I grew up in Manitou Springs Colorado, at the foot of the Ute pass, and I love old west / cowboy poetry. I wrote a funny cowboy poem a while back that is about as long as this one. I called it The Man They Couldn't Kill. I've only shared it with a handful of people, but they seemed to like it, or were just being kind.

Gah-ally Andy! At Gad, you are an interviewer, a poet, an inspiration and funny to boot. If you are ever in Eastern Montana, you got a place to stay on the ranch. We have a spare acre or two for you for a few days

Not one of the audience members understood the weight of the line
"OH I could pen her, but then could I sleep?" Nothing funny about that line. The Man that wrote this poem was in tears when thinking it up, dreading the moment he brought that Ole cow into the lot to end her hard earned freedom and see that look of defeat in her eyes. Like he said, she was one of the last of her kind, and I , like him, hope that Ole gal never did see the inside of a pen
