True story, I sang in a group with Martin in the early 80's in Northern California. He did a duet with my best friend and was brilliant at duets even then. His voice was already spectacular and powerful as a teenager, and even though we were all kids I never forgot him, he was that good. He was also a really nice guy.

Martin Nievera in his prime in the 90s had the most beautiful voice among our male singers. As the story goes, he saw Regine perform one time and brought her to his show Penthouse Live where Regine met her would-be-manager Ronnie Henares, who was so impressed with her. In fact it is Martin who gave Regine her new name "Regine". At the time she was known as Chona Velasquez when she won the national singing competition. And the rest as they say is history...
Martin is also the one who believes and supported KZ Tandigans Talent and supported her all the way to music. He even walked KZ on aisle when she got married. Like he is Dad to KZ in music industry. That's why Martin is a wonderful guy. And pure voice talent as well. He is a legend in Philippines music industry but kept to be a low profile. Seems our Ovela only one who has a good eyes in ear of spotting and appreciate a real talent without bias. And make funny face about Martin's performance You're a great guy.
Saw this concert live. All I can say it was jaw dropping! They are my fave singers of all time.

It was a 2 night concert and this performance was their second night and last leg. You would notice how Asia's Songbird catch her breath, exhausted but undeniably superb still.
the most epic duet from broadway created ever in the concert history of Philippine Music Industry. This is so enchanting and both carried so much lung power. Superb performance!

Martin Nievera is the Philippines’ concert king since the 80s. Up to the present he still packs concert venues more than any other singer in the country. So you can just imagine the crowd of a joint concert of Regine and Martin.
Martin is the contemporary of Gary Valenciano who is known here as Pure Energy and Martin is the "Concert King!" He already made a niche in the music industry here!

Regine was very sick during this concert but she nailed all her performances (you can see from her facial ecpressions that she was sick). She made a lot of remarkable performances n this concert. These 2 are the king & queen of OPM. This concert has 3 repeats in the Philippines due to public demand. Even the President of the Philippines in 2003 watched this concert. They are 2 of the music royalties in the Philippines until now especially the Queen Regine. Again, thanks guys! Love you both!
