Interesting (and good) to hear that the times between them all are minimal. I use VRS as they have lap guides and the telemetry tools are good as well. Nice vid man. Enjoyed it
This was a great test - setups are like clothes, you've just gotta try out a bunch of them and see what fits because everyone's built a little different. Setup shops also change and morph over time as the people behind the scenes change, and you might prefer VRS's setup for one car, and Craig's on another, because they're made by different people. Long story short, those that spend the time investigating which one fits them best will extract more of their potential speed. Most of the time I use VRS, but when Pure Driving School was more popular I used to love theirs even though theirs were REALLY knife edge. Also had a fling with Craig's.
As a vrs user I’m every happy with it, you get a setup that’s fast and is similar to the fixed ones in a good way so it’s easy to jump from fixed to open. You also get a lot of extras like detailed track guides, setups to A LOT of cars, telemetry and much more.
I am about 1 year into my iRacing career and have used CarigsSS, Majors Garage, Maconi SS, and I used Watson SS for most of the time. I run all Nascars series primarily but I also run Open-Wheel and GTE some IMSA stuff. I just don't feel any set up shop setups open sets are winning set ups that give you a technical mechanical advantage to like maximize grip, top speed, areo, and tire wear. I know skill does a lot but I have spoken to experienced high IR/pro guys who say the setup alone is a 1k+ IR gainer driving the exact same way. The only difference is the setup gets more out of the tires.
What is the reason for the coach Dave bias? Are they low in customer satisfaction? I’m new to all the setup stuff edit: bias; meaning what would have you thinking they had the slowest setup, before going into the test?
Interesting that you ranked Coach Dave at the top despite the stability concerns, then the very next one you were worried about instability if you have to alter your line in traffic. Not saying you're wrong, since it's obviously completely opinion, but my (3.7k) experience with Coach Dave's setups have been that they are just way too optimistic. They seem to be built on the assumption that you'll run a perfect race with great car control and minimal improvising, but the moment you have to do anything except hotlap they become a death trap for me. Side note: was the iRacing setup just literal baseline? One thing to note is that the baseline has a weirdly high nose in the Porsche. Even the medium downforce sprint setup at least has the nose down where everyone else would.
TT is nice but nowhere near compared to VRS, had always stability issues and very passive community. Also garage 61 is nice and serves the best performance smooth experience on web however user interface needs an overhaul.
As another video it would be interesting to see how much pace everyone would extract from making the most basic adjustments (i.e. change ARB settings) on their own vs the default.
Love it. I'm always on the edge about which setup shops I pick because there's no way to "try" setups without buying it and I cannot justify buying multiple setups as I live in a much poorer country than the US. Thanks for helping me decide on what to go with moving forward.
Glad coach Dave holds up nice, I use them as the delta app is very useful as well. For 10 a month I don’t think I will look elsewhere. Nice and informative video! 🙏🏻

I have tried three setup shops, and it's hard to compare because different people are making the setups. One week, you love the Porsche GT3 setup, and the next week, someone else makes the setup for the Porsche, and you just hate it. I have tried VRS, GnG, and Coach Dave subscriptions, and I personally found GnG to be the best for me overall. As a driver with a 3.5k iRating, these setups seem to suit me the best. I like that they often have both normal and safe setups, and when I'm not feeling the normal setup, I can always control the safe setup.

I wish we could somehow do this test for every IMSA car and track! Craig's LMP2 at Le Mans for me is a whole bunch quicker than VRS for example, and has way better tyre wear.
Plug and play Craig’s is definitely slower but after some tweaks (usually with rear aero) I find it to be one of the most reliable and they always have setups that can tank kerbs
Nice to see this sort of test haven't heard of a couple of these (P1 Doks, Grid & Go) and surprised Pure didn't make the list regardless still to see a test like this. But honestly, since iRacing introduced the Low, Medium and High Downforce Sets I stopped using setup shops, like you said the pace is similar on all sets just they extract it in different ways. I'm a 2.5k GT driver when things are going my way but until I start making top split regular and not once a year paying for setups doesn't make sense.
Me and my team just get so used to what to expect from a VRS setup that we've never really bothered to try looking for another setup to migrate to. It's not just the learning process of new setups but also the convenience factor for me that makes me stay with VRS.
