I saw it that way for a while, but then I began seeing hiccup in with villains. Drago because of the missing arm and taking control of the dragons. We'll Hiccup is missing a leg, and while Stoick showed no signs of ever controlling the dragons, hiccup tames them but could have done it for the wrong reasons like Drago
And I see Grimmel a parralel with Stoick if Stoick continued killing dragons since Grimmel has a similar view on dragons as past Stoick

The scene where the light fury locks her tootsies with Toothless and falls into the darkness is inspired by the courtship flight of bald eagles, called death spiral. The birds fly high up, lock their talons, and then do a spinning free fall towards the ground. If it fails and the birds can't control their fall and separate their talons, they might hit the ground and die, but if it's a success they've found a partner for life :)

you're shifting opinions on Grimmel's Dragons, the Deathgrippers, well reflects their unique situation; yes, freeing them from Grimmel's control is a movement I fully support, but there is a reason Grimmel chose Deathgrippers specifically as his beasts of burden/hunting dogs in his Night Fury extermination campaign, calling them "Dragon killers" was more true than it would first appear. You see, the vast majority of Dragon species have a diet that primarily consist of fish, with some having a sweet tooth for terrestrial prey (like Deadly Nadders with chicken), or even a bit of vegetation at times, but Deathgrippers are unique in that they are specifically evolved to hunt other Dragons as their main source of food, making them apex predators in a sense; if most Dragons are the equivalent of African megafauna, like elephants and rhinos, then Deathgrippers are the lions/hyenas, so while Grimmel does use their own diluted venom to keep them compliant, their natural instincts and behaviours are perfect for his mission, their pincer-front-limbs, retractable tusks, acid that simultaneously sets things on fire while melting them, retractable stingers that carry very potent venom, high flying speed mixed with their high intelligence and ability to work as a group all combine to create the perfect Dragon to take down prey even as elusive and cunning as Night Furies

since Luna {fanon name} is not the last Light Fury, but Toothless IS the last night fury, in the mating scene, he is 1) trying to woo a different, albeit similar, species with no knowledge of his own kind's mating rituals, let alone hers; and 2) she (though she doesn't necessarily know this) has more than him as an option/isn't the sole dragon around to carry on their species.

Cool thing I noticed when watching this, when the light fury pulls toothless down to the hidden world it looks like they lock claws together like eagles do as a sort of trust fall when they are in love. Idk if they meant to do that but I thought it was neat! 16:51 if where it's shown

I’m so glad I’ve had the honor of watching you react to this fantastic trilogy. These movies made my childhood, and it means so much to me that you feel such strong emotion towards them as well 🫶
I will say that Toothless himself is the last *Night Fury*. LF, however, is not the last of her kind (you can spot multiple Light Furies in the hidden world). The Light Furies are a subspecies of the Night Fury, having adapted to living almost entirely in the hw. Sorry if it’s confusing!!

8:10 fact: that’s exactly what toothless and the light fury are based on, the head and the ear things. What else they’re based on is big cats, toothless is based on a black panther while the light fury is based on a snow leopard.

i definitely have been waiting for this one. this isn’t just my favorite trilogy, but my favorite franchise. it’s just too good 😭
these movies were made to make you cry. and just imagine being there for every release of each movie, it hits WAY harder in the end. i’ve been a massive fan of this franchise since i was 4, a couple years before the second movie came out. that was one of the first movies i remember seeing in theaters, and just one of my favorite memories. such an amazing trilogy, i can’t. i cry every time i watch the last one, i can’t even listen to the end credits song anymore 🥲

There was actually a special that took place after the first movie in which Hiccup did give Toothless a tail that let him fly alone! Toothless didn’t want it then and threw it away lol

Amazing reaction Niall❤ I've been desperately waiting for this. What a trilogy eh? I don't trust people who dont cry at the end😂 There's a gorgeous little short film called "How to Train Your Dragon:Homecoming" that fits in just before the epilogue of this film and explains why Hiccup and Astrid and the kids go out to look for Toothless. I highly recommend it. It's beautiful ❤️

ok full updated timeline of the HTTYD franchise.
First film, Hiccup and the gang are 15-16 years old (Hiccup being 15 specifically)
Gift of The Night Fury, a holiday special taking place after the first film
Riders of Berk series on Cartoon Network, takes place after the first film
I'm not quite sure when Dawn of the Dragon racers takes place but it's after the first spinoff series and before the second film
Race To The Edge takes place 3 years after the first film, making Hiccup and the gang 18-19 (Hiccup being 18 specifically)
Second film, five years after the first film, the gang are 19-20 (Hiccup specifically being called out as being 20)
Third film, one year after second film, Hiccup is 21
Homecoming, a holiday special 10 years after the third film. Hiccup and Astrid are in their 30s and have two children. Their oldest is their daughter Zephyr and their youngest is their son Nuffink
then theres another series taking place in the present day (like 21st century present day) but I havent watched it so idk much about it

10:20 Hiccup's full name is actually Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third!(from the books but its just as ridiculous) and the ending is the same from the books, narrated by hiccup hoping one day the dragons will come back. Also really hope u can check out an old short films they made "Gift of a Night Fury" and "Homecoming".
