- I attempted to play Civilization 3 on Deity for my first ever game. Turns out that was quite the challenge. I enlisted the help of Suede CivIII, an expert in his field, to guide me towards a brighter future. It worked a little bit.

This is quite literally the Civ 3 experience.
I miss upgrading my palace. It was my favorite feature of the civ games.

Some of those alternate civilization leader portraits that they have in Civ 3 are very bizarre. Joan of Arc bald in an army t-shirt is insulting to me as a Catholic and no doubt a huge turn off to those who thought she was cute.

I played exactly one game of Civilization 2 on diety level.
My capital was founded and three turns later was sacked by a Spanish horseman. I'm not sure how I was to prevent that, but I never tried again.

Great video as always. If I may ask, do you plan on doing XCOM 2 at some point or even doing an XCOM: Enemy Unknown video in this edited format (particulary the vanilla version because the bugs and map balance for that one make impossible even more bs).

Which version of Civ 3 is this? If its an early version, there is a bug you can do where your artillery can bombard anywhere on the map.

Don't know if you've already realized, but Civ 3 has a difficulty that is harder than Deity, which is called Sid.
Maybe try the game out again on this difficulty?

@@ribps289 you should look at guides on how to edit the conquests.ini file to make sure the resolution stuff is not messing with your launch

Civ3 is so bad. Huge step back from Civ2. Focused way too much on the graphics (which look horrible now) and not enough on the mechanics. Like for instance at the special trait of bonus against cavalry that the pikeman had in civ2. Do you think they included that in Civ3? Nope! Combat was a total mess because they removed firepower so it's based on nothing but RNG! Corruption made every city more than a few tiles away useless. The bombardment system just encouraged stacks of doom, and was tedious and annoying as well. Teleporting railroads were in Civ2 as well, but they really should have been fixed in Civ3 already. Tons of great scenarios for Civ2, but thanks to the lack of event triggers in Civ3 you really couldn't make anything good. That being said I still played probably thousands of hours, I can't help it!
Never played the first two games but Civ III was so much more fun to play than IV or V in my opinion.
