  • Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone of the New York Philharmonic, offers an interesting perspective on the distinct roles played by principal and section trombone players in large ensembles like orchestras and bands. He also reminisces about his experience playing second trombone beside his mentor, Glenn Dodson in the Cleveland Orchestra and later becoming the Principal Trombone with the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Leonard Bernstein.
Laskey Alessi Signature Series Trombone Mouthpieces are crafted using high-precision CNC machining technology, ensuring exceptional consistency and playability. They are available in three sizes (55, 60, and 67) and two cup sizes (Solo and Symphony) to cater to the needs of modern trombone players.
    Laskey. Sounds Like Success.

Well said, Joe!! We met a long long time ago in Atlantic City at Resorts. I was the 2nd bone player with Clint Sharman and Phil McClellan in the early 80s. I believe I also have the distinction of probably the worst student that Dee Stewart ever taught!! It's great to hear your ideas and considerations from the position as one of the absolute best. Regards, Jeff Mack
