    Nice! Glad to see that there's an enjoyable gravel route in Big Bear, my previous 3 attempts to create a route there have all been riddled with a few lesser traveled fire roads that were out of the comfort zone of a gravel bike. You're lucky you stayed on the segment of Holcomb Valley that your route traversed, if you went any further east or west you'd hit some very chunky stuff that isn't fun. And this is coming from the guy who created the Cleghorn/Pilot Rock route and thought that was enjoyable. But yeah, the Skyline road and the stuff around the ski resorts is some of the most enjoyable gravel biking you'll find in SoCal.

      I think in our post ride discussion, he preferred Refugio more for the scenery of the coast. I prefer this because the road conditions were better and who doesn't love riding in all those trees?

      I'm still tubed because I change tires so much. Did it specifically for this ride, but in the end, I would have been fine on 37s.

    What tire width would you suggest for this ride? You think you can do some of the trails in Calabasas area, Ridge road trail, or the ET trail?

      We were mostly on 40s (Bill on 35s). That's more than enough width.

    Where did you find the info about being allowed to ride the PCT? I was told you can't ride any sections? Would love to know what we sections we can. Thanks

      This small section didn't have no bikes sign entering and exiting, and was going by local knowledge. The hikers were courteous as we went by.

      Ok great I have a route planned and 4 miles of it has the PCT. My wife is an avid PCT hiker and told me she would be me up if I try it. Haha.

      @@dougsilcock9730 I did see no biking signs on the opposite sides of the road for other sections, so it was a bit more reassuring I didn't see them at both ends of this section.
