For the most part, the JFK limousine you saw in the museum was only technically the same car he died in. Following the assassination, the car was sent back to the custom car builders Hess & Eisenhardt in Cincinnati and was rebuilt from the frame up--armored with titanium and bulletproof glass, an all new interior, and other upgrades. Also, the midnight blue paint color JFK liked was redone in black to suit President Johnson's taste. The project was titled "Quick Fix" and took until the Spring of 1964 to be delivered back to the White House.
Yes, and by George Westinghouse, as well-Tesla was a genius, but got taken advantage of by his peers-we still use his electric system today-not a fan of Edison either-but he did give us some awesome technology.
Tesla invented cell phones and wireless electric too - mysteriously all his papers went missing after his death. JP Morgan bankrolled Edison. When he showed his wireless inventions, the story goes he was asked how can we bill the customers and he replied "I don't know" so wires and meters were on -- Edison's work/Niagra Falls/ConEd.
I was fortunate enough to see President Kennedy in June of 1963 in San Diego, CA just a few months before his assassination In Dallas. He was in a motorcade going from the airport to San Diego State College to deliver a commencement address. He drove right past me and he was in the big Lincoln limousine in which he was killed. I was standing on the curb with others and his car drove right past me. I recall his being tanned and that his hair had more red in it than I had imagined. It was just a brief moment in my life but I have never forgotten it. The limousine in the Henry Ford Museum has been modified a number of times after the assassination including adding armor and the hardtop. It continued in use during the LBJ presidency before finally being removed from service.

Glad other people, younger than I, are now talking about Tesla, and how he has been just Totally Wronged by History... Jordan, what an amazing vlog of the history of road travel and lodging in the US! My husband is an electrician turned engineer, and he often speaks of how Tesla was ripped off by Edison.
Another good one, Jordan. You have more info than any museum docent. You make it enjoyable for me because you are interested in what you post. You don't drone-on like real life tour guides ("If you'll look to your left everybody, you'll see some elk. Just a reminder to keep your hands and arms inside the tram at all times"). Your work keeps evolving.
What a fantastic museum. We will be out that way in December and I know how we are going to spend one of our days! Did not know that was there, thanks for the introduction Jordan!
You have made my day! Being a museum lover, I have thoroughly enjoyed it all. That place is for sure on my list if I ever make it to Michigan. There were so many cool things there to see. Very exciting!
Been looking forward to watching this one all week. Fabulous filming & narration. Looks like you guys had a fun trip. My last visit was 2001. Doesn't look like it's changed too much since then. I need to get back there soon.
Great video. On the Reagan limo, the dent you point out appears to be on the driver's side but when I watch video of the shooting it looks like Reagan was entering on the passenger's side of the car.
I live a few minutes from Tesla's Wardencliffe "Tower". Many years Tesla's genius went unrecognized it is great to see so many people agree with Jordan. Great Vlog! Come to Wardencliffe!!!
This is such a fascinating vlog! Loved the cars. Seeing JFK’s limo from that day still makes me sad. I was in 7th grade when our teacher came into the classroom after lunch and told us what had happened. She was crying. We were sent home from school and watched it continuing to unfold on TV. Such a sad and tragic time for our country. Thanks for today’s tour, Jordan!
Same memory, except I was in 5th grade and my teacher's name was Miss Kennedy. Our principle came in and whispered something to her. She got very upset and went out and got a radio. That is how we found out.
You are correct that OJ Simpson had a white Bronco but That SUV that you refer to that would look like OJ Simpson's Bronco if it was white is not a Ford Bronco, it actually is a Ford Explorer made from 1991 to 1994. Ford Broncos only have two doors and are a lot bigger than the Ford Explorer
I have never seen a carriage passenger train either . That was a lot of amazing history to see . I have always loved old cars and trains. My husband and I would love to have one of those old gas pumps , but they are so expensive . Thanks for sharing another great vlog Jordan.
Oh the Ford Taurus... if you look at other mid 80s cars the Taurus was very modern looking. My mom wanted one so bad ...and they've had 3 ..they are on their 2014 one now! Great memories! ! Thanks Jordan! !
Dude just want to personally thank you for the way you make your videos , it’s as if we are there , you have the perfect inquisitive fascination to keep your viewers happy 👍
Thanks, Jordan, I enjoyed that very much. Very good video. The Kennedy Car made me tear up a little. I was only 5 on that day but I remember it well. I was with my Mom at the store and they announced it over the PA system. It went very quiet in the store that day. Broke my heart.
OMG! Greenfield Village!! So many wonderful memories of being there. When I lived in MI growing up we went there at least once a year for the weekend with the Girl Scouts. Wonderful to see it again. Awesome vlog!!
Very cool! Such beautiful examples of car design. The old Texaco brought back memories, when the service man would gas the car, wash the windshield and check your oil. Made me think of going with my dad to gas up.
Late to the game here but very nice video Jordan. I was born in Detroit and have visited the museum on several occasions... a long time ago. Great place, as you know! Thank you. jc
That was not an O J Simpson Bronco. That blue SUV was a 1991 Ford Explorer. That vehicle represents when SUVs started to become the vehicle of choice for families following Minivans and Station Wagons. OJ had a full sized white 1992 Ford Bronco.
Jorden, I THINK this is one of your best videos to date! ... I can tell how excited you are about this place and how happy you seem to be able to film it for us, when you get excited, it shines through and makes us excited too! ... I only wish the video was longer! ... So much cool history of our past all in one place, i've actully owned a few of the same model cars you show i this video.... THANK YOU once again for bringing the world and such cool stuff into our homes, many of us cant get to these places, you do it justice my friend............. signed youtubes "Gasserglass" here on the Mason Dixon line.
The JFK limo was on loan to Great Britain for Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee when we were there. You are reminding me of all the wonderful things we saw there, it may be about time to go back. If you ever want to visit the sunny side of Michigan you and Jah have an open invite to Holland.
Thank you so much for vlogging this I was so excited to see the Kennedy car. But all the Presidential cars were impressive. Loved all the cars so cool to see !! You've saved me another trip, it was just like being there.
I never knew that JFK's limo still existed. Thought the government might have sent it to a crusher. Must of been very moving to be in the presence of that piece of history.
Wow, so much I could tell you about this place! I live 3 miles away lol. My aunt worked in the garage at Ford & was there when they brought JFK's car in after the investigation was completed. My dad was friends with the guy that designed the Turbine car. I actually have a model of the car that they gave out at the Auto Show charity preview that my dad gave me. Mustang I, my uncle designed the suspension system. He was the engineer that developed the computer engineering software on Ford's IBM FORTRAN system. Before that they were still designing everything by hand. You didn't talk about it but you briefly showed it, the white convertible 65 Mustang #1, wasn't suppose to be sold. It was just a demo car that was sent to a dealership in Canada. Somehow, a very charismatic pilot talked the Salesman into selling him the demo car days before the Mustang officially went one sale. Ford was not happy about this. It took them a year to convince this man to give up his beloved convertible. They offered him the 1 millionth Mustang in 1966 & told him he could have any feature he wanted on it. He sent back the sheet with a big ol' X on the paper indicating he wanted it all expect the 289 V8. He drove the car to Dearborn for the exchange & the white convertible has been at the museum since. Edison, Ford, & Firestone called themselves "The Vagabonds". They would go camping together. William Clay Ford Sr, who passed away in 2014, was married to Martha Firestone. She is 93 years old. Their son Bill Jr is who is in charge of Ford Motor Co now. The Magic Skyway Ride, Ford declined having it moved to Disneyland. The only thing that remains are the dinosaurs that are suppose to be seen along the railroad at the park. Here is the link explaining the ride. www.thehenryford.org/explore/blog/ford-meets-disney-at-the-magic-skyway
I believe that President Johnson kept the JFK limo and had it completely redone. If you'll notice, the front grill with the red lights is completely different than in the original 1963 photo.
Hi Jordan, hope you have had an amazing week so far, I have really enjoyed your vlogs this week, especially this vlog, jfk car, wow, I didn't think they would of had that on display, never really gave it that much thought.. Love the fact you can show us all this, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for sharing the museum! It's been a long time since I have been there, in many ways is the same and yet they have added so much. I will have to go again. Glad you are having family time! You are so close (I live in Indiana) and yet so far - lol. Again, thanks for sharing!! Love your vlogs :-)!
As to the JFK car: It was extensively redesigned by LBJ shortly after the shooting. When JFK was shot in it, that car had what they called a clear bubble top that they could put on it during inclement weather. According to J. Edgar Hoover, that bubble top would not have saved him because it wasn't worth a penny and it wasn't bulletproof either. The roof that you now see what added later by LBJ. It was bulletproof and it made the limo far more secure. So the limo as it sits in the museum is a far cry from the limo that JFK was riding in, even though it is the same car!
The car was evidence which went against the single shooter theory as the windshield had a gun shot from the front along with other evidence so it went immediately for a rebuilt the original windshield was scrapped part of the big coverup
When showing the JFK assassination limo, I'm surprised that you didn't mention Texas Governor John Connally, who was seated in the jump seat in front of the President. Connally actually took the bullet in the back that had gone first through Kennedy's neck, entered into Connally, exited his chest, fractured his wrist, and stopped in his thigh. What a historical vehicle!
Sensory overload! Wow! I’ve always wanted to see the Henry Ford Museum but never expected it was this great. One can never see too many cars and modes of transportation! I had to do a double take when you showed the 56 Chevy. Never expected to see anything but Fords. You’ve done it again Jordan. Now time to view this again. Thanks!
Fascinating!! I really wonder how Edison's son managed to get his last breath. Think about for a minute or two. That would be tricky-- for sure. Thanks for the tour.
A fun and interesting vlog. I think I stayed in one of those Holiday Inn rooms. LOL. It's a beautiful museum. Lots of beautiful cars. I'm a Tesla person too. I think he deserves more credit than what he gets. Thank you for bringing us to this wonderful museum. I look forward to tomorrows vlog.
Love this vlog, never been to the museum. The museum should thank you for inspiring so many people to visit. Great job of narrating what you see in front of you. Thanks..
Oh, how I have always wanted a Mold-a-rama, just hinting. Loved the video. Love those old cars. My husband loved cadillacs, the oldest we ever had was a 44', the newest was a 68'; ah those were the days, but that was back in the day.
Really enjoyed this Vlog, I love old cars, they're much more stylish and curvy. like the Duesenberg, absolutely stunning, and the Airstream, so cute. What a wonderful museum. Thank you for sharing your visit.
Hey Jordan thanks for showing the JFK lemo it brought back memories when I was in 5th grade when the announcement came President John F Kennedy has been assassinated in Dallas Texas we we were All in shock a day our class never forget he was a very loved President
A great vlog!! I love cars and this was very interesting and informative. Enjoyed this from beginning to end . Looking forward to Jordan's next vlog 😎🚘🚗
I am a little surprised that they didn't come up with a shooter game with dealey plaza. You could start with easy level being shooting from the knoll, the most difficult shooting from the book suppository
Always great seeing The Henry Ford Museum. I'm assuming there is a part two? There is one item that you didn't show in this vlog that is too important to leave out. (If you know what I mean!) I've been to the museum a few times in my life and it is always exciting to see it. Thanks Jordan!
Amazing vlog!! I definately want to check this out someday. All those historic vehicles were incredible; JFK's vehicle gave me chills too. I also agree about Tesla.
I grew up around the ft worth/Dallas area. I have been to the 6th floor museum in Dallas where Oswald shot JFK from and look at the actual window. Your mom would probably enjoy that tour. You can walk around the grounds and around the grassy knoll. There's lots of rich history in TX! Enjoy all your vlogs! Thanks!
After the assassination Kennedy's limousine was flown to Detroit (to the Ford plant) to be rebuilt. Remember, that vehicle was that murder's CRIMESCENE. The only original part on the vehicle at Greenfield Village is the frame! There is so much that is hidden about JFK's assassination, even today.
The entire interior of Kennedy car was stripped and replaced, Before it could be processed for evidence. Edison also invented a machine to communicate with the dead. Edison was an sob and a possible murderer. It was just the way it was back then. You can get an Edison bulb at most upscale hardware or lighting stores. Great vlog. 👍
The video was Awesome! Especially love the antique cars. Before my husband died we had a 1950 Buick dynaflow. After he died I sold it. Keep up the good work!!
As always thank you for an awesome vlog! I remember so vividly remember when JFK was assassinated!! I think I grew up a little and realized that bad things happen!! I cherish life and enjoy my family!! Thanks for sharing your adventures! You have brighten my life!! Have a fantastic week!!
Jordan , this is one of my favorite vlogs. I enjoy them all, but this one has a little of everything in it. I have read so much about the Kennedy Assassination, and that was great to get to see the car from that awful event. Loved all the exhibits and explanations. I have been wanting to go to the Ford Museum one day. My wife and I have been planning to go to the Ford/Edison Winter Estates in South Florida. They were next door neighbors there. Thanks for the adventure.
I love the Henry Ford museum. Always something great going on.... Christmas is amazing. I started going there when I was about 10. Been too long since I've been there. Well worth the trip.
I saw pictures of the car and this isn’t the same. The back seat was a solid bench seat without the little pull down arm rest and the red flashing lights in the front were not built in. Maybe this is just a ‘replica’? The pictures I looked up show right after he was shot and the blood stained seat right after his body was removed.
Sounds like tampering with evidence to me
i was wondering why it had a roof
License plate was different to the ones in the photos too
Tesla got screwed by Edison. Your vlogs just keep getting better, sensational seeing the JFK limo. thanks Jordan.
Thank you

samething happened to his body
Not really a man was killed in that car

Ya Ruth did play at that stadium. They brought the fences in but he played on that field…
& Lbj didn't want to touch it when it returned as the x-100 part 2
Totally agree about Edison vs Tesla. Tesla was definitely screwed over by Edison!
I'm a Tesla fan too, and feel the same as you about Edison.

I remember those shag rugs. When I worked at Howard Johnson in the 80s. After vacuuming, we had a plastic rake that we used to fluff up the carpet.

I had to do a double take when you showed the 56 Chevy. Never expected to see anything but Fords. You’ve done it again Jordan. Now time to view this again. Thanks!
I love cars, you can never show me too many, they are history that need preserving, thanks Jordan great as usual
Fascinating!! I really wonder how Edison's son managed to get his last breath. Think about for a minute or two. That would be tricky-- for sure. Thanks for the tour.
After yesterday"s vlog I was hoping you would go to the Henry Ford! I was there a number of times, it is one of the best! Great job!!
I had no idea that these cars are in this museum. I have already learned something new today. Thank you for.shsring.
Really enjoyed this Vlog, I love old cars, they're much more stylish and curvy. like the Duesenberg, absolutely stunning, and the Airstream, so cute. What a wonderful museum. Thank you for sharing your visit.
Thanks
Jordan....we visited there in July. Awesome museum.!!
Hey Jordan thanks for showing the JFK lemo it brought back memories when I was in 5th grade when the announcement came President John F Kennedy has been assassinated in Dallas Texas we we were All in shock a day our class never forget he was a very loved President
The chair that Lincoln was sitting in when he was assasinated is in that museum somewhere.
I know
Thanks for the good work!! You always do good stuff!! Entertaining!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Tesla got cheated not only by Edison but by J.P. Morgan. Thanks for sharing.
Mary Jane Blahnik TESLA IS A SERBIAN HERO!!!!!!!
I got cheated by my wives.
Yep Edison was not a nice person just like his buddy Henry Ford
Thats what they say
Greg Chervenak EDISON THE TRAITOR! !!!
Love going to museums! The only way I'm better there.. via Jordan! Thanks so much. This was great❤
Thank you Jordan for showing part of Greenfield Village, I haven't been there since a kid.
So cool to watch this! I learned a lot. Did you know that Groucho promoted the Desoto on his show?
The entire interior of Kennedy car was stripped and replaced, Before it could be processed for evidence. Edison also invented a machine to communicate with the dead. Edison was an sob and a possible murderer. It was just the way it was back then. You can get an Edison bulb at most upscale hardware or lighting stores. Great vlog. 👍
I have a Barbie car that’s exactly like that’56 Chevy. Color and all. I almost got rid of it until I found out how rare and valuable it is.
The video was Awesome! Especially love the antique cars. Before my husband died we had a 1950 Buick dynaflow. After he died I sold it. Keep up the good work!!
I enjoyed this so much!!.. What beautiful cars, and seeing all the history of the cars, amazing!!.. Thank You so much , Jordan!!!!
Yep, I live southeast Detroit burbs . Best museum ever
Thanks for this vlog, Jordan. I am OBSESSED with the JFK assassination for some reason.
As always thank you for an awesome vlog! I remember so vividly remember when JFK was assassinated!! I think I grew up a little and realized that bad things happen!! I cherish life and enjoy my family!! Thanks for sharing your adventures! You have brighten my life!! Have a fantastic week!!
I was still in my Pampers!!
I love the the Henry Ford Museum. It's one of y favorite spots to enjoy with my family. Hope you are enjoying the great state of Michigan.
Nice camera work. Slow and easy panning so we can get a good look.
