I think that the fact that part 1 has 6.8 million views and part 2 har 800k is an accurate representation of how many people give up on trying to learn this song
I actually learned the first part all the way through (im not good tho) so now I'm trying to learn the second part

What happens between the first and 2nd video? The 1st video ends with the harmony thing and the 2nd video starts with another part, isnt there a part between those?

Ksson I just watched the begining of the last video over and over to see the notes he played and the picking pattern was easy to watch
Yeah it seems he sadly forgot the part inbetween. Luckily you can still find a tutorial by Marty on his old youtube channel and it goes over that part.

I got my first guitar when I was 18, I learnt the basic chords and how to play simple songs, but gave up soon after. With a lack of immediate learning material available, i got stuck. This was back in 2005.
I picked guitar back up again, 15 years later in the middle of the pandemic, and I have learnt more in 2 weeks (including how to play Part 1 of this song) all thanks to you Marty. The content you give out for free is unreal, and you've made it possible for people like myself to learn incredibly hard songs, so simply. Thank you.

Honestly, I accidentally clicked on this video cos I thought that Metallica was too much for me and I heard how amazing this song sounds and instantly got addicted to Metallica. Thank you ever so much for doing this lesson which was v heard for me at the time to learn but I stuck to it and did it.

Whatsup Marty! Thanks a ton for all of your videos, but especially this one. I was reading the tabs for it and was finding it a bit confusing which is where your video shines! Picked back up guitar during COVID after a long break and this was the first finger picking song that I've been practicing. Can nearly get through all of pt1 through pt2 and it's been about 3 days practicing. Looking forward to eventually getting through part 3 :)

i think a U2 song is essentially at odds with acoustic playing just cuz a large part is that you want to sing it when you play it, but with Bono.....XD Great song tho!

I have used Marty's lessons on this song and at least 19 others. There are few guitarists who play as well as Marty and fewer still who have the gift of teaching. Any time I decide I want to learn a new song, I look to see if Marty has done a lesson on it
