I am in AWE!!! I thought I was the only kid who had this sickness!! lol Great work!! I can't tell you how many times I flipped a cardboard box with thread spool tables and green army men passengers as a kid...
8:47 is amazing, youre really talented and good at drawing, too. i love this mini set and i think your really good at this stuff, you shoul make more. all your poseidon videos are awesome!
Talk about movie magic! Making the scale work is the most amazing thing you did. You should do a video on making the dolls faces. They're very attractive. Glad you never became a haberdasher. I wanna come over and play!
Your are amazing. Very good eye for Details. right down to the New Years eve sign, to the Poseidon statue on the wall... Very Impressed with your details Bravo.
I came here from the LHO thing, started to laugh, and ended up captivated. Fantastic and fascinating. Your talents are wasted. You should be doing movie sets....oh, you are!
That was absolutely and utterly amazing! your talent is so breath taking you can make almost anything come to life! i can not wait to see your next episode, this just so fabulous!
Amazing!! I'm into action figures, Barbies and Kens and set pieces, but nothing like this! And your parody with the set, you and your friends was hilarious! Great work!
@Sims3101lover In the older luxury liners, like Poseidon was supposed to be, tables were bolted to the floor, and chairs were on tethers, anchored by a rope to an eye-hook on the floor. They could be pulled out and turned and so on to seat people, but other than that they remained stable. Several are ripped away in the capsize (as are a few tabletops from their bases), whereas many are still attached, gently dangling from their ropes in close ups of people hanging before they fall.
@Lady0nline "they stop being dolls," hee, I love it! : D Thank you! I collect a LOT, music-wise, and "stuff" wise, so that makes for the variety of musical choices; but as far as the STUFF, omigosh if you COULD SEE the things my mom has SAVED. Bags and boxes and drawers of cool weird stuff that she was so happy to see me use, mostly all I had to buy for this thing was the spray paint and the toys from the dollar store. And popsicle sticks. Strangely, mom did not have popsicle sticks...
@Sims3101lover The legs are small clothes pins from Michaels - they are sold near the bags of popsicle sticks. They are spray-painted brown; the yellow part is foam, sold in sheets at Michael's also. When the foam is cut and bent into the shape of the chair, it will need the thick cardboard base to glue the legs to so they will stand; the tabletops are Chinet-brand paper plates with the rims cut off, glued to the (brown) soup cans.
@lkw1967 Hee! No, there are lots of us, believe me, that did this as kids, in one way or another! I never had army men, they would have worked better than the Fisher Price Little People...hmm...I did use spools, too, yes! It's cool how everybody had their different "take" on their Poseidon Box depending on what toys they had and what was around the house! I am glad you enjoyed this!
@willyboi708 You are welcome, Will! One of the funnest things (well, for me, anyway, since I like weird details) is figuring out what the passengers in the Poseidon dining room ARE eating, by watching the movie carefully. I mean, to where you almost have to freeze the frame and zoom to figure it out! It's not Taco Bell, but some of the results may surprise you! : )
@willyboi708 I will! They are indeed eating - I assume you have the movie? I wasn't sure. If you go to the very first establishing shot of the ballroom CROWDED, w/the people dancing - it does an aerial thing, then moves down to Shelley Winters' table. She's eating strawberry ice cream; Manny's eating cake (which she takes a bite of) & a woman in extreme foreground also has cake w/white icing, cherry on top. The food at the Purser's table is utterly unidentifiable! Just tan things! Rolls?
@moyadapne Thanks for the nice words - yes, I have not managed to go "mainstream" really, but as of late (August of 2010) I DID manage to get some of these & other videos AND a Lee Harvey doll (one of my Fancy ones) in a traveling art exhibit, so they will get some exposure, at least nationally. I like knowing that he's floating around out there in galleries I have never seen nor heard of... : )
@RandomPoseidon01 AND YOU WILL, I promise! It has taken me a while to get all this set up (I was going to have the mini-"movie" done in September! Ha!), so, like the actual real movie in 1972, I can probably say "Coming this Christmas!" Or at least by New Year's, I mean geez! Thanks for your nice comments. : )
@whsiriotx Yes, it is amazing how many fans of this movie have done this very thing, ever since it came out way back in 1972. Some opted to flood, others didn't - my first ones (when I was like 8) I didn't want to totally wreck until later (when I came up with a better one...).
wow !!! it´s grate.....and looks exactly like in the movie.....can you make a video to make a titanic salon like the reception room o the grand staircase reception ??
@freddykaren Glad you dug it, Freddy! ...now that you have been Fully Learn-ed, I expect you to have YOUR Ballroom done in oh-eight-hundred hours, where you will report to the Officer's Lounge with same. : )
Well, all the dolls are safe and sound in storage tubs, and the salon itself is...sort of....scattered around...inside, outside, mostly outside....but I know where some of it is! : D
@Sims3101lover You asked me this two months ago...It's "South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)." I posted the name of the CD and the artist on your comments page, I think.
@RandomPoseidon01 Oh I not going to actually destroy it or get it wet or anything, just simulate the capsizing in close-ups, etc. Do not worry! It will survive, I may want it in the future for something.
@Sims3101lover At 6:20, it is an instrumental version of a song called "South of the Border." The EXACT version I am using that you hear in the video is from a CD called "Western Swing."
so charming, paul wilson. i will tell martha stewart. let's be friends, please! thank you, paul! frederic kahler, founder of the ssposeidon yahoo & fb groups

A+ work, man!

@LuLupoo Thanks! : ) I MIGHT re-assemble it nice after I wreck it, but where am I going to PUT it? It needs its own bedroom...

that is so dope WOW
Wow it must be used for the movie to make better effects!!! Really amazing you can sold it to an exhibit or something!!

@Sims3101lover At which exact point? Most of the music is instrumental, save for pieces of "Morning After."

@Sims3101lover The western twang-y thing? It's "South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)."
I wish i could do this, but I don´t have the time :/

@CrashingCrockery The CD is available on Amazon.com, called "Western Swing" by Jack Jezzro, 1997. They are all instrumentals, no singing.
@Mercman70 Thank you! ...and soon it will all be destroyed when I invert it. But some of it will be salvageable, since it took awhile to do...

@willyboi708 As it is nearly midnight, the passengers would be finishing the dessert course.
I've always been curious what happened to your model
Well, all the dolls are safe and sound in storage tubs, and the salon itself is...sort of....scattered around...inside, outside, mostly outside....but I know where some of it is! : D
CrashingCrockery OMG you actually talked to me
ONCE in a great, great great while I check and/or approve comments. I pretty much forget though since these videos are so old...
@Sims3101lover You asked me this two months ago...It's "South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)." I posted the name of the CD and the artist on your comments page, I think.

@whsiriotx I'm working on that one as we speak! Maybe I'll have it done by...March? April? Of THIS YEAR, I hope! Thanks for the nice comments!
@RandomPoseidon01 Oh I not going to actually destroy it or get it wet or anything, just simulate the capsizing in close-ups, etc. Do not worry! It will survive, I may want it in the future for something.
