1980 news report shows Hampton's historic carousel at Buckroe Beach Amusement Park

From the 13News Now archive, this report from the May 17, 1980 episode of "Focus" was put together by then 13News anchor Jane Gardner and photographer Doug Sesny. The segment, titled "Carousel of Memories", featured Hampton's antique carousel in its original location at Buckroe Beach Amusement Park.
The historic merry-go-round was installed at the park in the summer of 1920 when it was a thriving vacation resort and remained there for 67 years until the park closed. The carousel was placed in storage until 1991 when it was reassembled in an enclosed pavilion in Downtown Hampton. A year later, it was added to the national register of historic places.
In 2023, Hampton City Council began considering options to move the carousel again to protect it from flooding in its location downtown along the Hampton River waterfront.

I worked the kiddie games in 80/81 I was really hoping to see me in the background. Wish we'd had cel phone cameras back then. No, really I don't I guess, I have the memories (but a pic would be nice)
