I for one am interested in seeing you play the series all the way to the end of Arkham Knight. The first game in the series pretty much invented the free flow combat system that other games would go onto use. You have my vote and I can't wait to watch this new video series unfold over the next few weeks!

Motorata you have the inventor and than the person that makes it accessible to the public. Like someone who made the car and than someone that made assembly line so the public could use them as well. Spider-Man 2 is the Skelton for it but the Arkham series perfected it and made it accessible.

No wonder. Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin all reprised their roles from the DCAU, having voiced Batman, the Joker and Harley for seventeen years at the time this game was released in 2009.
Each one of them are usually considered to be THE definitive voices for the characters.

Alyce I recommend you turn on detective mode often. You'll find things easier as well as have an easier time knowing where enemies are since you'll see them through walls.

I like this entire series including Origins. It's no coincidence that Spiderman PS4 took a cue form it. The mix of gameplay and understanding of the source material makes every game work.

Arkham asylum is my personally favourite for one reason, arleen sorkin, she is the woman who voiced Harley Quinn when she first introduced in the 90s Batman animated series and this game right here was her last time every playing Harley, don't get me wrong tara strong is pretty good too but I have to go with arleen, she really brings that child like innocence and funny killer punch to the character, also whenever I'm reading the Harley Quinn comics I always imagine her voice.

Heard you ask about if we played or liked these games, yes was one of the first games I 100%, though was like 9 years ago I think when this released. I liked them all, Arkham knight was the most modern visuals obviously, but they were all similar and fun. The newer games are a little more open to explore the city

I think you'll really enjoy this series it's one of my absolute faves, you will be able to see how Spider-man took a lot of this games concepts in terms of combat and made it even better.
I like to think that the guys with the combined sentence of 752 years are just 3 small time robbers with a semtence of 2 years and 1 psycho serial killer with a sentence of 750 years.
That female computer voice drove me nuts. I was like "I know that voice from somewhere" and then it dawned on me. She did the computer voice of Nomandy in the first Mass Effect. The one that says "Decomination in progress" while you stand in the airlock.

As a fan of the Batman Animated Series, it was a real treat to have BOTH Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamil (Joker). Arkham Origins didn't have either so you're right in starting with the Rocksteady games. Enjoy! Ps this game gave me the creeps at some points- jump scares await you!!!
Batman Arkham is 10x better when you know a lot of characters and villains. So much Easter eggs in this game.

When Joker is talking to someone, or even you on through a TV screen, you should pause for a little bit and listen. You can learn some interesting info, and some funny things can be said, rather than just waking away from it.

Alice, I think you can open your inventory of batguns, or not yet, unlock more movements, etc.
Remember that this game was the first good super hero game, and the first of this saga, while you continue it gets more smooth and it flows better. The dynamics etc.

After having played spider-man i can't really go back to this series for one reason: batman handles like a tank.
Origins had some of the best boss fights in the whole series, arkham knight which just had tank battles instead of actual boss fights like when u have to fight deathstroke in a tank!
Arkham Origins is probably the second best game in the series bar the very first game in my opinion. Lots of people just hate it because it's made by different people but it has a great story as it's set when Batman is in his prime/younger days and has much more detective game play than any of the other games.

Okay some advice (in case it wasn't given below already). Yes, you should be sniping the joker teeth when you find them; as you noted, they give you xp. I'm not sure they will hurt you, so it's okay to ignore them. Despite their ties to the Joker, they're actually part of the Riddler sidequest (which you doubtless know by now). You don't have to aim to hit them, just do a quick click on the button that throws the batarangs; that's mainly true for anytime you need to use the rangs, Batman will aim for you.
This brings up the Riddler sidequest. There's only one that you absolutely have to do (which I'm sure you've done already), and it's easy. In this game, the 100% Riddler completion to beat him is, in my opinion, not worth all the backtracking, but they help farm xp to level up your gear and abilities quicker. If you do get 100% collection (which requires also finding the cheat maps by the way, so you might as well take them), the only thing that happens is that Batman & Co. do something they should have been able to do much sooner, and the Riddler story is resolved offscreen in 15 seconds. It's fun to listen to him slowly realizing that Batman is going to solve his challenges, but even that can be effectively done without wasting time finding all the collectables.
"How can you tell when they're proper knocked out?" -- look for the little stars around their heads -- still there, not knocked out yet. I think there's a distinctive set of whooshes, too. If some bats whoosh out of them, then you're picking up xp and they're down for good. Update: if they're holding a gun and you're in detective vision, they'll be knocked out when they stop glowing red.
An easy way to get rid of the teeth is by using the quick fire batarang All you have to do is tap the trigger so you don't have to aim at the teeth.
I remember seeing this in Gamestop in 2009 and thinking, "I wonder if it has any connection to The Dark Knight movie." So I bought it. After playing it for a few hours I forgot about thinking about if it was connected and just had fun. Forget how many times I played it but then I stopped playing it and actually forgot about it, until 2011 when I saw the trailer for Arkham City and I was hooked again. Been a fan of the series ever since, can't wait to see what Rocksteady does next.
And yes, you should continue playing this and the rest of the Arkham games, even Origins.

Alyce, you probably figured this out by now, but a key part of combat -- especially with the big guys -- is the cape stun. Hit circle when near your opponent, then punch them while they're dazed to perform a beatdown. With the really big guys (the titan thugs), quick batarang them when they're charging and once they hit a wall punch as needed . Also, hit triangle when you see lines over a thugs head to counter. Also also, the batarangs aren't really an offensive weapon capable of taking down enemies directly, so outside of direct combat they're not much use.
This is the first Arkham game. You can't perform those moves until Arkham City.
@@rlam905 had to check that since it's been a while, but the stun followed by beatdown is in this game. It's just the ultra stun that is the later ones. Guess we're both right 😊✋
@@brentage5000 Nope you're source is wrong. I replayed Asylum not too long ago and after you do the cape stun in this game you just continue the normal freeflow punches and kicks. You will not find a video of anyone on RUclips doing a rapid punch beatdown in Arkham Asylum. I shall be greedy and take all the glory in being 100% right 😀.
@@rlam905 well...fair. *I* call that a beatdown, but if you wanna be technical and say it's not a bat-beatdown like in the other games, that's cool too. Like I said, though, it has been a while since I played it myself. Probably just need to reboot the PS3 and start 'er up again

I'm actually getting back into this game because I'm focusing on The Riddler's Challenge, because I want to get into character when I go to Tampa Bay Comic Con as The Riddler.

Oh this Batman Arkham Asylum. Out of all of them this is my favourite because the locations are tightly designed and it makes more sense/feels less crappy to navigate than Arkham City. And I didn't play Arkham Knight because I'd fallen out of love with the combat system since most western action games around the time felt the need to imitate it.
I do believe Joker in this game is voiced by Mark Hamill, so yes, the VA is GOOD.
Who ever told you that Arkham Origins isn't that good, they lied to you.
The points to playing ArkOrigins: (1) many things in ArkKnight reference it; (2) its DLC Cold Cold Heart retells the Freeze origin from the DCAU in a nicely epic fashion; (3) now that the bugs are (mostly) ironed out, it's just as good as any of the 'official' trilogy, even though not as game-changing as ArkCity was. Especially (4), the animated acting looks the best of the series. Also, though it's too late now I guess, (5) it's seasonally appropriate for Christmas.
Now, having said that, the 2.5D sequel "Batman: Arkham Origins: Blackgate" is hamstrung a lot more, and I recommend only watching a movie compilation of it (which can be feasibly done in about 1-1/2 hours).
Best hero and best superhero game franchise of all time. Spiderman came close but i just prefer the darker tone of the Arkham games. Batman and his allies and villains are so good and so well written. Enjoy the series!

The chattering teeth are annoying, but it helps you get used to the lock on with the Baterangs, so it will become 2nd nature taking them out, and you get rewards for doing it, so it's worth doing.

Try not to button mash, the trick is to only press square right as batman has hit the enemy, during that move the analog to the next enemy as you press square to keep free flow combo going. It’ll help massively. Btw you need a 3x combo before you enter freeflow. Look forward to seeing you progress :)

You asked about explosives. No idea if someone has responded yet, but this is a "Metroidvania" style of game. You unlock shit later on in the game, that allows you to reach earlier parts of the game that were inaccessible!

Origins is definitely criminally underrated. Maybe if you enjoy them enough you might change your mind and give it a go as well.
Some advice,in the stealth section it's better to glide behind enemies and perform silent takedowns with triangle,if you just need to step off a gargoyle double tap the X button,and in combat you can only counter when the enemy that's attacking you has blue marks over his head,of it doesn't or has red marks you can't counter it,make sure to make counter your second nature for the fights
