This worked great! However, I do have another suggestion that also covers the D ring. Buy a small Lizard Skins chain stay protector designed for mountain bikes. It Velcros around the D ring and the rope, and keeps those muffin tops nice and comfy! One Lizard Skins cut in half worked for me...they cost about $10, and you don’t have to disassemble anything.
