Japan: 9.2 Earthquake Scenario in Real Time (Nankai)
- Here's a hypothetical scenario simulation of a magnitude 9.2 earthquake on the Nankai Subduction Zone in Japan.
----------------
These simulations along with my piano music (Spotify/RUclips: @pardonmypiano) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.
------------------------
I hope that my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)

The Nankai Trough earthquake will possibly be one of the most powerful and scary earthquakes on Earth
Probably not. It's extremely unlikely to be 9.0+. Probably in the low 8s at most. The last time it happened in the 1700s, it killed about 10000+ people. Not that bad.
i live in Japan and i felt the 1/1/2024 earthquake... it was the most SCARY thing ive ever experienced.
bro, this isnt even related to my comment and the video bruh
@@Manly_face
The 9.1 magnitude earthquake in Sendai in 2011 was much worse than the recent one
I didn’t experience any of these earthquakes but I know they’re already TERRIFYING
ik but i didnt even existed in this year.the strongest i felt is the 2024 one.@@itz_andrey9137
@@Manly_face speak for yourself. In case you don’t know the facts the USA did horrible damage when we dropped the atom bomb. This has nothing to do with that anyway. It’s mindsets like this that perpetuates hate and war. Japan is a beautiful country and I feel sorry that they keep getting these life ending earthquakes. I will be praying for you all in Japan ❤️
@@taylorrafayt oh yeah what about 3/11/2011 thats when a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit japan and when a power plant exploded
You should note of the regional seismic intensity scale being the JMA intensisty scale "Shindo" scale ranging from Shindo 1-4. 5-/5+, 6-/6+, to 7
I like the details like aftershocks and triggered earthquakes happening in real-time before the main earthquake is even over. Perhaps a similar video could be done for Cascadia, though it would be interesting to experiment with partial ruptures of the Cascadia megathrust in the range of magnitude 8.0-8.8, or perhaps different epicenters rather than just sticking to Northern California, as that hasn't really been done before on RUclips.
Reminds me of how a few years back there come out this paper about how the subduction zone south of Java have potential for an 9.0+ eq which freaked everyone out for about a week
A simulation of how that would go down would be an interesting one to watch i think
Earthquakes are very common in Japan. However, this has positive aspects.
In many countries, an earthquake of magnitude 6-7 can be devastating. In Japan, people go about their daily lives without worrying about earthquakes of that magnitude. Buildings are also built with earthquakes in mind, so they are not damaged by that level of earthquake.
Even in Japan, an earthquake of magnitude 8 to 9 on the Richter scale causes a big commotion. However, people help each other and riots do not occur. Some buildings are damaged, but most buildings are still safe.
I live in Japan. I was very scared by this earthquake, and the epicenter was close to where I am.
I just experienced, so I know how scary it could be, bless you all!
Hi Earthquakesim, can you do an hypothetical Panama earthquake of 8.6 at the subduction zone near Coiba island and Chiriqui Province (In real time)?
how did you simulate this?
Is there any chance that you are working on a simulation for the 2011 Sendai Earthquake?
You mean the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake?
@@EtrilandYou mean the Great East Japan Earthquake?
@@CBFNetworksInternational The 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake and Tsunami is one out of the two main names.
Yup. That earthquake, guys.
@@Etriland Blud I Found you
Thanks, this is fascinating. Is it speeded up, or is this how fast it propagates?
It is in real time😊
@@EarthquakeSimThanks! It does not give much time to prepare, even if you are at some distance from the epicenter.
@@Carfree-Cities you are absolutely right! S wave speed travels at 3 miles a second...
Can you do 2020 İzmir Earthquake?
Hey bro, even though I'm of course a little late to the party, would you like to do a real time simulation of a hypothetical magnitude 11 mega-earthquake caused by the combined rupture of the Japan Trench and Kuril-Kamchatka Trench one day? 😀
Because I, and perhaps many others as well, would love to see how that one might play out, and if the planet of Earth itself as a whole might even be affected by such a quake. 😁 😉
Can you also visualize the 2004 M9.1 Sumatra earthquake?
I would love to see a simulation like this for the UK! It would be cool to see as we don’t get mentioned much in seismic simulations
Can you do 6th February Turkey earthquake
What will it be like if (God forbid) magnitude 9.0 hits Tokyo like it did in1930 ?
Chile is first story of Magnitude 9.5 since 1960
wow that must've been so scary im so sorry japan
its a simulation

Thank you for making a video like this!
The Nankai Trough mega-earthquake is a really big earthquake, and we know it best.
However, this is not widely known overseas. That's why videos like this are so important.
However, due to the periodic nature of Nankai Trough mega-earthquakes, it is said that there are about 30 years left until they occur. What is most urgent right now is a major earthquake directly hitting our nation's capital.
Please pray that the number of victims of a major earthquake will be reduced as much as possible.

Also, since Yokohama is a larger city than Kamakura, the damage is likely to be greater. However, Kamakura is an area with 800 years of history and heritage.
By the way, Yokohama began to be developed around 300 years ago, the same time as Tokyo.
Can you put chile please? Its also very tectonic active and also it had the most powerfull earthquake of all times. The earthquake was not a 9.5, 9.5 was the máximum the seismograph could sense, the Valdivia erthquake could be a 10, will never know. You probably know when it was…
Sometimes, strategies link circular-dispersion of osaka-busan and busan-osaka. Some countries have munitions others don't. Others merely redirect forces to convenient-epi-centers and techtonic-teutonic terminology-geography. Discredit of results by stories is entertained by similar IQ social-groupings.
Was there a simulation, just moments ago.?
¿Could the next be Mexico? is a really sismic country, pleeeeease
Did anyone see that M6.4 earthquake that hit Japan next to the Nankai faut?
Yeah, I was in Okayama and I'm very scared
@@ibu__ Don't be scared, be prepared. Earthquakes can be forecasted like the weather.
