Hello, I never bought anything on amazon before. I have a question that If I buy the camera + 16-50 lens for $746, the batteries and charge will need bought alone ? OR the set of $746 already included those? Thank you!
I love how you did a brief summary of the video before going into full detail. The summary alone answered all of my questions and the rest of the video gave me more incite on the camera. I loved this review. Great job!
+Marshall Pangkey yes of course, it was shot with the a6000 and when I had to record the camera itself to show you what it looks like was the Sony NEX 5r
I was so confused about which Sony camera to purchase and then landed on this video!!! Super awesome video with specifics. You made it super easy for camera dummies like myself as to every use of this camera. Just wanted to know which lense I should purchase with it. I don't think you made mention of it in the video, but I could be wrong. Thanks again!!!! You're awesome.
i didn't realize i was watching it in 480p... turned on 1080p and oh my holy effin sh**!! this camera just won my heart. lol great review, i'ma buy this camera soon before i leave for my next trip. C:
With this camera Sony totally caught everyone off guard!! Then when they all thought they could beat the A6000 the A7s was another camera that blew the rest out of the water!! Definitely a camera for the history books!! WOW!!
I used the same lens it came with right out of the box. I didn't edit or enhance the video. It's how it records! That's why I left canon for Sony cams. Canon is still a Camera to consider, I just love the compact and performance of these little cams. Crazy good.
Glad to have you! I'll probably step it up by the end of this year with thier a7S. It's just $2k worth that I do not have. I have a lot a lot to save but hopefully credit card can help if I end up pulling the trigger
Thank you for the useful review! I got my own a6000 after watching this review and made a video about me playing instruments. I'm very satisfied with what I could get out of this gear.
From 2007: “The EU trade experts decided last Friday that to be classified as a digital camera, equipment must not be able to record at least 30 minutes of a single sequence of video in a quality of 800 x 600 pixels or higher at 23 frames per second or higher.” uk.reuters.com/article/tech-eu-cameras-trade-dc-idUKL1777271820070717 So manufacturers programed their DSLR cameras to stop making video at 29’59”. Cannot make up this stuff. Well, Eurocrats can.
This is probably one of the better a6000 reviews I've seen. Nobody really talked about the cellphone to camera functionality, that was cool as shit I didn't know I could tap my phone on the camera and have it open play memories, I had always been opening up the app manually through the phone. Even if you can't take video remotely it still is good as a viewfinder.
I initially felt that the lack of an external mic input would be a deal breaker, but I think everything else is so good that I'm willing to find a workaround to get better sound quality when needed. I want this camera!
@@Specket You can by using the hot shoe and Sony proprietary lav mic. However, you can't use any after market set up for audio. Personally, being that it's now 2023 and Sony has multiple updated options in their 6000 series cameras (and all of them now have external mic inputs and 4K) I wouldn't consider an a6000 unless it was super cheap and I had no need to record videos.
If you're going to take selfies, use a phone. Don't be wasting the quality of the A6000 on your beauty shots. A phone is perfectly good enough for that.
I love photography, and I've purchased the Sony HX400 (that super, 50x zoom point and shoot) on which I've been improving my skills on. Hopefully one day, I'll gather enough money for myself to purchase the a6000. It's a wonderful camera.
+Lincoln Ho | YEGventures.ca Ahh yes, you're right. I'm literally like an average consumer. I know about the tidbits of specs but I just like talking how I normally would with others. Thanks for the feedback. Did you end up picking one up by the way?
Now this is a well developed video, starts with a good amount of sample footage and talks about specs and personal opinion but not to much opinion. Really great and informative thanks.
But wait.. Is there another camera that could top this deal?? The a7 possibly? Was watching the end of your review and was wondering what you would suggest. I've been scouting out for a new upgrade for a loong time to replace my Nikon D60 (lol old as shit).. Was looking at DSLRs until I started looking at these compact types.. Let me know man! This camera just seems unbeatable for the price + all of the tech inside.
Matthew Fabian I loved this a6000. If you don't care about not having a touchscreen you'll be perfectly fine. I'm not saying it's the best camera ever. But I will say in my opinion it is an awesome compact featured cam. It's getting cheaper priced but not cheap on quality and performance! I say go play with it at your local store. If you buy it, and somehow don't like it, you should have a certain time period to return it!
GX7 has better, more varied lens selection. If you have the cash, the Panasonic 42.5mm F1.2 is a world class prime lens. The 25mm F1.4 is a great all round lens, also very fast. Sony has no answers for any of these lenses. Sony lenses are very good, but not special. Start with the lenses you'd like to use, then buy the camera that goes with the lens. GX7 also has a touch screen which is very useful.
I'm already looking at trying out the Panasonic G7, the new one that just came out like 3 months ago. I love these sony cams over canon, but i haven't tried Panasonic yet and I want to expand my knowledge with more and more camera quality and experience to get a better recommendation. But I'm definitely going to work on getting a G7
Really well done. I love your narration over the video instead of live audio. Very well done. So the spider scene, which lens are you using? The 18-55? Thanks. Looks good. I'm getting pretty sold on it. And what about the audio recording of the A6000? Is there a minijack input? Thanks.
I had the predecessor to the a6000, the NEX-6. What I liked about the camera: quick, easy handling, compact size and light weight. Lots of AF focus points. What I didn't like: slooow buffer even when taking single shots, poor low-light AF capability, excessive noise in images at ISO's above 1600, nearly useless built-in flash. Funky SD card loading arrangement that caused me to destroy one of my SD cards beyond repair. I wonder how much of an improvement the a6000 is over the NEX-6? The two cameras look so similar.
on the website the app says that got a recording function, is that something new with this app? here is what it say's "Your mobile device, such as a smartphone, can be used as a remote commander for the camera. Operations such as releasing the shutter, starting/stopping the recording, and zooming are available"
I am a skier and am thinking about buying the a6000. I would use it for shooting fast passed shots as well as far away shot. Should I go with the a6000 or Nex?
Hey was wondering if you know of any viewfinders compatible with the a6000. I want to attach the camera to a shoulder rig and think an extended viewfinder would make this better to use.
I have a Sony a6000. I'm wondering if there is a way to program one of the buttons to start-stop video recording. The ridiculously difficult to push video button is much to subtle for normal video recording. I have to lower the camera, locate the button and press it in a very deliberate manner. Not conducive at all to casual use of the video capabilities. Programming the shutter button or the button in the center of the dial wheel would make good sense.
Excellent, detailed review ! Many mentioned the Electronic viewfinder, but no showed it, except you. Yes, that was like Inception, but later I got it (if I can understand that movie then I can understand this too). It is great of you, that you tested its Wi-Fi range. This is called a complete review. You have all expensive gadgets. This video was possible only due to them, you made good use of those
Wow, many thanks for the positive motivating words. And these are reasons why I make videos on RUclips to help everyone out with their next gadget choice!
I just purchased this camera , so far this camera reviews and videos on youtube lets me know i made a great choice getting this baby , oh yeah and great video by the way :)
What was the focal length and aperture value when you took videos in the backyard with A6000 and Nex 5R? I am asking because the background is blurred beautifully and I didn't expect this from this from kit lens. I I thought you would need an F1.8 lens for this
+Jibon Ikram you mean the Panasonic right? I own the G7 and it's awesome! not nearly fast to the a6000 but the G7 has mic input, and has a full pullout and rotating screen while being touchscreen. It's a toughy, quality on both are amazing, just comes down to what size and function you want.
+CooLoserTech I actually meant the the successor to canon g7x. 1 inch sensors do produce pretty good images, but sony alpha a6000 produces better images and is more versitable. That's why I'm debating whether to buy canon g7x/its successor or sony a6000.
I bought this camera in Europe to travel around and my god it's such a fantastic blessing. It's small and not bulky/heavy. It's fast from on to snap and best of all it looks fantastic! Still worth the price to this day. THe new a6300 gives you obviously a upgrade but dont think the extra $600 is worth the upgrade.
Yes sir. When I bought it I didn't realize how good the camera was until I got in to different lenses and learn to use the settings of it. Yeah it's not a Canon 5d Mark 3 but that's ok it's not trying to be. For the size, and price with a good lens it's easily beats out 80% of the DSLR game out there which cost more. I've seen many professionals on here jump ship to Sony a6000 and new a7sii because of this camera!
Hi i have Sony alpha 350 and 700, i want to now if the lens of the 350 and 700 will fit the Sony A6000 with or with out an adapter. If i need a adapter wich one do i need. thx
I have a Nikon p7700 right now and tried upgrading to a Nikon DSLR but it was to big and bulky and didn't have the low light AF that the P7700 has so I resold it. I'm seriously considering this. Would love to see inside video in lower light(easy to get good video outside in full sun) and different lighting, one drawback to the P7700 is WB in video when not full sun, though fiddling the default to cooler helped some. Almost never use the screen flipped for selfies but that would still be missed some, though seems you could use the phone for selfies instead, would just be a bit slower setting it up. So yeah in short if you have inside video from the a6000 that'd be great?
Hello there, I'm an Nex 5r user as well and planning to get another camera and watching your review has already made me want to buy a6000. Thanks for the review. I am more into videography actually and I think this a6000 works good in low light as well. Regard, Hariz Malaysia.
The video came out really colorful, sharp and clear, did you use any "post production" prior to uploading it up to You Tube? If so, what did you use, editing software programs etc, and how did you do it? Thanks!
So I'm not quite sure if I'd like to get a Nikon DSLR like the 3200 or 5200 or would this be a good substitute for them. It looks great. Plus Sony has very good new lenses.
Hey a couple of questions how is the low light indoor for example filming for RUclips and the second one can u use your cellphone to view the video you are recording...?
Hey man great review...funny stuff at the end there. The video looks amazing! Did you use the kit lens or a different lens when you shot the video? And since you shot in raw what program did you use to process the files? Thx
Great review! I just ordered a kit of my own and I can't wait to play around with it. Do you know what other non Sony lenses are compatible with the a6? I can't seem to find much on Amazon aside from other more expensive kits that include an extra lens like a 55-210mm lens. Any help would be much appreciated.
This camera is kicking ass! I have been using it for a couple of months now. Easy to pick up and learn. Fast, accurate and affordable. Sony Alpha a6000 "Little Monster". It's so good, I have yet to even use the video for a single frame. I'm too busy with all these new still shots.

+CooLoserTech I love it! I can't even begin to express how great this camera is. I use it more than my Canon 5Dmk2 and frankly, I almost prefer it over the canon. The simplicity mixed with pro features make this camera the true champion that it is!
Do you know if we can control the camera via smartphone for VIDEOS too? I mean, can we start/stop and VIDEOS (not only photos) from a smartphone? and eventually transfer them from the camera to the smartphone? Thanks

have u tested record video more than 30 minutes? is there any overheating issue after 30 min?
Most DSLRS and mirrorless cameras have a set limit of 30 minutes of recording. It's like a universal law within cameras; IDK, but it is.

Hello there,
I'm an Nex 5r user as well and planning to get another camera and watching your review has already made me want to buy a6000. Thanks for the review. I am more into videography actually and I think this a6000 works good in low light as well.

Thanks for the review! I just got this camera and I love it! So lightweight...it's the perfect camera for travel!
You're very welcome!
The video came out really colorful, sharp and clear, did you use any "post production" prior to uploading it up to You Tube? If so, what did you use, editing software programs etc, and how did you do it? Thanks!
Okay, this made me want this camera even more

Good luck with the lenses.
i am thinking about the A7 or A6000 strictly for shooting high quality video. Which would you recommend?
+1 for credit cards!
I use the Sony WX80 and like it for its autofocus which I think is fast and great, your new camera here looks BEAST. Cool video.
Thanks for your review! The more I read and watch about the a6000 the more I think it's a good one for me! Danke!
Wow this is the best review yet.
I am proud user of 80D , I respect what Sony did and this mirror less looks slick but still I am so so happy with my 80D and I am mastering it
Would this work for concert photography? How is it for fast moving objects?
you won me over Ive been debating on leaving the canon Ti series alone, and after this awesome review I dont even feel too bad about it.
1:30 are there any corrections or did you do some special settings? Looks great!
I did not do any corrections. That's how good it records. Just use the 1080p 60fps on AVCHD and you'll get this quality!
Thanks!
wait how can i set it to 1080p 60fps exactly? the menu confuses me a bit :(
Hey man great review...funny stuff at the end there. The video looks amazing!
Did you use the kit lens or a different lens when you shot the video? And since you shot in raw what program did you use to process the files? Thx
It's the kit lens it came with. Nothing enhanced or special editing
Hi can you guide me please wich setting you used for this perfect video result. İ own an a6000 but my video results are not good
Your review is amazing!💕
Great video man! Your video sold this camera. I'm going out tomorrow morning and buying this :)
So how is the camera treating you after a couple months now?
+CooLoserTech I love it! I can't even begin to express how great this camera is. I use it more than my Canon 5Dmk2 and frankly, I almost prefer it over the canon. The simplicity mixed with pro features make this camera the true champion that it is!
Hi! Can you tell me the settings you used for this? What file format did you choose? Thanks! Awesome video~
love the review CooLoserTech! straight to the point
I'm glad you think so! Thanks
Hello. What video settings did you use, and what did you conversion settings for RUclips?
I want to start making action movies, would this be the camera for me? and can you control the focus?
what app are you using at the 5:50 mark? nice video!
if you just want to take picture is the a6000 the right choice?
Do you know if we can control the camera via smartphone for VIDEOS too? I mean, can we start/stop and VIDEOS (not only photos) from a smartphone? and eventually transfer them from the camera to the smartphone?
Thanks
Hi, Nice video and very informative. Which app do you use for transferring and using as remote for the camera? Thank you in advance.
hey man cool but waht about the overheating problems does it happen when recording 1080 vieo resolution
Just sold me on this camera! Thanks for the great review mate!
Great! Did you get it? How do you live it after a month or 2?
Hello, please what function did you use for the auto zoom. I just bought mine but I can’t seem to make it work this way. Thank you!
What are the exact video shooting settings that you use when you shoot 1080p?
Can you still connect your phone to the A6000, seems not possible anymore exept for a firmware hack that makes the camara think its an A6100?
what lenses are you using when record with sony a6000 sample footage ? thanks.
Does the a6000 have an audio jack to monitor audio as you record?
