As someone who has double helix because my first switch was bundled with the skin, I honestly don't think it's worth it to buy a whole console for fortnite cosmetics. This especially applies to former item shop wraps that have become semi-exclusives that are sold with real life items such as those sd cards and gaming chair.
Those wraps are not even semi-exclusive, one just came back recently

I feel like people also neglect the fact that actual usage can equate to rarity. Just think about the last time you saw someone run a skin, let's say sun tan specialist. Although it's not super rare in terms of last seen in the shop, at 523 days, you rarely ever see it in the game. Meanwhile, the sought-after Travis Scott skin is something I see in almost every single game.
If you have a rare skin you’re gonna use it, if you have a bullshit skin like sun tan specialist that no body cares about and you can not flex I swear you’re never gonna use it 💀
That’s why you see the good rare skins ran, but that doesn’t quit the fact that not many people have them
I don’t think Fortnite would ever show their hand, and release numbers, if they want us to keep buying they have to hide it 🤷♀️
Also they couldn’t keep the exclusive feel to some skins like Neo versa

Crazy that people don’t realize that, if you played during the season when we got the custom Maya skin from that BP is probably your rarest skin in your locker. It was a custom made skin for YOU to change how you wanted to look. That’s a one of a kind skin and isn’t something anyone can get.
Alot of players have Maya its common af sure its customization was huge and unique but that has nothing to do with rarity lol
@@simonshura9144 Common how? She's literally the only skin in the game with said uniqueness. That in itself makes that skin rare, i haven't see a custom skin like her since her release. Most rare skins you guy's are crying over nowadays are just color swaps of already made skins in the game. If you don't consider that a rare skin then i don't know what is.
Rarity in Fortnite is definitely an interesting thing as I’ve noticed recently. The only incentive to having rare stuff in Fortnite is just because it’s rare. There’s no monetary incentive to owning certain cosmetics because you can’t do anything with them afterwards whereas with LEGOs for example you can at least resell them for a profit years later. I can’t do anything with my rare Demogorgon skin I have in my locker right now but I can pretty easily resell my Lego Mystery Machine set from 2015 which has just about quadrupled in value since then.
There are several blackmarkets for selling fn accounts on google btw so u dont know what ur talking bout lol

Hey I talk just want to say that I have been loving the content recently and also the streams are alot of fun.
Amazing video! I would also consider releases as a factor for "rare" item shop skins, an example would be. Special Forces is 1400 days with 32 releases and Sureshot is only 1000 days with 1 single release, I would consider sureshot to be more rare than special forces.
I would like to see what the community runs again if possible, very underrated series in my opinion
Still very funny to me how an emoji (cameo needs loot) is the rarest thing in the game. Also we now have collegiate cup rewards which are already region locked and obviously allow people in college only

Rarity in of itself is a topic that keeps Fortnite’s player base up in numbers and when it dies out only thing players will care for are the exclusivities
your point on codename elf brings up another thing, there's been several skin cups where the skin comes with a third item in the item shop but that third item wasnt granted to cup winners so cup winners tech have a rarer version of the skin. Examples would be Obi Wan and his pickaxe and Ali A with his glider. I won both those skin cups but when they released in shop they had cosmetics sold along side the skin that cup winners weren't granted or could obtain unless they bought the bundle.

I still want Special Forces, not because of it’s rarity but because I think he looks super cool and I have a few combos in mind
i luckily got him and i will tell u he is a super solid skin, i hope he comes back in the vaulted a year or more next month so u and many others can pick him up :)

I had switchstep before it came back, and it wasnt that big of a deal when it did, I was kinda gutted but I was happy it came back because my nan wanted it so we could do it together. I'm honestly so glad it came back now as we do it all the time, and I don't understand why people get so mad when rare emotes came back.

It's important to note that the availability and rarity of skins in Fortnite can change over time, as new skins are regularly added to the game and some older skins may become available again through special events or promotions. i think my top 5 rare skins in the game would be Black Knight, Galaxy skin, Renegade Raider, The Reaper, Aerial Assault Trooper.
Definitely not the reaper, but pretty good list besides that.

People just know the most popular rare skins like Ikonik, Galaxy, wildcat, fresh, wonder, scenario, the season 2 bp and that kinda stuff, people don’t know what’s rare on the item shop
Rouge Agent also came out in season 6 (chapter 1) in the item shop

Here's my view on what I consider rare in the game:
Rare - Item shop cosmetics last seen 500+ days, over a year old Battle Pass / Starter Pack cosmetics
Super Rare - Some platform exclusive cosmetics, item shop cosmetics last seen 1,000+ days
Ultra Rare - Season Shop, Purple Skull Trooper / Pink Ghoul Trooper, item shop cosmetics that only appear once in not for so long days
Starter packs are honestly just rare, everyone have those skins and they are bullshit, I never use rogue agent or the one from season 4 cause they are ugly af 💀
Also not every platform exclusive is super rare, I’d put Neo versa, rogue spider knight, surf strider, wildcat and the ps plus skins on just rare, they are very common

Thinking about that, I'm moving the "Battle Pass / Starter Pack cosmetics" to the "rare" category, because there's tons of people who have Midas. I'd say it's a very popular skin.

people think rarity is how many days it’s last been in the game, when it should be associated with how many days it’s been PLUS how many times it’s been in the shop

Only a few things that I consider rare in my locker are the Daring Duelist skin , stage slayer, wasp glider, the psion axiom set, and the deep sea set

I wonder where he considers cosmetics that Epic put out and have said, “These will not return” like the FNCS skins or OG Paradigm. What about cosmetics that had the plug pulled on them? Rue (for instance) was only available for half of one day before getting canned, so where does that sit?🤔

i bought fresh when it first came out in ch1 season 2 and im so glad i did. not only is it “rare” but its also my favorite emote so best of both worlds. i also own black knight who is definitely less saught out for but is my main skin and i considered sort of “rare” ig.

3 rarities in my opinion:
Item Shop rare: rare in the sense that it hasn’t returned to the shop in a while, but many people could still own it…like Travis Scott.
In game rare: rare in the sense that you don’t see it all that much if ever in game regardless of how many people own it. There are so many skins that a lot of people own, but never use.
Not that many people own it rare: these are items that just not that many people have in their collection. This could be for various reasons like exclusives, twitch drops that not many people cared to go for, or even item shop skins that are just plain, boring, or ugly that nobody wanted to waste v-bucks on.
In order to truly be rare in my opinion it has to be a combination of all 3. An item that very few own, you don’t really see in game, and doesn’t come to the shop often… if it was even obtainable through the shop
But remember rarity doesn’t matter, I get the appeal to want to be unique with your skin choices and nobody wants the feeling of using the exact same thing as everyone else (unless you do), but don’t let it define your gaming experience.
I have stealth reflex and I never see it ingame, and honor guard either
I have a glider called Globetrotter which is my favorite glider in the game and it came out back in season 8 and it hasn’t came back
we all know the rarest skin is just a random one not a soul wants to use. Sterling comes to mind.

To me, rarity of a combination of how long its been since it's been out, how many times its been out, and how many people actually bought it. Sure, if Aura suddenly was over a rare out from the item shop, to me she still wouldn't be rare just because of how often she was in the shop and how many people already own her.

It's not rare at all. Been in the shop 32 times already. God of War is one of the biggest games and alot of people bought it when it was in the shop last year. It's definitely gonna come back as well.

I don’t understand why people get mad when rare item shop come back when the battle passes item are even more rare, I always see a salty black knight skin when rare item do come back, I don’t care about rarity I care about cool dance and emote to use when I play
I see the only skins rare from the battle pass since there's no way to get this after the end of the season which doesn't seem fair to new players
I missed out on Skye and I would seriously give to of my battle passes just to get here, and I want Wildcat just because I like the look of it, not because it's expensive
Aside from season 2 cosmetics the rest was just to easy to get just look up how the difference in exp gain to unlock the black knight it was insane and only the sweatiest no lifers would get him simply because u couldnt buy tiers ☝️
