@@aleeahyusuf I am so happy for you! Make sure to be cautious when sitting the kids and remember to have fun. This summer is quite different so we as babysitters, want to make sure the kids enjoy it!
Do you have to take classes to be a baby sitter I'm turning 13 soon and might start this year while I'm 12 or when I'm 13 but I'm not sure if you need to take lessons and stuff
I have to babysit 2 boys 4 and 7 on Saturday from 8 till like 1 or 2 somthing like that How do you put little kids to sleep if they are scared of the dark and they don’t have a night light
Hi Kara! Thank you so much for commenting! First, this is a discussion the parents should have with you before Saturday ASAP. They are well aware that their kids have trouble sleeping in the dark and most likely have a tactic to put them to sleep. Make sure you either call or text them today ASAP. Hope this helps :)
I'm about to become a baby sitter too! (After this corona stuff) this is super helpful! Question though, you know how you aren't supposed to leave the child alone, what if you need to use the bathroom?
For infants to toddlers there are play pins you can place the child in securely while you use the bathroom! For the older children like 5 years old and up, all you have to do is talk to them on their level, and explain you are going to the bathroom and will be right back. Show them exactly where you are going so they do not worry where you are. Leave the bathroom door a tad bit open. Also, utilize the bathroom located in the same space where the child is. Example- if you and the kids are playing in the living room, make sure to use the bathroom that’s located near the leave room not the one upstairs. Hope this helps!
No, it is optional. However, if I were a parent I would prefer to hire a babysitter with a form of certification. Check out my BabySitting Course video.
The Babysitter Guru I'm not a parent, however, I wouldn't want to hire a babysitter without a bona fire certificate. Why? Because it would scare me to much.
Hi there! It always depends on age. If the child is an infant and can be strapped into a booster seat, high chair etc. you can Place he child in front of the bathroom door open. What is the age of the kids you babysit for?
Hi Kaeli! Great! You can only put the 1 year old who is strapped to a booster seat or high chair in front of the door slightly opened. Any children older then 1 years old, please attempt to go to the bathroom while they are sleeping and you have the baby monitor with you OR limit the amount of liquid you consume to avoid frequent bathroom breaks. Was that helpful?
Hi Kaeli! Hope all is well 😊 I am currently collecting testimonials from babysitters on why they like being a babysitter and would love to have you submit one as well. Will you be interested?
Hi Hannah! Babysitting is the perfect gig you can start to make extra loaner. I did it at 16 years old! Email me at thebabysitterguru@gmail.com for some pointers ☺️
Hi Ted! Yes, I do! Boys are rambunctious! Make sure you have a lot of outside time with them using precaution of course. Limit electronic/t.v. time as much as possible. Create science experiments with them as well. They love to build stuff with their hands. One last thing, they must nap if you have them if you babysit them during the afternoon hours.
I have a question٫ I am a beginner at babysitting and my mom is finally letting me babysit but lotion and body spray and all of those other things like gum wouldn't it be unsafe if the kid ate the lotion or body spray or choked on the gum
Hey! Those are considered your personal items. The children I care for do not have access to that bag when within the home. It is placed in the closet. If you are outside with the kids, be sure to have the items for them to play with already handy so you aren’t opening the bag often.
i want to start babysitting in my local area for the parents but i dont know where to start, im 16 and want to save up for a car, should i make flyers and put them in the mailboxes or something?
I would make fliers and adds on craigslist or facebook. Note that if you live in the US that it is illegal to place things in mailboxes as it is considered tampering with the US Postal System. (You can mail items out but walking up to someone's mailbox and placing it inside is a big no-no.)
Hi Grace! I am glad you have discovered you want to babysit. However, in certain states, it s not permissable to add flyers into people's mailboxes. Your guardian or parent is your number one resource then a course/class like "A Babysitter's Training Guide to Success".
@@yelljal2764 Yes, that is correct! In "A Babysitter's Training Guide To Success" course you can take for sitters between the age of 11 to 16 years old. Email me at thebabysitterguru@gmail.com
Great question! Accidents happen! If I am outside with the kids and I happen to take them to the bathroom to freshen up, change diaper, change clothes and there is an odor lingering... I use the spray. Hope that clarified any confusion 😊
i would always take a babysitting course so you know the basics. i took the red cross babysitting class at a local rec center. this class includes cpr and everything you would need to know. then you can make flyers including your experience, information about you, and how to contact you. and then you can put them in mailboxes of houses in your neighborhood that have kids. you can also post something on facebook or instagram. my mom posted my flyer on facebook and that’s how i got one of my clients. hope this helps!
Well congratulations on knowing you want to begin babysitting! I always recommend using your guardian or parent as your first resource to assist and a babysitting course. I have created "A Babysitter's Training Guide To Success" course that you may be interested in. Let me know :)

i’m going to be babysitting in around 45 minutes from 4pm till the bar closes (so 4-6hrs) and the ppl live literally around the corner so i can walk home in 2 mins if i need to but i’m excited bc i normally charge $20 each time i babysit (i don’t do per hr stuff) but they said they’ll pay more since it will be so late. but i’m actually scared bc if they ask for my number to check in or sum..they can’t bc my phone is broken so i’m bringing my ipad which i feel like is kinda unprofessional..ugh i’m jus rlly nervous
Hey Leilani! Always have an electronic on you that the parents can contact you on. That’s very important. It is up to you if you want to charge hourly or a day rate. I hope this helps!
I want to babysit and pet sit. I just turned 13 and won’t be able to get a real job until just before I go into year 10🥺😔 I’m really good with animals and little ones
Hi! You can do whatever you put your mind to! Market yourself around the neighborhood. Animals need fresh air and they can't remain indoors forever. Keep that in mind :)
Love this vid. So, next year I’m turning 11 and my mom thinks I am super mature and responsible. I know how to cook, and I will be able to take the Red Cross babysitting course next year! I will be babysitting a lot if we move to Japan bc my dad is in the navy and we might move to Yokosuka japan and lots of parents will be punt on the ships so I will be able to babysit a lot if we move to Japan. But anyways, I will you this advice and, yea!
Yokosuka is a great place!! My dads in the military too! Good luck with babysitting, and make sure to take a look at the age limits in Japan. In England, (I live in London now) you have to be 16!
Yay I am so excited for you! Prepping yourself is key and taking the course is perfect. I also think "A Babysitter's Training Guide to Success" course may just be right for you as well :)
I am 12 and I am trying to convince my mom to let me babysit I have slot of experience bc I have babysat my 4 year old sis and 9 month old sis. Hopefully I convince her but I also wanna get some classes but the Red Cross ones are a bit pricey

I don't really think that you are using men deodorant is weird at all because I have that exact bottle and I do too because every time I try to use the deodorant for girls it never works it's not that strong it barely has any effect so I've been doing a lot better with the men's deodorant and I think it's better to use than the girls deodorant
Yes, it does! The reason being is because all of the stuff I need for the kids activities are already with the home. At times, I will purchase baking items to change up e flow o FB things. Total optional! You’ll be surprised what ideas you come up with the materials the kids have right in their home. Hope this helps 😊
Hi Kiera! Thank you for commenting. However, if you read my previous responses to similar questions I address that. But, I'll provide you a snippet anyway. In most cases for me, the activities I have planned for the children require materials/supplies that are already within the home. There's many things you can do without spending your own money. Also, I was reviewing my personal babysitting bag NOT a diaper bag. As you can see in the video, I am not with a kid or babysitting that day. This video is to reference what EVERY babysitter should have in addition to children's necessities such as: bottles, toys etc. I hope that helps clarify any confusion!
@@TheBabysitterGuru sorry you had to write so much it just confused me to how you would be able to be focusing and playing with the kid while eating say snacks or chewing gum and what if the kids got into your bag and got into sanitizer or gum the could get sick. Thanks for the clarity 😊😊😊
@@kieraoconnor6461 I'll be happy to clarify! However, it is not logical for any babysitter to be eating snacks and chewing gum while the child has to be tended too. You can do that when the child is sleeping or no longer in your care. I do not show myself eating snacks and chewing gun NOR do I suggest you do it when you are with the child.
@@kieraoconnor6461 Yes, but when they are sleeping, no longer in your care or if you feel the need to snack on something while they are snacking then you have the right. Does that make sense to you now?
Ok Im ok with everything else but children under 5 LOVE eating small items including the lipbalm, no offense but make sure that it suits the kid ur watching

You have too! You never know when an emergency can arise ☝🏽
Do you have to take classes to be a baby sitter I'm turning 13 soon and might start this year while I'm 12 or when I'm 13 but I'm not sure if you need to take lessons and stuff
Hi! Thank you for commenting! It is recommended you receive a form of training prior to you babysitting.
I have to babysit 2 boys 4 and 7 on Saturday from 8 till like 1 or 2 somthing like that
How do you put little kids to sleep if they are scared of the dark and they don’t have a night light
Hi Kara! Thank you so much for commenting! First, this is a discussion the parents should have with you before Saturday ASAP. They are well aware that their kids have trouble sleeping in the dark and most likely have a tactic to put them to sleep. Make sure you either call or text them today ASAP. Hope this helps :)
Thank you so much for replying to my comment
This helps a lot thank you 😊

I'm about to become a baby sitter too! (After this corona stuff) this is super helpful! Question though, you know how you aren't supposed to leave the child alone, what if you need to use the bathroom?
Congratulations on becoming a babysitter 🥳! Good question... it all depends on the age. How old is the child you are caring for?
@@TheBabysitterGuru it depends like toddlers-7 year olds
For infants to toddlers there are play pins you can place the child in securely while you use the bathroom! For the older children like 5 years old and up, all you have to do is talk to them on their level, and explain you are going to the bathroom and will be right back. Show them exactly where you are going so they do not worry where you are. Leave the bathroom door a tad bit open. Also, utilize the bathroom located in the same space where the child is. Example- if you and the kids are playing in the living room, make sure to use the bathroom that’s located near the leave room not the one upstairs. Hope this helps!
Don't forget to watch people with special needs adults and care for them too!
And was it easy getting your first order?
Hey Amelia! Do you mean my first babysitting gig?
Going to babysitting class tomorrow!
Hey EMI! I hope your babysitting gig went well ☺️
Great video! Do you really need to have a certificate to be babysitter?
No, it is optional. However, if I were a parent I would prefer to hire a babysitter with a form of certification. Check out my BabySitting Course video.
The Babysitter Guru I'm not a parent, however, I wouldn't want to hire a babysitter without a bona fire certificate. Why? Because it would scare me to much.
What do you do if you have to go to the bathroom but can’t leave the kids alone
Hi there! It always depends on age. If the child is an infant and can be strapped into a booster seat, high chair etc. you can Place he child in front of the bathroom door open. What is the age of the kids you babysit for?
The Babysitter Guru usually 1-3
Hi Kaeli!
The Babysitter Guru yes very! Thank you so much!
Hi Kaeli! Hope all is well 😊 I am currently collecting testimonials from babysitters on why they like being a babysitter and would love to have you submit one as well. Will you be interested?
i am 12 years old and i am going to start babysitting, do you thing that i need a phone with a number, and why(i need to persuade my parents :)
Hi! Yes, you should have some form of an electronic device so that your parents and the parents of the children you are babysitting can reach you.
I'm 17 and really want to start babysitting to make some extra cash. I have experience with little siblings and this really helped!

hey I'm a male and I babysit do you have any tips for boys between the ages of 2 - 5
thanks - Ted
Hi Ted!

I have a question٫ I am a beginner at babysitting and my mom is finally letting me babysit but lotion and body spray and all of those other things like gum wouldn't it be unsafe if the kid ate the lotion or body spray or choked on the gum
sorry i am not the creator of this video but i think it depends how old and resposabol the child is! hope that was some what useful
Hey! Those are considered your personal items. The children I care for do not have access to that bag when within the home. It is placed in the closet. If you are outside with the kids, be sure to have the items for them to play with already handy so you aren’t opening the bag often.
Yes, 💯 correct!

i want to start babysitting in my local area for the parents but i dont know where to start, im 16 and want to save up for a car, should i make flyers and put them in the mailboxes or something?
Email me at thebabysitterguru@gmail.com
yea ok i get the rest but why BODY SPRAY????
Great question! Accidents happen! If I am outside with the kids and I happen to take them to the bathroom to freshen up, change diaper, change clothes and there is an odor lingering... I use the spray. Hope that clarified any confusion 😊
Hi! I’m just wondering, how do you start babysitting? I’m 12 years old and I would really wanna start soon :)
i would always take a babysitting course so you know the basics. i took the red cross babysitting class at a local rec center. this class includes cpr and everything you would need to know. then you can make flyers including your experience, information about you, and how to contact you. and then you can put them in mailboxes of houses in your neighborhood that have kids. you can also post something on facebook or instagram. my mom posted my flyer on facebook and that’s how i got one of my clients. hope this helps!

Hi Luna! Congratulations to you! I love multiples. Let me know if you have any questions :)

Um I don't think you should really focus on having gum and skin cream and concentrate more on toys extra bottles
@@TheBabysitterGuru but you show snacks and gum in your bag implying you would eat it at some point
Yes, of course! But as the babysitter, be sure your personal items are stowed away from the child. I hope that helps.
