  • Hello all! Today I'm reviewing the Arteza alcohol brush markers, the latest marker to come from Arteza. As of the date I created this review, Arteza offers their brush markers in 5 sets of 36 count and 2 sets of 12 count markers to fill in their wheel (although they may have more release in the future).
    Today, I go over the basics, pros and cons, and how they perform so that you can make your own decision whether or not these are a good investment for you.

      @@ColorfullyOptimistici think the critiques were incredibly constructive. Part of the reason why W&N, Copic, Prisma, etc are regarded as real artistic creative tools is because of their well thought out approach to colour range, ordering of open stock, a colour chart that makes sense, and the reutilisation of their products. We never doubted Arteza for the quality of their products, but they’re learning and growing structurally within their business and they should listen to what you said so to better appeal to the trained hands and eyes!

    I got these markers as a compliment to watercolor paints and other mediums.. I am not a huge marker person. I bought all the sets (since I got them with afterpay) and the tropical set was the cheapest and I like the blender so I am glad it was included. I’d have been ultra mad if it was extra. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I agree with you on most of this… and I probably wouldn’t buy Arteza products on the whole if I was able to use afterpay to buy products from other suppliers.

      Yeah I wish Arteza rolled these out better. Honestly, if they added refills, didn't do the silly sets, and had open stock options, they would be an amazing marker.

    So many good points. Thank you for the review. I just swatched out a couple of these sets and do like them but the nibs do feel quite soft. Did you find this? I do want to get the portrait set but I do hate the fact that there are repeats. I sure hope they come out with the replacement brush nibs, refills, and then a complete set that you can purchase rather than having to buy all these separate sets and getting duplicates.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад

      Yeah, there is something with the nib that is not quite Copic-like. The repeats really do bother me, and if they don't come out with a combined set and the replacement nibs, this entire set seems rather silly. They really should consider refills if they are doing replacement nibs though. Because honestly, by the time you wear down the nib, you're out of ink, so the replacement is rather useless.

      @@ColorfullyOptimistic I’m like that too with mandala’s. Finish them quick and not have to think. But if I use a marker as a base and then use pencils, the markers always seem too dark. I need to invest in Distressed Inks.

      @dianeellis50 3 года назад

      @@ColorfullyOptimistic There are a few triplicates also. I contacted Arteza about it and said that i didn't think it was fair that we pay so much money for the pens and end up with 43 pens that essentially won't be used for a period of time, and i would have preferred to either have 43 extra colours (who wouldn't) or eliminate one of the 36 sets, or if they were to offer open stock it would not be a problem at all. They were really understanding and said that they would look into it....

      @@dianeellis50 yes in my review I point out where you will get triplicate if you buy all of the sets. I've let them know my thoughts as well because as of right now I'd rather just buy Copics due to how these are sold and they aren't refillable

    I got given a huge set of Chinese cheapies and totally agree with having to buy a whole set just to replace ones that run out :( so I am going to slowly replace with copics. They would have been better if they were different colours from the others they do..I’ve just swatched the 144 ultra Everblends…I have the original sets and the colours were supposed to be different…they’ve been cheeky and renamed some. The 144 set come in a box that splits into 4 parts but once you take the wrapping off they separate so the only way to store them is inside the lid…open to dust etc. I found this out by accident and played a nice game of 144 pen pick up…🤣🥰

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад +1

      Yeah when they went from Everblend to Everblend Ultra, it was not a good marketing plan at all. No clue what they were thinking when they did that one to be honest.

      @be_a_bright_sparkle3687 3 года назад

      The Ultra were over £300 when they first came out and I contacted them to ask why? What was the difference and were the colours different? They never replied and the price eventually lowered but their buying figures said they had a fair few sales at the higher price…could you imagine if you’d got them at the higher price? They missed a marketing opp with the brush nibs as everyone say they want these nibs…What do you think?🥰

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  2 года назад

      Yes, the other sets would overlap what I have already. The three I purchased were Deco, Flora, and Tropical. Buying others sets will result in duplicates. That said, there was a lightning deal the other day, and I bought the Portrait and Pastel sets for super cheap. I'll have duplicates, but I like the markers. Supposedly they may come out with refills - we shall see. So, I'm not tossing any away yet.

    So you keep saying they are not refillable and you cannot replace the nibs.. but you can refill and replace the nibs. I plan on refilling with copic ink

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  Год назад +1

      When I say they are not refillable, I mean with their original ink. Any marker can be refilled with Copic ink, for sure, but I'm discussing this brand specifically and Arteza doesn't sell refills (yet) of their ink. At the time this review was made, there were no Arteza brush nibs sold - only chisel and bullet.

    I hate when companies do that. It's such a huge f u in the face. It's obvious. I will never buy them now.😡 Have you ever heard of Sanjoki alcohol brush markers? Dual tip permanent. 120. Under forty bucks. Nice case. I have them in my cart. Amazon. I saw someone demo these months ago. I was going to get them then, but they were out. They were nice. I have to try them for that price. The duplicate issue frustrated me too, because I really do like these markers. I reached out to Arteza to see if they planned to release the markers as open stock, since currently the only open stock alcohol markers they have are the old formula. They basically said “what a great idea, we’ll pass that on!” I wonder if trading within the community between people that have the various sets would be an idea? 🤔

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад +1

      I actually like these markers too, but with the duplicates they aren't worth it. Furthermore, the replacement nib is rather moot, since you'd run out of ink before you need a nib (hopefully). They do have their old everblends in open stock (4 packs...) but the cost per marker is not worth it. By that cost, you can buy a Copic with refill and call it a day. I really do hope they fixed a lot of the deployment here. 1) no more themed sets, 2) finish converting the Everblends to brush, 3) just have one large set, 4) come out with refills. In the end, these are not competitive with Copic because in the long run you pay more for these than a Copic and at least with Copic you have more colors :(

    • @QueenofFlannelColors
      @QueenofFlannelColors 3 года назад

      @@ColorfullyOptimistic I agree. Especially with the mixed messaging on replacement nibs. I’ve seen a lot of comments that “replacement nibs are coming”, but I feel like putting that on the box and not having said nibs ready to go isn’t the best play. I also wonder how many people have bought the nibs on the website thinking they were for these and then realizing they were for the old Everblends 😔
