  • in which i attempt to say something profound about backphrasing
and try to sing a popular song "EXACTLY" as "TRANSCRIBED"
in case you don't get this from this video, i am head over heels in love with ellen greene's iconic performance as audrey in little shop of horrors. it is so nuanced and so perfect and so delicious, and i hope that she understands that this is a LOVING HOMAGE to the magical detail of her idiosyncracies.
please don't compare us directly 🥺
i don't own any of the music here, except the background music, which i produced. and the "backphrasing" jingle. obviously, i'm great at writing jingles. hire me kthx. (i also produced the track for "somewhere that's green," the orchestration for which i designed around the piano vocal score.)

You get a virtual high 5 for that! I didn't know it was possible for a male to pull that song off. Bravo.
I am no vocalist by any means, but I think I cracked the code on the "feels like something is missing" effect from every rendition. However, not being a singer I haven't been able to test my theory but am sharing since you are obviously an E.G. fan as well.
On the clean "S"'s if you make your tongue feel like it is too big for your mouth, and move the lispy "S"s back further to the middle of your tongue instead of the tip, Almost like she is firmly pushing the tip of her tongue against her bottom teeth the entire time she is in the nasal "cutesy" voice. If this analysis is correct please let me know.
Once again, good job. The other banter in the video was entertaining as well, thumbs up.
