      Nobody has as many great players or history to remember like the Yankees. That said, the Red Sox, Cards, Dodgers, and a few other teams could pull off an Old Timers Day once, but its hard to sustain that year after year. Yankees have done it brilliantly for over 76 years. Hope some of the "09 guys become regulars. I wanna see Swish, Damon, Matsui, The Core Four, CC, etc... at least once a year at the Stadium.

    • @a.j.4317
      @a.j.4317 19 дней назад +18

      @@dco2006 Absolutely. He was a smart player, and pretty dang clutch when it came to October.
      But shoot, that man was hammered during this ceremony today!

    • @Melbester9
      @Melbester9 19 дней назад +3

      @@a.j.4317That's one of the weaknesses of the shift. If you go to the right side, the 3B covers 2B leaving 3B wide open if base runner at 1B steals. It's a double steal.
      Damon was always a smart base runner. Why you think he stole bases all the time his entire career and with Red Sox? Not to mention he was also a good outfielder with speed and decent contact hitting.
      Too bad the shift is banned. It's hard to double steal if 3B doesn't move to 2B. Have to steal manually.

    • @Melbester9
      @Melbester9 19 дней назад +2

      @@a.j.4317That's why I never understood the reasoning behind the ban of the shift by MLB. There was weaknesses that benefited the offense team.
      Defense was vulnerable to bunts from infield shifts. It would be harder for infielder to catch a bunt if they too far away from infield on a shift and also the double steals if 3B covers 2B leaving 3B open.
      MLB only did it because left handed hitters batting average was low and couldn't practice how to hit the ball to opposite field. Cano would hit to opposite side of the field as a left handed hitter.
      Personally I get why they banned it but it didn't need to he totally banned. If someone did shift on you and you can't hit opposite field, why not drag bunt your way on base? You know what I mean but it's understandable if the whole league hated it.
