I always loved Britta’s speech about women being one with life juxtapositioned to Annie and Shirley taking out the entire Blacksmith family. 😂😂

The final scene was supposed to be of Abed showing Pierce a changed version of the game, where Pierce's father only says positive things about him. Then Pierce would give Abed a hug and complete an arc of coming to terms with Abed.
Unfortunately, the scene was never filmed because of Chevy Chase walked out during shooting.
Also, the game Hawkthorne was based off of was Terraria.
Yeah, it was supposed to be a game of "catch" where Pierce threw a baseball at the giant Cornelius head, and it would say "good job son!"
That would have been a great ending. I don't understand why Chevy Chase refused to do it.
oh wow I just said it always reminded me of Terraria. I always played it after seeing it. That scene would have been really nice to have seen. alas.
@James R Except Pierce did learn a few things in the show, while Chevy quite clearly hasn't. He's always been a dick, brilliant and charismatic, but a dick nonetheless (which is partly why his movie career tanked in the 90s : he made too many enemies in the business).
Erik Lerström Community was the only good thing going for him career-wise and he Britta’d it.

It's really interesting to see you realize in real-time that the episode would take place in the video game and be animated. Back when the episodes first came out, NBC & the show would put out press to hype the special episodes (paintball, KFC spaceship, stop-motion Christmas, etc.) in advance, so we never had that element of surprise.
It's kind of weird how you guys are now putting out both Community and Parks & Rec reactions on Thursdays. Because both of these shows used to air on the same night on NBC...which was on Thursday.
Those were the days. I literally watched NBC every Thursday. Community, Parks and Rec, The Office... etc.
@@archstanton664 Yeah...and 30 Rock. That was crazy that there was a night where all four of those shows were on. I don't know if NBC will ever pull that off again.
@@WaveGazer The Good Place and Superstore are great shows. Especially Good Place, but that Thursday slot of Office,Parks and Rec and Community was great
2009-13 on NBC was stellar programming. Community at 8/7, Parks and Rec at 8:30/7:30, The Office at 9/8, and 30 Rock at 9:30/8:30.

Loved this episode when it aired. Completely unexpected and brilliant all around.

Pearce was like many racists, spouting the propaganda of their fathers before them. After 3 years of exposure to Shirley and Troy and Abed he drops many of those walls. He still relies on ignorance to protect himself, willful ignorance is very real. Oddly, in this show they use Pearce as a great example of exposure to combat intolerance. Check out Enemy Mine for one of the best Sci-Fi examples of this technic.

Luc Collin The Usual Suspects still holds up, doesn't it ? Great writing, directing, editing, mudic, and acting. How has it deteriorsted ? Xmen and Superman aged poorly because they were bad to begin with. Apt Pupil probably still holds up even though they dramatically changed the ending from the original book.

NGE would make them a lot more depressed than even Bojack Horseman, because unlike the latter, there are no jokes. The last two episodes would also be very awkward and boring to sit through in a group reaction... because there isn't much to react to. You need to soak in the information quietly, and preferably alone.

There's a short little documentary with the artists and the guy who started to create the game from this episode. I got to go to the art show and it was seriously one of the best days of my life. never understood why this episode was so highly rated, it's a cool concept sure, but it wasn't that entertaining
This was around the time the show really jumped the shark to me. The episode took a 3-minute joke and stretched it into a badly voice-acted episode and watching it is like pulling teeth.
Yes, that episode is brilliant... but overall, season 3 is much, much weaker than season 2.
Season 3 is peak Community. Season 2 has more filler such as eastern european diplomacy, competitive wine tasting, celebrity pharmacology etc.
