What I'm doing this year is making hot sauce from my peppers. Then I dehydrate the pulp and then save or grind that. Two uses from one batch of peppers! Win Win!
Excellent video! Lots of details. Think I'll try this next year. Thank you, Jill, for your very simple and informative videos!
I have been waiting for a vlog about grinding pepper powder. Thank you Jill
Why have I never realized that Paprika comes from a pepper?? D'OH!!! 😳 So much great info!! Thank you for including the name of pepper... very helpful for us beginners to know a tried & true variety
I just found your channel this morning. I have watched three videos so far. Very informative. Thanks so much❤
Love your channel - thanks for this great video. I would like to see one on making your own garlic powder.
Good for you love ❤️ your vlog s
I grew paprika peppers also this year. I had a bumper crop and had enough for a few years and to give to family. We don't like hot so I grew the Nadapenas.
I went to a Mexican restaurant that put rice in the salt shakers to absorb moisture. Hope this helps someone.
Great video, you make it look easy to do. What seed company do you recommend to grow long cayenne pepperd?
I do this a lot. Take safety seriously. 😃
Where to get the seeds for these to start off that would be good organic seeds?
Where do you get your paprika pepper seeds from?
Thanks for sharing. Never knew that about spices. And where did you get those small jars? They are the perfect size.
They were gifted to me, but I believe I've seen them at Wal-Mart.
Thanks for sharing! Great information. Where did you get your dehydrator? Or what brand is it?
It's an excalibur. You can get it many places -- Amazon, Walmart, etc.
I noticed you wore gloves while prepping the peppers but not after drying. Are they not as caustic when dried?
I've never had an issue with them after they're dried. I definitely wash my hands handling them because even the dried pepper can irritate the eyes, but otherwise it hasn't been a big deal.
How many chili pepper plants did you plant? I would like growing and drying my own next year of the same variety.
I believe I planted about 4 of each.
Do you save those seeds from them to plant again?
I don't because peppers are often cross-pollinated by bees, so the seeds wouldn't grow out to be true to same type, most likely, since they grew so close to other varieties.
What would be another option for drying peppers without a dehydrator
If you have a cool area of the house, you could hang them or lay them flat. I've done that before. Just make sure the area is ventilated.
You don't get choaked out by the pepper in the air during dehydration? I been taking mine outside worried we'll all be coughing and crying lol
Actually, no. Onions are a completely different story! But I'm guessing because the peppers' moisture content isn't high, it doesn't get into the air during the dehydration process.
so 5-6" peppers aren't big enough for you, you prefer 8-9" peppers. I see where this is going....
Love your videos very informative but please the H in HERBS is not silent. A none American thing lol
