Let’s be honest, I know everybody hate AROD , but the guy showed up in 09 playoff , he went beast mode , let’s show some love !
💊
Nobody does old timer's Day like the Yankees
No other team respects past players like the Yankees!
Big facts 🙌🏾 Loved watching the old timers game growing up.
Nobody has as many great players or history to remember like the Yankees. That said, the Red Sox, Cards, Dodgers, and a few other teams could pull off an Old Timers Day once, but its hard to sustain that year after year. Yankees have done it brilliantly for over 76 years. Hope some of the "09 guys become regulars. I wanna see Swish, Damon, Matsui, The Core Four, CC, etc... at least once a year at the Stadium.
Johnny Damon walks into a bar … every morning, and then stays there until it closes.
😂😂😂
Damon's double steal against the Phillies in the 09 world series was clutch and one of the biggest heads up plays ever.
@@dco2006 Absolutely. He was a smart player, and pretty dang clutch when it came to October.
But shoot, that man was hammered during this ceremony today!
@@a.j.4317That's one of the weaknesses of the shift. If you go to the right side, the 3B covers 2B leaving 3B wide open if base runner at 1B steals. It's a double steal.
Damon was always a smart base runner. Why you think he stole bases all the time his entire career and with Red Sox? Not to mention he was also a good outfielder with speed and decent contact hitting.
Too bad the shift is banned. It's hard to double steal if 3B doesn't move to 2B. Have to steal manually.
@@a.j.4317That's why I never understood the reasoning behind the ban of the shift by MLB. There was weaknesses that benefited the offense team.
Defense was vulnerable to bunts from infield shifts. It would be harder for infielder to catch a bunt if they too far away from infield on a shift and also the double steals if 3B covers 2B leaving 3B open.
MLB only did it because left handed hitters batting average was low and couldn't practice how to hit the ball to opposite field. Cano would hit to opposite side of the field as a left handed hitter.
Personally I get why they banned it but it didn't need to he totally banned. If someone did shift on you and you can't hit opposite field, why not drag bunt your way on base? You know what I mean but it's understandable if the whole league hated it.
I was in the 5th grade for 27. I’m 25 now.
28 needs to be won immediately
Must be nice to witness a sports team win a championship though.
I’m a Minnesota sports fan and none of our teams has been able to break the snide since I was born in ‘92 lol
@@jmf9888I’ve only seen the raptors win but I feel bad for you
@@jmf9888 and at least Yankees fans have a shot at 28, and both the Knicks and rangers have a chance at the titles. Minny fans ain't really got chance at title anytime soon
My son is your age, he'll be 26 in October and he's a Yankees fan his whole life and is demanding number 28 this year!
That's nothing I was your age in 2009 now I'm 40 lol.
I was in Afghanistan in 2009 and got up at 2am to watch the yankees win the series.go yankees
Japanese fans remember Matsui's home run in the World Series.
We all do!
I was there
I remember his Homer from his first OT Day. Go-Go Curry did not honor their home run promotion that day.
Matsui was the Owner/Daddy of Mrs Pedro Martinez😂
I'm Japanese. I'm very happy that everyone remember that scene. I love Yankees
Love this team. Miss Matsui so great to see him again.
Would love to have Rivera in the team at the moment
The emotions with the final four from that 90's dynasty on the 2009 team. Pettitte, Posada, Jeter and of course Mariano Rivera. We'll never see another player ever like Rivera, the dude was a baseball God of a closer...
I WANT THE OLD TIMERS GAME BACK!!!!
The fact that Swish had 29 homer runs in '09 and BATTED 8TH tells you how good that lineup was
CC looking in great shape. Good for him!
Remember when CC Sabathia was elite?
That was for only about 3 years with the yankees , he declined fast
@@fernandoposada5440you dumb
@@R_J_G He quit the booze. Now, everyone else....?
CC has always been the man. Love to see him healthy now.

Mark Teixeira?
I hope the day comes when you learn to use proper English.

No Cano, No Melky, No Gardner, No Tex main guys 😢
Cano is still playing, Gardner said no, I dunno about Tex
@@KTF0 2009 Yankees was a SUPERTEAM. It was straight unfair to go up against. Only other modern MLB team that made me feel that way were the 2004 St. Louis Cardinals, the 2004 and 2007 Redsox along the 2018 version of the team. No way you're ever losing with those teams...
Cano is still playing ball in Mexico right now
it’s also who can make it
Melky was never anything special , even roids didnt help him

joe torre coming out makes me tear up. miss you coach.
Hideki made this all happen in 2009. Without him, no WS for Yankees
CLASS personified with the presentations of the widows. Thank you for the NYYANKEES
@AnthonyDRLopez Actually, no. They were first to be introduced, had to walk farthest from dugout, and sat the longest in hot sun. This was a pretty bogus OT Day, and I've been to almost every one for the last 50 years.
Thank you MLB and Yankees for posting this. Having been a Yankees fan since my earliest memory of baseball in 1961, seeing these Old Timers is really something special. I remember watching the 2009 seasons and playoffs with my two sons and wife. Special times…
This is awesome! I can’t wait to show my 14 year old nephew! He doesn’t believe me when I tell him the Yankees have won a World Series before!
Unreal
I was present at Yankee Stadium in section 130 on November 4, 2009 to see the New York Yankees win their 27th World Series Championship. Awesome feeling that I will never forget. This reunion is special and I wish I was there.
Am I the only one who remembered how good the bullpen was, but on hearing Kay announce Lloyd, Nelson, Rivera, etc realized that their memory undersold how great they were? What a complete luxury the team had with that pen. They just about never failed to do the job.
Very few ppl are more grateful than Johnny Damon and Nick Swisher to have been NYYANKEES!!!
Nick Swisher should be just about the most universally loved player of his era. Nobody I ever saw looked happier to be playing baseball. His emotions are what we all showed as kids. It is infectious and joyful to watch. Always glad to see him jog out to the field in the pinstripes for OTD.
I was a freshman in high school in 2009. I’m 30 now lol sheesh time flies. One of the greatest moments in my life though. Pure bliss 💪🏼
28:11 my favorite Yankee of all time #51
Likewise
I am not a fan of them. My blood is as red as my Red Sox Nation. But coming from a beautiful island in the Caribbean where most of my family are fans of you, from my grandfather, my father and my brothers (all of whom have gone to eternal rest), I feel that they would still be proud to be Yankees specially Bernabé Williams Figueroa 🇵🇷
My man busted out Bernies actual name. Well done. I bet most people don't know that's his name.
I was lucky enough to grow up near where he played AA ball. He always had time to chat up the young fans, and even knew our names and would see us coming over and call out to us. Great guy, great player and I'm in lockstep with you. Bernies my favorite baseball player ever.
GOZIRA MATSUI ‼️
2009年のワールドシリーズMVPは忘れない。

Girardi should still be Yankees manager.
He doing well in the broadcast booth
Jeter should be skipper
@@charlesallan-ks6gq that be 120 wins every season 😝
DJ was the closest thing NY had to Tom Brady in that era.
Johnny Damon sounds like he's drunk, which really wouldn't surprise me considering his history
The 2009 Yankee players look like they could still play! I know it’s only been 15 years but they still all look good.
15th years ago the Yankees won their 27th world championship amazing to see a lot of Yankee OGs yesterday.
You think the Yankees would let a future Hall of Famer like Joey Votto retire in a minor league parking lot? Mark Shapiro/Ross Atkins THIS is how a class organization treats legends of the game lol
Idk I’m not happy how they treated Arod at end of his career by not letting him get to 700 home runs by playing him as little as possible and forcing him into retirement in august. I don’t like like how they did Girardi and brought in dopey Boone. And I especially hate how they ended things with Gardner. They do treat guys decent, but they definitely have their favorites.
That 09 was so awesome.
Damn that ‘09 was DOPE!!!
I’m proud of Gozzila.
Man I got tears in my eyes!!! Love my Yankees! A fact Tib Bit: The day I was born Oct. 18, 1977, Reggie Jackson hit 3 home runs to help seal game 6 against the Dodgers for their 21st world series title! I left the Hospital few days later in a pin stripe onesie. #RoadTo28
They must definitely have some very nice memories before going to sleep. It's really nice to see them together again, I'm a big fan of those 2009 Yankees.. ❤❤❤🎉😊
Time for Mariano to come out of retirement and be the closer
Nope. Too old
He'd be more reliable than Holmes!
He still would blow less saves than holmes lol
Sure. Getting older and older. That's been the Yankees' solution since 2009.....
These guys look great ! They walk with a certain swag and confidence that comes with knowing they were world champs. One of the best teams of their generation. Fun to see them reunited.
Entrance video got me crying at work. Really had it good as a kid man.
Glad that the Yankees honor these men now that they are living, I bet they have a flashback galore of their good times as a Yankee player. Hope other MLB team do this more often.

2009 Yankees team was amazing and if the Yankees didn’t have Arod we don’t win the World Series without Arod.
Johnny Damon is one huge factor. Dude won WS in both NY and Boston, hit a GS in game 7 of 2004 ALCS. What a career!
この場に日本人が立っていることが本当に誇らしい
Bernie Williams is underrated. He is a HOF and one of the Great Yankees.
Looking at these teams line ups and then looking at our current one its depressing. I dont think we have even half as good of a team as those 😕
The 2009 teams OPS was 0.088 higher than the 2009 MLB average and the 2024 teams OPS is 0.061 higher than league average.
Not saying you're wrong about the lineup, you aren't. It just illustrates how crazy the combo of Soto and Judge is. Those two alone probably account for the same offensive output as 4-5 starting players on the 09 team.
And the fact that the ‘09 team, from 1-9 in the lineup, other teams would’ve been proud to have everyone of them in a 1-4 spot in the lineup. Every single player could take you deep! Just about everyone hit more than 15 homers that year too! With the exception of Gardner. You literally could not pitch around players. It’s the “who do you want next?” A pitchers worst nightmare except for Cliff Lee.
And the Yankees would pay tribute to such a great moment by being absolutely embarrassed.
By the damn Rockies, of all teams.
Need Godzilla in playoffs
54:55 absolutely wasted 😂😂😂
Lol 😂
Three players who should be in the Hall Of Fame: Mattingly, Bernie, Petite
Bernie 100% should. People don't realize how insane his numbers really are until you dig into them. He had a higher OPS than Ken Griffey when Griffey was the face of AL power hitting.
O'Neill
It’s too bad we never get Mattingly back for these old timers days as he’s either coaching or managing. His ovation would be huge. I think I remember him at the 2000 version and his ovation gave me chills.
松井は偉大だ
The 2009 Yankees would absolutely smoke the 2024 team, and it wouldn’t be close.
