Hi Isabelle, I'm so glad that you are finding great ideas here. I'm also happy to hear that you will be taking the Red Cross course. It is worth the time and money to do so. Thanks so much for being a subscriber, I appreciate it.
I recommend putting a book in the bag with multiple stories in it. The “5-minute stories” series is really good. Right now I have the “5-minute snuggle stories” in my bag for bedtime, and I also I have a book called “The frog and toad treasury” which only has three stories but the kids love it. Also, with kids I sit for a lot, a choose a chapter book and read them one chapter each time I’m there.
I haven't started babysitting yet, but when my younger cousins come over they love making paper bag puppets! You can use crayons, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, yarn ect
It was an investment, but I have two folding wagons. I started bringing my toys in one when I still lived in New York City, but now that I'm in a normal car type area, I stick it in the back of my husband's SUV. I pulled a 5 year old back from the library in it yesterday. Some kids like to pull it. It's been used to pull dogs, too. It's a real hit!! It also has cross usage as I used it for laundry and grocery shopping in NYC and still use it for grocery shopping, like today when I wanted to clean out the store of my favorite drink and I knew it's on a top shelf so I used my wagon instead of a shopping cart so I could stand on it to get up there.
Great ideas! For younger kids in the summer, bring some paint brushes and use water to paint on the driveway or patio. The water will "magically" disappear as it drys.
I recommend magic maker coloring books, I know that some kids like to color in the wall or on the table but magic maker books allows them to just color in the book.
Something I do and kids love it I get the bath crayons and I say wanna draw on the wall the kids love it they think it’s so cool and I wash it of right after
I don't really ask I just do it in the driveway. If you think they would have an issue with it, you can alway throw water on it when you're done to wash it away.
Hi Lydia! So I’m 11 and I’m just starting to babysit. Is there any activities you recommend for a 7 or 8 year old specifically? Thank you so much for these videos they really do help!
Hi there. Congrats on starting your babysitting career. Take a look at all of the videos that I have done that have to do with games or crafts. I'm sure you will get some ideas there. I also like to find out what the kids favorite games are to play and what they like to do so we can do those things. The kids I sit for in that age group like to play board games because I always put a little twist on them. They never know what I'm going to do. I am going to be putting out a series of game videos within the next couple of months or so. Keep an eye out for them. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful.
I babysit someone in my school who is in grade 1 once a week, I’m not able to go to my house before babysitting as we either go straight to his house or to the park and I can’t bring anything in my bag as I have homework and my bag is already packed. What should I do? Thanks
Yes that can be hard. This is where good planning comes in. You will want to bring things that are flat like the games that I have made that you can find on Etsy or create a craft kit that is small and only uses up paper. Maybe it is even possible for you to carry a separate small bag with you that would have some small things in it for him to play with.
Hi! I'm 14 and babysit a 2 year old boy and a 4 year old girl but the girl has major special needs so she can't walk on her own or talk. Any advice for me on things I can do to take care of them together and keep both occupied? (the 4 year old is about mentally 1!) I babysit for 8 hour shifts on average. I get 5 dollars an hour. (Not per kid just overall) and I'm aware that's below asking but I love the kiddos.
You can all ways go to creating sensory activities! Pinterest will have a lot of great ideas for those ages and usually the activity takes up a lot of time and holds their interest!
I’m 15 and I just started babysitting my brand new neighbors 1year old iv babysat before but it was always family friends or family or the ages of 5-7 but I’m really struggling finding something fun to do with this one year old besides play with her toys I really wanna challenge her and make it fun and not as if it’s just mom or dad at home I don’t really know what to do with her that’s fun and engaging there’s only so much I can do with a 1 year old
I have games on Etsy that are fun and challenging that you can check out! At that age I would work with her on her colors! You can also create sensory bins for her to play with. Keep in mind that her attention span might not be that long and she may not engage in something for longer than 10 mins! www.etsy.com/shop/Busybugeducation?ref=shop_sugg_market
I'm so glad you took the course. May I ask what you are struggling with? I did a video on a sensory bin. Here is the link to see it. ruclips.net/video/wRGlecTVte8/видео.html
I have a lot of people that I follow on instagram that are friends of family. How should I ask them if I cant meet in person? Should I tell my aunt to tell her friends and let them know or should I text them myself?
Hi, Do you mean so you can babysit for them? I would let your Aunt know that you are interested in babysitting and that you would like to sit for some of her friends. Ask her if she can introduce you to them. Let everyone know that you are a babysitter. They won't know unless you tell them. :)
Well, I had help from the families that I sat for. They were happy with me and started to share my name. Watch the video I did a couple of weeks ago titled “My secret to getting more clients”. I give away some good stuff in there.
Hi! Me and My Friend Are Thinking About Babysitting (If we do we are going to have Masks and Gloves) We Are Both 10 Right Now And She Will Be 11 Next Week, Are We Old enough to Babysit 2-6 year olds?
Hi there, Your timing couldn't be better. I have a video scheduled to come out this week that covers that exact subject "At What Age Can I Start Babysitting" I'm sure you and your friend will get your answer. Hope you will watch. As far as masks and gloves that will have to be up to the parents of the kids that you are babysitting for. All of the parents that I have been sitting for are ok with no mask or gloves. Keep in mind that you do what is good for you. If you don't feel comfortable wearing one and they want you to, you don't have to babysit for them. If you want to wear one and they don't care either way then wear one. Thanks for the great questions and for watching the video.
Hi Jess, I think it is as long as everyone involved is ok with it. If you have taken your courses (CPR & Babysitting) you should be good. Don't take on more than you can handle like 4 kids or a child that is too young. You know what you can handle. Don't try to do more than that to try and impress anyone, thats where you can get into some trouble and someone can get hurt. If you are having a hard time finding jobs because you are young, find mothers helper jobs. I did a video on that, go check it out. Good luck to you.
hello Lydia, beautiful name btw, but you're probably not gonna read this but umm..i wanted to say thank you so very much you gave me so many great ideas I'm going to go shopping on Amazon and go to the dollar store now :) and I'm really excited to be getting my red cross CPR certificate and I'm so excited to babysit I love kids so much thank you for your advice. keep being you! :)
Awe thank you. Your name is beautiful too. I'm so glad that you are finding value in my videos and I am so glad to hear that you are taking the CPR course. It's so important to be prepared. Besides Amazon, you can find some great things at consignment shops too, and for a lot less. Just remember to wash the items really well and wash them after you've taken them from house to house especially if you have small kids putting things in their mouth. Thanks again for watching and if you have a topic you would like me to do a video on just let me know.
Hi Kaley, Thanks so much for watching my video. I appreciate it. I'm excited that you will become a babysitter soon. I started when I was around your age and my mom too had input on that. I really think that you should discuss with her why you think you are ready now and as long as she feels you are ready then yes. You have to show responsibility and maturity because you will be in charge of another human being. You have to be ready and know how to handle any type of emergency that may come up. If she doesn't think you are ready right now, ask her if you can take some babysitting courses and CPR/First Aide courses in your area so you can be ready when she give you the okay to start looking for those babysitting jobs. I hope this helps you and I'm sure you are going to be a wonderful babysitter. If you have any other questions please ask. - Lydia
Hi I am Lena, I love your videos!! Anyways i had a question, I really want to start babysitting with my friend and I am only 12 is that a good age to start or am i too young? Another question is is it possible to take online babysitting courses for like free? I really don't want to pay for that. I understand the CPR and First Aid course but can you please help me!? ~Lena
Hi Lena, I'm so glad my videos are helpful to you. Thank you for watching. I started when I was 12 too. Yes CPR and First Aide are a must have. I currently don't know of any free online courses but maybe you can check with a local hospital. I think that sometimes they have free courses, not positive though.
