Look, between all the unfairness targeting him from the ISU and JSF, I can't even say I'm sorry for his retirement from competitions. I'm just glad his continuing on his own path and pursuing his own figure skating. He is the king of this era, and he always will be.
it actually feels like he's just off to heal his body and might surprise us with a come back after a year or 2. He's hardly doing any show or tour and simply trying to land 4A which - IMO - is moot point if he had actually retired for good. Years ago, according to BOrser - they have been talking about his retirement after PyeongChang but Yuzu is just kinda stubborn, he said it light heartily and amusedly
Yuzuru Hanyu’s scoring had always been interesting, he tends to be underscored when he does well but overscored when he doesn’t do well (I.e having multiple falls).
I love his entry to the jumps. He flows right out of the step sequences into the air. Amazing technique. And such poise, with all those eyes and cameras trained on him!

And at the end of the practice he says that he is very tired, how can he not be with so many jumps that he has done in a single practice? I wonder where he gets so much strength and energy from being asthmatic, Yuzuru really is an unusual case for everything. @@ciriaespinosa7423 Yup. During comps, he's almost always injured. He seemingly can't do a Lo and Lz while technically injured for 4A. It even affected his 4S, imo, in the Oly.
There's this Rodney Mills who replied to me saying Yuzu is "really quite old to be in this sport" but I wonder if they deleted it. Yuzu does get injured a lot and in the practice it is evident that he pops some jumps due to the pain running from his right hip to his ankle. But he also proved in the same practice that he can still perform those jumps.

Loop is edge jump, legs cross over before takeoff. Flip is toe jump, usually entered through a 3-turn before takeoff. Personally I confuse flips with toeloops the most since they are both toe jumps entered from turns.
@@turtlefeesh Flip is with the right foot and Toeloop with the left foot, what is hard for me to identify is Flip and Lutz because they are both with the right foot but the edge is different and very difficult to see at this speed.

Can someone explain why he quit if he is still practicing extremely difficult jumps? Most people quit cuz they cant take it anymore and want to relax from all this!
He's retired from the very high level official competition circuit. He has not, thankfully, quit the ice altogether as you can see. As for his reasons, that's his personal choice. We will continue to see technical and artistic innovation from this greatest of skaters.
I think Chen will never comeback and will retire next season. In the next winter olympics his going 26 and will not be the next Olympic champion coz many skaters now has a lot of jumping technique. Some skaters just retire after the olympics

Can someone explain why he quit if he is still practicing extremely difficult jumps? Most people quit cuz they cant take it anymore and want to relax from all this!
He's retired from the very high level official competition circuit. He has not, thankfully, quit the ice altogether as you can see. As for his reasons, that's his personal choice. We will continue to see technical and artistic innovation from this greatest of skaters.
