky SC Evo.) I can't wait to get back to CS, which I was really enjoying, and I am excited for Reverie, which is what got me into the series: a friend of mine who really knows my tastes very well, when Reverie was announced, recommended it to me, so I bought the CE and then retroactively bought all of the collector's editions. The fact that Daybreak was just announced has me super excited. Even though I've spoiled a lot of the series for myself (deliberately... I have ADHD and I can't remember "man's voice" and need to know who the characters are when they appear) and knew most of the character surprises in FC, the end of FC was NOT something I saw coming and still totally yanked out the rug from underneath me in terms of the plot.
Great guide! I've just finished Cold Steel 1 & 2, since I wasn't sure how I'd fare with the older titles at first. Needless to say, I'm hooked, and this guide is a great help for me getting started from the beginning now! (Mainly to do with the quartz lines lol)
Downloading as I'm typing, probably need to re-watch this video a few times to absorb all the info but really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this game!

The best in the series. Not a lot of fanservice, good story telling, comedy, romance and whatever the fuck you can think about in my opinion. Haven't played the Crossbell series yet but I don't think it can replace Sky.

hey good video.. i'm about 35 hours into the first one, just rescued Titas grandpa and escaping the fort. Anyway I've gone this far barely understanding the orb/septium/slot stuff.. I'm gonna have to watch that portion of your video a few times to get it but I never read the orbal arts section in the notebook, I feel like an idiot now. Anyway..... is this orbal/septith/arts system work the same in the rest of the series? I'm really enjoying this game and look forward to playing them for a while.. I've been playing this one for about a month at an hour or 2 a night before I go to bed... so relaxing!
Hey William! The system is pretty similar throughout all of the games. However, the sepith art system gets simplified quite a bit after the third sky game. The newest games have combos, counters, break systems, and Master Quartz that allow for specializing your characters. So there is a lot to look forward to!
I did not speak to everyone during the prologue. Does it mean that i’ve lost some bracer sidequests? I’ve started the game like 2 days ago at the highest difficulty and I’m already at chapter 1 with all the bracer quests completed, the ones that pop up in the guild quest board at least.please tell me that i haven’t missed any 😢
Hey SylMH, I don't remember there being any hidden sidequests in the prologue. I know for sure there is at least one in chapter 1 that I can remember off of the top of my head.
I did even miss out on some of the board sidequests because I went in blind and didn't know they would expire. I'm in chapter 3 now and think I'm doing fine money- and strengthwise.
I thought FF12 will be great after FFX in my older game tour de gameland but somehow FF12 didn't do it and after hours of really trying to like it for now won't work but games deserves another go later. Now after Great Ace Attorney first game I started Trails in the Sky and I think I am going to concentrate on that cause game just click right away. So overall is the grind a lot I want to play the game as quickly as possible but don't really want to get frustrated by tough bosses too .I have played cold steel one but I saw that cold steel 3talks abouts in the sky's characters
I just finished the game yesterday on Steam. I did a 100% run in 51 hours and used a spoiler free guide to get everything as I progressed. I only had to grind a couple of times for an achievement for getting 3000 of each Sepith (crystals to make abilities) for an achievement. The game did not seem to be grindy like other JRPGs because the exp gain kinda tanks after getting into the 30s (finished at 37 and 40 seems to be the high end cap). I did not have any problems with the game or bosses except for the last boss which was more of a marathon than anything. Not games you can rush though. You can miss out on a lot of the game by zipping through it. Definitely recommend picking up a guide and following through it if you want to see everything and help prepare for what you will encounter.
Hey Gabriel! I think that the grind for this game is really low and cold steel 1 is a good comparison to trails in the sky. If you take advantage of the poms, it's actually easier to level in this game.
Thanks! Yeah, near the end of the game you can turn in all of your books for a Zemurian ore. The professor will then make a weapon for Josh or Estelle. You can get whichever one you missed on NG+.
The books are pretty impossible to complete without a guide due to some having very small windows where you have to pick em up and need you to backtrack to a past area. Unless you want to talk to every npc everywhere after every cutscene i recommend either using guide or not going for book completion on the first run.
