    Rex & Lav, As an Australian who gets no access to golf channel other than through RUclips, I do really appreciate your weekly podcasts. LIV Golf can't be ignored, the success of the Australian tournament in Adelaide is due to Australia constantly being ignored by the PGATour. The LIV tour was on prime time free to air television here and is still being spoken about. LIV will be successful the more they focus on markets that the PGA Tour won't consider. Whether it is team golf or individuals the fact they are able to take huge names away from the United States tour is why we will continue to attend. This is not about format or which tour, it is about giving other countries access to the best players in the world. PGA Tour needs to open its eyes.

    LIV Adelaide was 50x better than the Zurich, let's be honest. LIV Adelaide was voted the best golf event of 2023 and it will retain it's title this year. Australian golf fans are the best in the world right now, they turned out 100,000 strong and the team playoff finish between 2 great rivals Australia and South Africa was the icing on the cake.

      Agreed. That was awesome golf with the team playoff and drama leading up to it. Way better than pga golf this weekend.

    The course is the big problem with Zurich. They could use a few LIv players, and better tv coverage per usual.
    I’m ok with 4 ball for one round. Would love a scramble and a worst ball or both scores count every hole.
    Playoffs should be alternate shot. I would have also liked to see Liv go alternate shot in Adelaide for that epic team playoff.
    But really what would help Zurich is match play. I wrote it before lav said it…this is why I like scruffy Lav over sands and others.
    LIv Adelaide is legit one of the best events in all of sports. Because of how they treat the fans.
    I would love to see one innovative idea from ssg before we keep praising them so much.
    They have not turned the New Orleans event into a great party because they are not good at leading. If you can’t hold a great party in that city, you’re the problem. Kudos to Rory for trying to create some party atmosphere. Aka doing his bosses jobs yet again.
    You guys keep talking like LIv will change. Rahm has already backed off on 72. He thought it might help unite sooner, but since he realizes it won’t, he has moved on from that.
    America viewers are coming. Many are still scared to be able to like LIv.
    Hong Kong in bad weather was packed. A lot of the US events like Vegas also in cold weather had plenty of people. Even sleepy mayakoba had a great crowd when Sergio and Joaco played off under the lights. .
    We have known about the shameless euro loophole! Fining and suspending your heroes to let them play for free. All to complete with no honor because the other team can’t have their full squad.
    If I was rahm and the others I would boycott until they make fair rules; as Rory has called for. There is no honor in the euros winning over a diminished American squad. We need to care about that. This event is about honor.
    If you are a euro or an American you should be able to be picked. But you should also have a way to qualify no matter where you play. It’s that simple.
    Strong arm is very fitting. The wire guys like Sergio didn’t know then. It felt like principle at the time. And I still feel
    That way. Again suspend. Ridiculous Fine. Now you can play. That is crazy imo.
    Rex is such a company man. Again I like Lav who is willing to at least somewhat question very questionable moves by their bosses.
    Finally I hope delta hooks y’all up with something.

    Saying the pga tour wants to be like F1 is ridiculous, one is a solely American sports league and one is an international world tour. Americans thinking they are the centre of the universe will always be a problem for the pga tour.
    And again saying the tv numbers for LIV weren’t good, maybe in the US but what about other countries…….according to these guys I guess other countries don’t exist.

  • @Noeau
    @Noeau 3 месяца назад +1

    Again Liv golf has top golfers in contention every tournament. This week was extra dramatic with the team winner up for grabs. When that happens with 4 teams in the mix, 16 players shots and scores coming down the stretch is critical. That is way more interesting than anything the pga has to show. Rory and Shane beat who? The top 12 players that they beat on the final leaderboard were basically unknowns. Check their rankings. And watch Rory and Shane get a lot of OWGR points for winning this “team” event.

  • @vjnguyen3993
    @vjnguyen3993 3 месяца назад

    The team aspect works because when your team is winning by 6 strokes and there’s 2 holes to play and all of a sudden you see that lead diminish to 3. It’s nail biting stuff. Was at LIV and genuinely every person on the 18th was glued to the big screen either cheering on the Aussie team or booing the South African team. I was cheering on Jon Rahm the final day because he was possessed, a man in a mission and he looked dialed in from his 2 hour practice session all throughout the day until the final 2 holes and I was genuinely devastated. What I’m trying to say is when you have something your passion about whether that be a individual player or a team, you want them to win. And that’s what competitive sport is, barracking for someone to either win or watch them lose and feel pain.

CJ Cup Byron Nelson is the last event to qualify for Wells Fargo. We are at that point in the season where its important to keep an eye on the Fed Ex Cup. Rory went from 44-15. Rex is right, top 50 is the new threshold as a result of the pissing contest. Lav was cranky I bet cause Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer posted -25 and it was enough for a playoff. Australia is golf mad and its criminal that market has been ignored for so long. Considering how many great golfers they have given us.
    To put it into perspective, australia has a population of 20 million. 100,000 showed to LIV. 1/200th of the entire country.
    The US a population of 350 million. That would be like 1.7 million people showing up to a pga tour event. Insane how crazy about golf Australia is.

      Australian Bureau of Statistics : Australia's population was 26,821,557 people at 30 September 2023. At 30 June 2023, 1.446 million people were living in the Greater Adelaide Capital City region. Still makes a great roll up for LIV in Adelaide considering The Australian Open only attracted 50000 approx over 4 days. Your hearts in the right spot even if the stats are a bit wobbly.

    A big problem with LIV is the shotgun starts, I realize they cant afford to cover it for as many hours, but it's just much harder to follow what in the heck is happening. I also will Never care about team golf. Did Rory really even win, or did Shane Lowery carry McIlroy's very fragile mental psyche. Australia is only popular because that market is starved for product. Honestly the best thing the PGA can do, is stop recognizing the existence of LIV. If the Suadi's decided to buy the Harlem Globetrotters, and sniped a half dozen NBA players, there is no way in hell the NBA would consider a merger with some irrelevant sideshow.

      NBA players literally apologize to China whenever anyone takes an opinion on their human rights violations. They're the most sold out professional league of them all. @@_fwd_racecar_ The PGA was losing sponsors. Honda pulled out of the Honda classic after 20 years. So their own product was having issues. The PGA attempted to monopolize golf by folding in every other major tour. LIV got in the way of that. The Majors control themselves and aren't owned by the PGA Tour. PGA Tour looked at their bank account and realized they need cash because their product is barely supporting itself. Meanwhile, youtube golf is actually selling gear.

      @@-Thunder eh, i don't believe golf can ever reach mass popularity, and will remain niche no matter what they attempt to do. it's non-contact, slower pace of play, and really need to play the game to appreciate watching it. so growth shouldn't be the main solution, but balancing their books and making cuts on unneeded expenses to sustain the level of income they do make. but that ship has sailed, and once SSG isnt seeing any return on investment, I'm worried they'll turn the historical traditions into a circus throwing anything and everything at the wall trying to get more viewers. i don't have much more to say on this topic, take care.

      @@_fwd_racecar_ To be fair, only a couple sports really qualify as having mass popularity anymore. Soccer and the NFL. Something like 50 of the top 100 tv shows in 2023 were football games. But Golf doesn’t need to be. It only takes a few million golfers to sell billions in gear, clothes and rounds. I’m not sure what other hobby/sport/pastime sells more stuff. Everything is kinda niche. Which is fine. But the investors behind it all need to manage their risk.
