Gotta love it when all 4 members dig a project! I've been a CyHi fan for yeeeeears and I'm glad he didn't let me down with this one - especially since he set the bar so high with that BHP tape. At first there were a couple of tracks I was unsure about (Movin Around & Murda in particular), but they quickly grew on me. Great beats, thoughtful content & lots of wordplay = one of the year's best projects!

I didn't even bother playing this album when it came out because I didn't like Chyi on any of Kanye's stuff. Blown away by how good the album was! So so so glad it didn't sound like a Kanye album! He did his own!
I thought some of his best work was the G.O.O.D Friday collabs. Cyhi went in this album regardless!

You guys please review IWASVERYBAD by Idk. It's ok one of the best albums of the year imo and I think there's songs every member of DEHH will love. There's features from people like MF DOOM, Chief Keef, Swizz Beats, and Del the Funk Homosapien. Seriously don't sleep the album is phenomenal.
I'm just now taking a glance at these comments. To anyone else who (for whatever bizarre reason) actually took my comment of "if you don't like this album you just might not like rap" seriously...please take five minutes out of life and relax. It was clearly hyperbolic. I did not mean that shit literally. Nor was it a shot at any other reviewers as I hadn't even watched/read any other reviews of this album before doing ours. I never do. It's shit like this that makes me think I have to watch what I say so fucking carefully because you guys take every little stupid ass thing so damn seriously and you've been put into a world where you refuse to let "critics" be excited music fans. And excited music fans sometimes say shit that's not meant to be taken literally because they really enjoy something. If you don't like this album, I don't give a shit. It's your life. Your ears. Listenersnotes i get what you mean but it can't be in the forefront if i have to dig through the mumble rap first which is hard to escape in the times we living now. But loving Cyhi and Joyner Lucas fresh new music lately.
Daniel Hill no but my point was people who actually care about hip hop culture will look for them and support talented underground artists and people who don't will complain and do nothing to change it. Essentially if you want lyrics go to the underground and put your money where your mouth is and support some indie artists
Daniel Hill and sure lyrics aren't in the mainstream and as long as hip hop is popular, they probably won't be. Because pop fans don't listen to hip hop for the artistry, lyrics or culture. But with that being said, lyrics really aren't that hard to find for those who actually want to find them

Tbh the bars were great but a lot of the beats were too mellow for me. Like I just felt like I was hearing kicks, and not much else. I didn't feel much of a balance between bars & beats for a lot of songs on the album.
I like listening to his freestyles because I can just nod my head with the great beats they always give him, as well as be amazed by his bars. I didn't feel that on this album.
Nu Africa I swear was played everyday during the summer on Hot 97 in New York at 5:10am

They're buggin' when it comes to "Looking for Love." No, it doesn't have Cyhi's best bars, but musically tho. From the distorted production, to the gospel choir sample, that track is fire.
Cyhi is fire. A fool would think he's not, but he does have some simplistic lines. That "porch of geese" bar is subpar at best imo. Doesnt take away from his songwriting abilities. Push really was talking on his verse, and 2Chains gave us the most poop verse ever.

Listen to the instrumentation again. Crafted incredibly well. The transition on the title track is amazing.
I was really disappointed in that cyhi didn’t bring much of his BHP flair on half of this album. Plus some songs dragged on a bit. Overall decent debut, hope he brings something better in 2018.
Ever V He said he’s doing another Black Histori Project next year, but as an album this time. I personally think it’s good that he’s diversifying a bit. Not every project needs to be the same; ultimately he will leave you with more to enjoy.

I thought this album was great. I only hope it doesn't take so long to hear another album from him. Dude is mad talented, but I wish he didn't have that kanye feature, I don't think it needed that. I fully believe CyHi could carry that project on his own from top to bottom. My review of this album is over on my channel!
