    Guys 80 million isn;t the street price of the truck, thats the proto type cost including development, research etc. factored in.

    Well we can see that they nailed the steering wheel not being TDC when going straight perfectly. Some things will never change.

    One way they could increase the aerodynamics more is bu putting a gold ball finish on it. That would trap pockets of air and let the surrounding air flow more smoothly. Certainly wouldn't look as sleek though

    80 million is the research and developement cost. Quit being ignorant people, the truck doesnt cost 80 mil......
    But seriously, can you imagine the maintenence cost on that spaceshipt? Who would want it?

  • @TheUpwardbound1
    @TheUpwardbound1 7 лет назад

    that couldnt have been 80million dollars if it could fly and float on water i would say maybe. it cant drive itself, It does not have a heads up window display, nothing spectacular about the interior. I'm sure that was a mistake as I actual commercial 737 airliner brand new is less than 80million

  • @mertvak
    @mertvak 7 лет назад

    80 mil? what?

  • @tarabottogino
    @tarabottogino 6 лет назад

    Excuse me but did you said $80 million US Dollars?? I`m sure it`s $8 million, nothing can justify $80 million because most of the components on this truck (not all) but most are over the counter items, several hundred to be exact, and the worst thing a company like Freightliner can do in terms of marketing, is follow other manufacture marketing technique , this truck is already build (more than one I`m sure) is a success in terms of style, economy, comfort, safety and more important it is street legal, but have you notice that every time a company like this build an awesome vehicle, as soon it is presented to the public they said "but this truck will NOT be build, it is just a concept BUT some of the components will be use in future trucks" this marketing strategy is been around for way, way too I think it is time for companies like Freightliner to change this marketing nonsense and offer this new vehicle to the public as it is, let me ask you this... what exactly is wrong with this truck? because the only thing that can be considerate as illegal is the camera rear view replacing the conventional rear view mirrors even that was replace with conventional mirror with a tiny cameras on each corner and with two displays on the right and one on the left inside the cabin so in other words the truck now is completely 100% street legal the technology exist, is here, it will help the environment and save fuel, so cut the BS and build the truck as it is. Todays truck drivers expect comfort, economy and of course make money and as far I`m concern this is a money maker machine, good for the world so is a win-win situation.

    You know automated transmissions whatever, I understand they're efficient, I still like my Eaton 13 stick but you know not everyone's the same. But for the love of fuck this plastic alien looking truck is just why.. if you need that many cameras to drive a truck there's something wrong. yes blind spot and reversing but its either you're a trucker or not, people are just getting lazier.

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 7 лет назад +1

      They are trying to get rid of the mirrors completely. The air drag on large conventional mirrors is at least half a mpg and cannot be improved. If they remove the mirrors they increase mpg.

    • @neil78b
      @neil78b 8 лет назад +1

      Rick w
      Yes really, its not a preference its called fear of change. Not a single company has gone back and forth over transmissions... Volvo, Mack and even Mercedes for example come standard as automatics for about 5 years now... on what inaccurate data do you base your absurd conclusion?

    • @neil78b
      @neil78b 8 лет назад +1

      Rick w
      Judging solely by your poor grammar, I certainly understand your ignorance on the matter. Frieghtliner, Volvo, etc have done much field data and research, its down right incomparable to the fuel economy and longevity that an automatic can achieve.
      They only drivers found to have issues with auto's were those who couldn't learn how... you have to be quite stupid if you can't drive an automatic. The savings and predictability are unmatched, besides it will soon become mostly an autonomous industry in the near future. Either deal with or get out the way, relic.
      I also don't know everything, so stop with the silly accusations and assumptions, its shallow and pedantic.

    • @neil78b
      @neil78b 8 лет назад +1

      Rick w Calm down, you will live longer. I see your lack of grammar beyond the level of an 4th grader is still shinning. Come back when you can speak to adults, LMAO. Now go cry my a river with your sad attempt of insults that you seem to only know.

      When you want to test new features, or concept ideas. You build 1 prototype with everything, you then test it in the real world. They even made a point they had to add side mirrors, do to current road laws to make it legal. As it was built, with cameras intend for side viewing.

      Automatics have been around for a very long time in trucks... its the norm now, 10 years from now, it will be difficult to find a manual simply because automatics are far more efficient. Also, this is a prototype...
