Behringer are a bit like AMD - no one thought much of them for a long time. But in the last 2 - 3 years or so they have released some amazing, affordable products that are well made and offer amazing value. They have challenged and shaken up the whole industry. Well done!!

AMD have not the same sales philosopy. The root of the Behringer philosophy is to give customers cheap, but still good audio equipment. AMD is charging much if they could have. They are not just making cheap stuff. The are also in the enterprise marked.

I left my music dream behind and now I want my son to follow that dream. I left that dream to be a taxi driver and support my family in NYC where everything is expensive.
Studio hardwares are very expensive but Behringer help people with low income to bring that musician dream to life with affordable equipment. My son is 10 now and one day I will buy him a real synthesizer and that will be Behringer. For now he play with some softwares and I hope that one day he will be the musician that I never was. Happy that your company are helping kids, Congrats Behringer

I’m a high school science teacher in Clayton, OK. We are a small, rural school in one of the poorest counties in Oklahoma. I would love to see these kids learn, express themselves, and follow their passion of making music. I have demonstrated the neutron in labs. Many of the kids were amazed and fascinated. Unfortunately, most of them will never be able to own one. We would greatly appreciate and welcome any generosity Behringer offers. Thanks, Uli. Thanks Behringer team.

a really great place to consider donating those synths is the free music instrument library in Sacramento, Musiclandria. They help people learn and explore any instrument on their catalog by lending their instruments for free! They are very patient and cooperative in everyone's learning process, and even offer a space in their home to practice. Everyone here is extremely sweet and supportive to anyone who comes in. It is mostly volunteer-run. I've checked out a couple of instruments myself, and will always be forever grateful to them for my development in using the drum machine.

I’ve never been exorbitantly wealthy and was quite poorer growing up. Behringer, Squire, Alesis, and Korg opened up a lot of doors for me as a young musician. Behringer in particular. Now many years later, it’s come full circle. I’ve owned 3 of their synths so far and currently own the Odyssey and have the Crave on preorder. Happy and proud of what they’ve done and continue to do for musicians who aren’t swamped with cash. And the synths are damn good, too.

Wish i would have had the opportunity to play with synthesizers when i was little. Now, over 40 years later, there's nothing more frustrating than wanting something really bad, but not having the funds for it. The prices for all those lovable synthesizers has skyrocketed into the stratosphere. So thanks Behringer! Looking forward to future releases of those must have synths.

I recently went into a music store and said I was looking for a Behringer Model D. The owner told me he refused to stock Behringer products as they are rubbish. It seems that the brand is suffering from the past. In spite of the advice, I bought a Model D, a Neutron and an Ultragraph Pro and they are just brilliant. I hope that demand from the public will change the negative reputation that the name has.
Thank you so much, Uli. You suffered from your inability to buy the material you wanted and decided to build your own. Unlike many, who would have seen this as an opportunity to make lots of money by charging extortionate prices, you realised that there are many in the same situation and you decided to produce quality instruments at low cost so others can fulfil their dreams.
Happy 30th birthday and looking forward to the next 30 years.

    • @FatSynthDude

I think they're overcoming this reputation pretty well. I was one of the anti-Behringer diehards because of having so much gear of theirs that had failed. I was leery about giving them a shot again, but they've yet to let me down. Even Sweetwater started to carry their products, and they used to be vocal about not supporting Behringer. I've got three of their synths, two on preorder, various TC processors, and I get excited with every new Behringer announcement. (A four oscillator MiniMoog! How cool is that!?) Whenever there's gear I need, Behringer and their subsidiaries are who I think of now to see what they have and how it could fit my workflow. Behry has really turned themselves around in a big way!

I remember the time when B was considered less than relevant and of apparently poor quality. While that was partially true with some of their products, it wasn't enough to put me off. I still have some stuff from way back then, and it is still functioning. Much of my outboard fx is more modern B, and it's great. I like the brand.

Uli Behringer: The Patron Saint of synthesizers. Please do not falter on your excellence and quality that your initial salvo of synths have carried. Please do not stop adding additional features vs the original synths you cloned. Please do continue on with poly-d versions aka hyper drive versions of already released synths in your arsenal. Please keep being excellent. Thanks for bringing the unreachable to the masses of us synth nerds.

Uli mentioned about giving children the chance, or should I say access to more affordable instrument. When I was a kid, it was tough to access some products as you also stated. I often dreamed of owning big synths and other equipment.
Sadly, I have seen a similar scenario reflected in my grandchildren. They don't seem to be teaching music lessons in England, or if they do, its an after school activity, and only then for those who are able to afford the costs. One of my eldest grand kids loves music, and that I am able to let them play on such items.
It is thanks to you (Behringer), that I am able to offer them the opportunity to try things out for themselves.
If you want to give kids the access to play your equipment, it might be worth approaching the education systems of any given country. I would love to see a generation of new musicians generating new material, new ideas and so on.
    Happy anniversary.

What a lovely thing to do! I'd like to nominate The Library of MusicLandria in Sacramento, California, USA to receive a synth. MusicLandria is a non-profit musical instrument lending library that puts instruments in the hands of kids, families, and artists in need. They let folks borrow instruments for free, and bring musical instrument petting zoos to schools and community events. Many folks have played their first synthesizer at MusicLandria. It would be a great way to bring Behringer synths to the community.

That was a great speech, Uli. You are a true visionair. The Steve Jobs of musical instruments, selling products without the Apple price tag (more like Casio) and since a couple of years also the quality of high end cult products we desperately wanted for 3 decades. 30 Years ago is exactly the period in time when I got interested in synthesizers, but realizad I couldn't afford that dream. I wouldn't tell you are sixty. I'd give you twenty years younger. It must be the positive vibe that's hanging around at your company. Congrats and success to you all.

There are companies which deliver their loopingmachines with a USB 1.0 Interface (yes, still in 2019) or their keyboards with a crappy little LCD monochrome Display. This kind of avarice is what customers take notice of. Behringer doesn't do so. What I receive from Behriger is always more than fully featured. If I should point out the best purchase of my live, it would surely be my XR-18 mixer. I've never bought anything before with a better bang for the buck. No car, no banana, no instrument, no kitchen device, no bottle of beer, simply nothing. Congratulations, Uli

Hi Uli, what very nice birthday present! 1000 Synths for kids who cannot afford. Wow!
May I suggest the FathersCentre Jongbloedplein (Bilal) in The Hague (Den Haag) as one of the lucky ones? They help poor families to get back on track. Totally operated by vollunteers. Would be great!

I am a music teacher at Patrick Henry High School in North Minneapolis- we have lots of creative students who are ready to create their own music, but just don't have access to the resources to do it. Donating some synths to any school or school district would be an amazing way to get kids excited about synthesis. At my school, the students are very interested in hip hop and making beats, but few have explored sound design from scratch. I'd love to have a cool synth to teach them with!

Happy Birthday! Loved Behringer for fundamentals like DI boxes. Needed those to play live but $100+ a pop for name brand ones meant you wouldn’t eat for a week. But $30 or so for a Behringer and it worked just as well. Now along with Korg & Arturia they’re making analog synths for everyone, not just snooty elitist “collectors” who usually don’t even make music. ❤️ Uli’s story about getting kicked out of a music store. That hit home, the same thing happened to me!

@@Raminmarciano I picked them up in a secondhand thrift shop, 10 USD a pop, so I'm not sure what there story or pedigree is, but they sure make a difference on the sound, I just found out, I use them as "past amps" at the moment, and they simply warms the signal up, before hitting the loudspeakers, I just checked my Pre Amp, the one I use "correct" and it's an "ART" (Applied Research And Technology), maybe that got a better rap but anyway I'm super happy for Behringer, and if I hadn't bought my Grandmother, I Would have a long good look at the new Poly 4,- have a perfect day or night or whatever time you're embedded in, - 😉👍🏻

Nice one Uli and all at Behringer. I have a few bits of kit of yours, great additions to the studio. I was remarking the other day 'why does Behringer produce clones such as a moog clone etc, when Behringer are more than capable of producing kit that stands alone and can compete with the likes of moog?' Having seen this, I now understand your ethos. And yeah, fantastic insight and uptake on those that cannot afford. I too hail from one of the poorest of communities in North Manchester. We never had monies for music lessons or instruments and in such an area, it was soldiering or labor work. After service and disability striking, i decided to try my hand at music production, having never been accomplished in any one instrument but, having a knowingness of music that sits dormant in all of us. I found then, a school that introduced me to VST and DAW's and together, with a meagre pension I learned midi implementation and began to build up a studio with a small budget. I am cracking on now, I don't want to be a pop star but would have loved to have earned a butty out of music but, it's the creativity that counts for me. It helps me lose PTSD from service career and some trax, are quite passable. The main thing is, Manchester School of Electronic Music, and the likes of yourself, have similar ethos and dedication to helping those who are inspired by music, to get the creativity out of them and to be heard by many where, money, and class, and status has never enabled those from the poorest of communities to express their true potential. Your kudos, ethos and awareness are very much what's needed more in the World. These days, money, is killing everything of value, but still, there is the odd Oasis that stands alone from global corporate gluttony; Oasis, such as Behringer. Nice one. Happy Birthday!

Thank you Behringer for making gear affordable, especially recording gear, microphones, mixers. I couldn't afforded my 16-microphone orchestral recording setup with products from other companies, as I'm still a student and it matters a lot whether something I want to do costs 1000€ or 4000€.

Places like the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and other places could really use those synthesizers because of the amount stuff that was lost. These synthesizers would bring smiles to many that seem like their futures have been lost.

    Uli is 60? Wow!
A truly inspiring individual and what a fantastic company he created.
I'm imaging what it would have been like to have had the opportunity to play with a synthesizer whilst I was at primary school. It would have been amazing and I'm sure it would have opened up my mind to many new possibilities much sooner.
The schools my children go to, do have a 'safe' interest in music, and what I mean by that is they spend a small amount of time teaching some children traditional instruments, ie violin, cornet, tenor horn etc. These lessons are usually carried out by volunteer or part-time staff supplied by the local authorities and children can often find them unengaging. Imagine how incredible it would be if it was possible for children as young as 7 or 8 to experience electronic music creation and synthesis?! Experimenting creating brand new sounds and music is a gateway to creativity, opening up ones mind to possibilities beyond the norm!
If Behringer could get even just a single synthesizer into just one primary school, and just one child becomes engaged, just think how much more enriched their love of music could become. Music matters, it makes people feel right.

Congrats!!!!, 30 years of hard work that are rewarderd. My first electric guitar was a Behringer guitar that came in a beginers pack with a GM108 Amplifier, I have them yet and still using it since 10 years ago. Also I have many guitar pedals and I use it with electro-acoustic guitar and they work really awesome, just yesterday I bought another 2 pedals, the Compressor / Limiter CL9 and Ultra Chorus UC200 and with them I have now 9 Behringer pedals, including the legendaries Reverb Machine and Echo Machine that are very apreciated now. Now, I see Behringer products anywhere, since beginers musician to professional producer. You has given to the people the oportunity of get good gear with a good prices, and that is very very wonderfull, I wish you the best for the next years, you are amazing people and a amazing company. I recommend the El Paso County Juvenile Probation Department- El Paso, Texas USA. I've counseled incarcerated youth using music, and with my own equipment. There just isn't enough support for youths in the system. Music saved me- grew up poor and with limited support. Music can guide them toward change as well. Congrats on the 30 years of making a difference!
