  • This is the final video of the abandoned 1987 Toyota Pickup 22r that I purchased sight unseen. After I got it running in a previous video, I found that the frame was rusted beyond repair. So, today I'm parting out the truck, removing any good parts to help keep other Toyota Pickup Trucks on the road.

As someone who parts out rusty Toyotas as well, I enjoyed the video. I would grab the gas door if the hinge isn’t shot. At least grab the lock if the key matches!

Thanks! The key doesn’t match and the door is dented up, or I would have.

its a shame the aluminum ac lines weren't savable. those are in high demand and they were discontinued by toyota a long time ago.

I did save the one in the engine bay, but the fittings were all seized on the ones by the condenser. I'm surprised nobody is reproducing them... a thin piece of aluminum tube and a couple of fitting would bring a huge profit.

@@6thGearGarage I have actually looked into making new ones. Unfortunately I can't find anyone who sells a tool that can make that stepped flare. At least you saved one of them. The hard to find ac parts for these trucks are the aluminum lines, the compressor manifold, the ac drier mounting brackets and completely evaporator boxes.

Rusty or not... that tailgate probably would look good on your wall. Also your next project may need some bed sheet metal (in the bed) if you have some you can cut out and remove it will save you some hammer forming etc.

Great idea, I just removed the tailgate after reading your post. The bed floor is pretty rusty though.

@@6thGearGarage Nice. Hopefully the next truck has less rust. My 79 comparatively has very little. The reinforcing plates for your body to frame mounts are not sealed from underneath (from the factory). might have to do a little work if some rust jacking pushing up the floor (especially the ones under the seat in the cabin corners. Looking forward to see your work on it.

Adjust the valves. Inspect the timing chain guides, if they are plastic and or broken, then you will need to replace the timing chain.

Hey I saw your email, I haven't replied because I haven't came across any 4wd indicator lights yet. If I do I will let you know. I'm still working on cleaning, photographing and cataloging parts from this truck, but I did pull the parking brake handle because it was good. I hope to get to that soon!
