    This is incredible. Army has one of the most confusing playbooks for someone who has never played a football game. Keep grinding!

  • @express_sports
    @express_sports 3 месяца назад +20

    Blue - you’re in motion before the play. After the motion you can get a hand off, block or go out for a pass.
    Yellow - going out to try and catch a pass.
    Red - receiving a hand off to run the ball or you’re the main target for catching a pass (basically the same as yellow but you’re the main target for play).
    Grey - blocking for your teammate running the ball.
    Option - QB can keep or pitch it to you

    • @bologna_lover
      @bologna_lover 3 месяца назад +2

      yeah, since you chose Army which is an option-heavy offense, you should look up what an option in american football is. the QB has different options of what to do with the ball depending on what he reads from the defense. are they stacking the line of scrimmage? then the QB shouldn't hand it off to the back diving up the middle. defensive end/linebacker on the end of the line crashing down to tackle the QB as he carries it? QB should pitch it to the back who is unmarked. it's all about having different options of how the play should be run and making the right choice on what you read the defense doing

    • @bologna_lover
      @bologna_lover 3 месяца назад

      also, while yellow means you're going out on a pass route, orange means you're the main read on that pass. you may not get the ball, but if you're open you'll get the ball since you're the first option the QB will look at

    Express Sports did a great job breaking down the colors you were seeing, I'll give some info on the offense Army runs.
    It's called the Option offense, most of the plays they run are called Triple Option plays. It means the play has three options - (1) the QB hands the ball off to the FB (fullback) down the middle of the offensive line, (2) the QB keeps the ball (called a fake handoff) and runs out wide, or (3) the QB runs out wide and pitches the ball to the HB (halfback) running to the side of him. You had a few plays where you were the HB running to the side of the QB, you want to stay a safe distance behind and to the side of the QB so that you're not near any tacklers and have open space to run if you get the pitch. There's also plays where Army will just do option 1 or just option 1 or 2, etc. but that's the gist of their offense. Look a little bit up about the Option offense if you want, it's not that complicated, just unique cause only a small handful of schools use it. It's actually one of the original types of offenses in American football!
    Also when you're blocking (gray color), make sure you do not block anyone who's back is turned to you cause that's a penalty (block in the back). And if Army is passing don't block before a pass is caught, that was the offensive pass interference you did in the video.
    A few of the abbreviations/play names:
    - FK = Fake
    - Triple/Triple Option = Triple Option play
    - Option = A play with multiple options for the QB, usually just option 1 or 2 if it's not a Triple Option play
    - Load/Speed Option = An option play where the QB has option 2 or 3 as described above
    - WB = Wingback, that's usually a halfback that is lined up way out wide to the left or right. Doesn't mean much, just what the offense has in when lined up before the snap
    - QB Kneel = Runs down the clock, usually done at the end of a game when one team has essentially won the game. Also called "Victory Formation"

    When you are out to catch a pass, you can hold or tap A to call for the ball to be thrown to you. When catching, there are different types. X is a catch and run, player will catch it in stride. Y is aggressive, your player will jump for the ball and be aggressive. A is possession, your player will take care of the ball and control it. You can also change the camera angle with the d pad(in game). Love the vids!

    Blue means you’re an option/check down. The QB has the option to pitch you the ball hence the name “option”. The triple option means the QB can hand the ball to the FB, keep it himself or pitch it to the HB. Red is who is getting the ball, gray means you’re blocking on the play, if it’s a passing play past the line of scrimmage you can’t block the defenders until after the pass is caught by the receiver or you’ll get a penalty flag for pass interference

    Conference games are games you’ll play against other teams in your conference. For example the SEC or Big 10 conference. At the end of the season before the bowl games or college football playoff, if you’re good enough your team will be invited to play for the conference championship

  • @TheSdfhjy
    @TheSdfhjy 3 месяца назад

    You're doing a great job figuring everything out on the fly, but I've gotta say you probably picked the team with the single most confusing offense in all of college football lol. Most teams don't run so many option plays, which are the ones where the QB is running with the ball and sometimes pitching it to you or one of the other RBs. Another thing I wonder about, in college football if you don't play more than 4 games in a season you can do whats called redshirting. From what I understand the game does this automatically for you if you don't play 4 games so based on how little you played in the first season you should have redshirted, which means you would still have 4 years of eligibility left.

    • @HeavenhoundGiuseppe

      @@TheApexHound For Notre Dame it's a matter of tradition and a way to maintain their rivalries. Notre Dame formed so many rivalries with schools all over the country that they decided it was more important to maintain those rivalries than to have the stability of a conference schedule and the massive TV money that comes with a big-name conference. They do have their own exclusive TV deal, but I believe it's not as big as the SEC or Big Ten conference deals. I commend them for maintaining tradition, considering that in the past few seasons many schools have thrown away 100 years of historical rivalries in order to chase that TV money.

    If you go to standings you can see your conference standings. All conference games count towards your conference record. The two teams with the best conference record play for the conference championship at the end of the season. Your conference games as well as your out of conference games count towards your overall record. Your overall record is used to rank you among every team in the nation, not just your conference. After teams play for their conference championship, the best teams will then play a 12 team tournament for the national championship. Norte Dame doesn’t have a conference record because they aren’t in a conference, they’re one of three teams that are “Independent”. Teams that are independent can only compete for a national championship.

    On the training with the circles, you need to use the 30 seconds it gives you. When a small circles appears you need to bait them to the other side of the big circle, then run around to the other side and quickly get the small circle and run out of the big circle and repeat. Dont feel so rushed.

    if you have a good conference record you may be able to go to your conference's championship, it's basically like different divisions in a way. I'm kinda salty that the conference my team is in the Big 10 now has 18 teams way back in the day there were only 10 teams Lol the coach is really penalizing you for calling that time out and loosing that one game that's probably why he hasn't played you as much. maybe increasing the quarter time would help to get out there more as the players wear down or possibly become injured. New school year new material to learn If you take out or make contact with a receiver before the ball gets there you get a pass interference call. seems like the elusiveness drill you've got to kite them
