Margit Erb - Director, Saul Leiter Foundation

Margit Erb is the founder and director of the Saul Leiter Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the art and legacy of the influential New York City photographer and painter. Erb closely assisted Leiter for over 18 years. Her talk is part of the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series, which features presentations by digital photographers, hardware and software developers and industry experts. I just ordered a book “Saul Leiter（Photofile）” yesterday, after seeing some of his pictures and watching an interview on RUclips. I was thrilled and knew he was going to change my thinking of photography. Thank God somebody so close to him actually helped him and is taking care of his prints and stuff. A lot of relief to know that today that a brilliant and beautiful lady as Margit Erb has been doing this. Tears came out when I watched this presentation by Margit. Love from China.

This was great...thanks for sharing. I've been a photographer almost my whole life, mostly professional. I started doing street photography on the side a couple years ago and someone online remarked that one of my early umbrella photos reminded them of Saul Leiter's work. I'd never heard of Leiter but decided to do some digging...and I'm so glad I did! His work is incredible and it's had a huge impact on my street photography. I guess I could say he's been the most influential photographer in my life, though I only discovered him last year. So glad his work was discovered eventually though it's heart-breaking to see rolls of film that he shot that can never be processed.
