This story has really set my brain on fire for the past few weeks, and as soon as I heard this song, I knew this had to be made...even if it meant learning how to do it from the ground up. Hopefully the transitions/movement landed on the side of "visually dynamic" and not "giving people motion sickness" :U

1:48 I can't believe that it never occurred to me before, but Laios defeats the Demon by becoming an Ezekial Cherub. That's why he's depicted with 3 beast heads and 1 human head right here.

The demon conquered by a Seraphim, I can't believe I just now caught that. Ryoko Kui is the mangaka equivalent of Terry Pratchett, I swear to God
@@nyx7694 If you'll let me be autistic about angels for a second, Laios wouldn't be a Seraph, (the singular version of the plural Seraphim,) but a Cherub, and this specific depiction is an Ezekial Cherub. (Though his actual form is a more traditional Cherub.)
Seraphim are described as many winged and with bodies of flame - especially in Ezekial, although the descriptions in Ezekial are explicitly metaphorical since they're part of a prophetic dream. However, a lot of ancient art also depicts Seraphim as particularly serpentine, likely implying that seraphim were at times inspired by foreign mythical creatures like naga and dragons.
Cherubim meanwhile are described in Ezekial as having only four wings, but having having four heads of different beasts and horse hooves for feet. In ancient art, however, they are depicted as a wide variety of mythical creatures, from centaurs to pegasi to sphinxes. This is because, while Seraphim were transplants of serpentine myths, Cherubim were transplants of chimeric myths! Any creature that was a chimera of different creatures was considered a type of Cherub, with special focus on mammals mixed with people or birds.
In the text, Laios Monster OC Original Character (Do NOT Steal!) is definitely closest to a Cherub. It has multiple heads, specifically four if you count the eel/serpent tail, and it also has wings and four mammalian feet. But you know who else is a Cherub? Falin! Dragon Falin is centaur shaped and has *four* feathered wings, despite those not being present in the original mix, so I think it was definitely an intentional design element on Ryoko Kui's part.
The Winged Lion also somewhat represents a Cherub, as he's basically a winged sphinx. However, this element changes as the story goes on - he grows more wings to cover his body, and his shape becomes more humanoid. This is very similar to Ezekial Seraphim, implying that he's growing in power. Later on he's seen as as not a concrete creature but a mass of monsters with many eyes and wings - although this doesn't map 1:1 with any angel, the angel it most resembles are the Ophanim, also known as "many-eyed ones." An Ophan is basically angelic particle physicals; literally, since they upkeep G-d's creation on a fundamental level. While Ophanim aren't stronger than a Seraph per-say, they are notably less human and less living. The Winged Lion's original form as particles of magic most closely resembles an Ophan, making the angel theming congruent throughout his entire design process. And We can't forget the fact that he's literally a lion - do you know what level is above the Seraphim? The "Four Living Creatures" or Hayyot. These are generally recognized as Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Uriel. And Michael is known as "The lion-headed." So an angel with a head of a lion is essentially Michael himself, the most highly regarded angel in all of mythology.
The other demon forms aren't super angelic, tbh. They very much match up with ancient depictions of demons, however. And when Winged Lion grows horns, he also resembles demonic art. This is where the Jewish elements stop and the Christian elements kick in, since Christianity has more artistic depictions of demons due to their increased cultural relevance. The relevance in question is that in Christianity, demons are fallen angels. And the demons are literally particles that fell to Earth and were corrupted by life outside of a paradise of endless pleasure in the sky. And the demon then spends all of its time trying to rise out of an underground trap of monsters in order to reach the sky again, so it can connect to paradise. The Winged Lion isn't just an angel, but a fallen angel that wants to reach Heaven.

For me tough. Winged lion is some sort of God in dungeon meshi, the problem is he has a desire. Because he also the reason they have elves, dwarf, etc.

Cause I read both the manga and the world building side book and I don't remember anything about the winged lion creating the dwarves and elves. If anything they most likely predate it's existance as an active force in the world. As a matter of fact if my recollection of the lore is correct it suggests that if anything they created it by trying to tap into the realm of infinity.

Honestly, same. spent a whole night reading it in it's entirety.
I just noticed that elves, as a long-lived species, have been trying to take over the dungeon and control it, but every elf that becomes the dungeon lord is unable to achieve this. It takes a tallman, a short-lived species, to actually defeat the demon. I just think it's neat.
That's quite the misunderstanding, you see elves and dwarfs knows about the nature of mana and the dungeon but only with bit and bit of scattered history by their predecessors like for example they thought that the dungeon came first before the demon while the truth is the opposite of that but what do they know is that the demon is an aspect of mana magic system and is crucial to it so they don't want to lose it and sought to controls it to a degree that they can manage without em losing their mind or desires and they also refers to the demon as a wish granting magic so they maybe see the dungeon and the demon as one of many means to get their wish fulfilled granted they exercise those wish granting power with caution ofc
Elves and Dwarves, at least the authorized one, actually suppressing the knowledge about the demon/ Lion, so people not abusing the system.
The Demon is my favorite character so i can't stop rewatching this, great job.

I mean it doesn't even want to do anything bad to you. It legit wishes that you succeed in whatever you wish.
But damn if its not a slimy bastard that will talk you into the direction that it wants.
You know what the really scary part is? It wants what you want.
It wants you to be at the peak of your desires, to be at the top of your life so that your emotions and desires are at 1000%, so that it can take the moment and eat it.
It literally knows what you really want, and will use it against you.
There were other similar villains, i wont deny that, but none wanted you to succeed as much as the Winged Lion.
A true "devil". While his infinite power already scary, his persuasion and charm is the terrifying aspect
But just like a villain as Bill Cipher, a being of inifinity made an oversight. If your a dealer, don't make a deal that'll result to your downfall

Didn't expect this cooking Dnd manga to get so complex, but not a thousand appreciation posts can describe how much I love it
this wish demon is one of my favorite antagonists in recent memory, and the best portrayed force of nature as an antagonist I have read in a long time. its not evil, but amoral and incapable of understanding the harm it causes, and worse yet indifferent to it it.
The song fits so well omg. I just finished the manga today, and mannnnnn The Demon really takes your desires and then uses it against you. This is a really cool edit. Man. I just loved how the manga in all seriousness still had its humour throughout.❤❤

Can't wait till season 2 when this stuff actually gets animated. Senshi's backstory, the Winged Lion, the Changelings. I honestly feel sorry for Sissel, basically got groomed by the Lion to be a snack. Sissel isn't innocent by any measure but god he got a fate worse than death.
His name is actually Thistle but the official manga eng translation team mistranslated it then refuse to admit their own mistake. They even went as far as changing Thistle info page, that have his name spell out in english by Ryoko Kui, from Thistle to sissel.

This is a remarkable fit. Thematically, probably any song of desire could evoke the lion, but lyrically, I'd believe you if you said someone had written this as his theme.

i find it so funny that Laios has the same energy as TFS Goku, and as soon as he found his "Muffin Button" aka becoming a monster he went YAAAAAAAY! and somehow got out on top, you may question his methods but not his results

thank you!! i’m a little old fashioned when it comes to editing style, but i put a lot of thought into panel/scene choice and how they interact with/enhance/reinterpret the lyrics they’re paired with. bringing new meaning to both the song and the story/art/characters is my favorite aspect of amvs :)

Idk if I’m reading too much into it but the Winged Lion feels to me like it’s pulling from more Buddhist ides about desire, cuz in Buddhist teachings, desire is the root of suffering, and the winged lion is in a constant state of desire but never actually fulfilled

I love that in the manga, and I hope in the anime as well, it never goes through flashbacks of when the Winged Lion was manipulating them. So once you read the manga a second time, you actually notice how it's been carefully leading the party because it could sense their desires.

i don’t know most of the flashier editing tricks and techniques lol. from what i’ve researched though, a lot of things are pretty time intensive (doable for a 30 second edit, less so for a 3 minute song when you have a day job and other hobbies lmao), require paid programs, and/or just don’t suit the vibe i prefer.
i know it’s a little old fashioned in the era of hyper-energetic fully animated tiktok edits, but i like to focus primarily on using the lyrics and panel choices to enhance and reinterpret each other, with editing to just kinda support that goal rather than stand out on its own.
