Your channel is literally the most beautiful helpful channel for me :) It brightens my day so much when i watch one of your videos. This one really helped because i recently stuggled with a lack of motivation. Thank you!

Wooow. Everything you said resonated with me, 100%. I'm constantly frustrated about the very stuff you mentioned, especially about family not being supportive.
    Thanks for this video.
It really helps knowing that fellow artists go through the same potholes in life and you're not alone in the struggle...*sigh*
    Writing does indeed help...

I stopped painting three years ago. A few months ago I applied to participate to an exhibition and now I'm apparently in a way better place and create work after work after work! Next weekend is the exhibition and couldn't be more existing.

I love your videos. Great job. What you talked about on this video is so true.
    1) I had to cut out negative people in my life (also people that have no support for me). They can be toxic for your art. I had one friend who would always talk about how great his work was and I would show him mine and every time, he would say "Yea, but look at mine!" "Most artists need a day job, etc". So I had to cut them out of my life on a normal basis. I surround myself with people who support me and "coach" me when I was feeling unmotivated, down, etc. My wife is the best! She helps and now even suggest elements in the images and damned if she isn't right! :)
    2) I have OCD and ADHD and it is a per-requisite for an artist to have to be an artist - we look at all things and are aware of all things even if our mind can't process everything at once, we will later.
    3) I work as well on multiple paintings (kind of a secret to painting in oils as you have to so you can be productive)
So your blog is awesome! Thank you for putting out your emotions and feelings about being an artist and I'm going to take your advice and write down things in the morning. Good idea to get focused. :)
You're great, keep it up. You are is wonderful too! We never stop learning and we are always never satisfied nor should we be. :)
    Best wishes,
    James Christopher Hill

As a script writer i find that getting ideas from my dreams works best for new material. that stuff is always original. For instance i was writing a story where the main characters were ghosts and i was able to do that because i had a dream where i was in ghost form. I would focus my energy and in order to pass through walls and solid objects. I even tried it on people and was able to possess them in the dream - move them around like a puppet master. It made for an interesting perspective and so i was able to get inside the minds of my characters better and know how they'd react to certain situations in the story.

I think I've found my brain twin. For so long I've felt so isolated and different but since I stumbled across your videos the other week I've started to actually feel human (for lack of a better word in my vocabulary) again. No one understands my thought process or how I tick in general but I just feel like you do even though you don't even know me at all 😂😂😂 please keep up the awesome work you do, you've saved this dying artist 💜

I love this talk. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this. I'm currently working on about 7, it's quite handy as I use a layering technique and with oils taking so long to dry..... you know.

Good to know that I'm not alone with my overthinking. I reckon I'll try to write my thoughts just for a few minutes in the morning. Hopefully, thanks to that my mind will clear up and I will be able to see some progress just like in your case. Although my biggest problem is mostly connected with thinking too much while I draw. At the beginning of my creative process, I'm attacked by all of the negative comments present in this world. I don't know how it happens. It is a bit of a struggle and takes some time after it will go away so that I can work in pure dedication to my creativity.

It's crazy how the first issue you addressed is the same issue I've been struggling with for years. At one point I thought I had ADHD art-wise. I tend to get both motivated and lost when I look at photos online for references or inspiration.
I will definitely be trying your method, not to the exact amount, but very similar. Thank you so much for being open about your struggles and how you've learned to overcome them. You never know what kind of life you will touch through your advice, and as someone who's been stressed and convinced of not improving, I truly appreciate that one of my most favored artists has gone through the same thing and became a better artist through it. It gives me hope. Please keep making these videos! It's amazing and inspiring!

I've put so much energy into translating all those hamsterwheeling "bla-bla-bla-blas" into writing. I'm also not scattered per say, but sifting through all that internal material really does open up the space inside, so I can focus and put real energy into art. And my process of writing and brainstorming has itself deepened a great deal. Honestly, my visualizations go lightyears beyond anything I presently understand how to make. I think it's going to continue to look confusing to people for awhile, but there will come a day when all the pieces click and some really wild stuff begins to emerge. Can't wait! I'll show you somehow.

i can easily relate myself with the writing thing, but the only difference is i write at night so as i don't sleep to 'sleep over a problem', but so as i 'sleep peacefully'! Yes keeping away friends is true too. And im gonna try making my own reference. Thankyou so much!

It's tough being a full time art teacher and try to be creative/productive at the end of the day. One thing I've found that's helped me is doing the same or similar project that the kids are doing right then and there during the lesson. It isn't feasible with some classes or age groups but it helps me stay motivated and at least a little productive. Great videos and insights Lena!

I recently discovered your videos, and they are helping me out so much! I struggle with anxiety and have had a hard time trying to find work (i.e. jobs that I feel comfortable doing)... anyway, I want to somehow make a career out of one of the creative outlets I use haha (if that makes ANY sense, I have no idea), but yeah, the idea of being able to make a living doing a creative job as opposed to doing non-creative jobs (which quite frankly terrify me) would be amazing. I'll stop rambling now. Basically, I love your videos and work. :)

I can relate to this. It’s frustrating when you only have a space for one painting (I do large scale) and your brain works in a way where you need to work on multiple paintings for the same reason you mentioned. In this case it’s easy to get distracted by unproductive and rather destructive elements to the point where you just carry on feeling stuck and you don’t get that refreshed mind feeling. God help me haha

The artist's way journaling! I'm going to try these tips because I feel like that. I've been stuck on this one painting for like two years (granted its 4ftx4ft and has a lot of small details) but I think I am just bored with it. It's true what you said about reference material too. I spent a couple of months on a painting and I was growing around on deviant art and found the exact same picture used in a painting. Haha needless to say I'm going to try the idea again with my own picture 😜
