Frédéric Chopin - Etude in G sharp Minor, Op. 25, No. 6

- After the fifth etude in the set, the E minor, the next piece, in G sharp minor, should be played at once, attacca, as the two form a pair (like the Etudes in E major and C sharp minor from opus 10). The Etude in G sharp minor, the sixth in line, is known as the ‘Thirds’ Etude. The right-hand part runs in thirds with unerring consistency. It might also be called a ‘chromatic’ etude: its most prominent feature is the tone colouring, and it is through timbres that it affects the listener.
James Huneker admittedly exaggerates when he suggests that it ‘must be played like the wind’, though he is on the right lines. Kullak’s suggestion (as quoted by Huneker), that ‘apart from a few places and some accents, the Etude is to be played almost throughout in that Chopin whisper’, is supported by the instruction sotto voce (in an undertone), placed by Chopin above the notes.
Not without good reason does Zdzisław Jachimecki call the ‘Thirds’ Etude ‘one of the most marvellous virtuosic fireworks of all Chopin’s art, an unfailing means of dazzling the listener, placed in the hands of the moguls of the keyboard’.

He is back!
:')
Thaaaaanks!!!
After 9 months you comeback with this... do you want us to die ? Welcome back my friend !
The left hand from 1:21 -> 1:29 is so beautiful
it sounds too modern
@Frédéric Chopin No no, don't misundersteand me, i love how it sounds, when i said that it sound to modern i didn't say it in a bad way
@@Arias2948 romantic period mate!
0:52 I love this part
Am I dreaming? Welcome back!
You’re back after a long time. This is probably the hardest Etude composed by Chopin.
I think op 10 no 2 is still harder than that
@@smh1851 There is nothing emotionally powerful about it IMHO. It just sounds like an exercise to me everytime I've heard a different interpretation.
@@Murcielag0scuro lol... There IS emotion in this etude, especially if you listen closely to the left hand.
@@hxppythxughts7149 Please tell me, what emotions are there? I don't see any.
@@Murcielag0scuro Chopin composed etudes not just for study and challenge, but also evocative. His etudes combine musical substance and technical challenge to form a complete artistic form. Maybe this etude hasn't have as much emotions as etude op 10 no 3 or revolutionary etude... But at least to me, when i listen to this etude, especially in the Melody which is in the left hand... Tho at first i feel like it is a happiness then turns into a lie or betrayal (0:07 - 0:51) after all it was written in minor. Then at 0:52 you realized what happened, shocked and dissapointed, just like the "trills" in the right hand are getting softer. And you vent your anger (1:00 - 1:07) then you learnt to let it go (1:21) and that's it, you managed to let things happened (in coda, perfect cadence, conclusion in G# minor 1:57)
That's what I feel about this etude, a tragic one. Every individual felt different things...
Yes!!!! He's back!!!!!!

Wow! A very intricate piece to play. I recently shared a video playing Chopin geared towards intermittent pianists. This, however, is very advanced playing.. Well done!

My right hand hurts just from listening to this
Ha! I knew u would be back, i didn't say anything but i knew it!
Finally!
Nice video. Its even more nice, cause I can play it lol.
Probably the hardest Chopin's etude
Agreed.
Giuseppe Agresta This one and chromatique imo.
RandomCanadianGuy chormatique Isn’t really that hard compared to the others
There’s no hardest etude, it just goes with what one person may be skilled at. Someone might be much better with arpeggios, whereas another person may be more skilled with notes that are closer together and playing them with 3,4,5 fingers.
ive attempted both this and op 10 no2 and i think this one is a bit easier
Wow it’s been nine months
I had seen your channel before but never subscribed. But now I shall :)
Btw, could you do the godowsky version of this? Its gorgeous its really amazing.
Edit: Also be careful with Tim there in the comment section. Its a bot for gaining subscribers in a cheap way or something, like TrapTown NCS some time ago. Notice he has over 200k subs and not a single video, the ones on main page are from other channel.
I missed you
I really don't like this performance, but im still looking forward to future videos on this channel :).
Double thirds
The king is bach
Am I the only one who thinks this is one of chopins endings?
Damn, this Étude sucks the soul out of my right hand.
Yeah.... I composed that
I have 2 complaints. The fist one is that you did not have the pedal. The second one is you need to add more dynamics
Messy performance.
Welcome back!!
