My physics teacher is extremely intelligent and good at her job, but it makes such a difference when someone is enthusiastic about what they teach. I'm not only learning from these videos but enjoying it as well. Thank you!
Differential equation for the motion of a pendulum. F = ma = -kx, sub in x = l theta and write acceleration as the second derivative of displacement. The change in displacement over time is velocity, v = dx/dt, and the change in velocity over time is acceleration, a = dv/dt = d ( dx/dt ) / dx => d^2x/dt^2. m d^2 (l theta)/dt^2 = - k (l theta) k = mg/l sub that in m d^2 (l theta)/dt^2 = - mg/l (l theta) so now we can cancel the m's and the l's d^2(theta)/dt^2 = -g/l (theta) This is what I was looking for, hopefully this helps other,
g/l is omega, the angular frequency, denoted by a character that looks like w. Omega is equal to 2pi/T, when you rearrange for T, it comes out as it is in the video.
I would suggest for the author to add the option to embed videos. As it is now, if you would like to discuss these videos in a G+ hangout, it is not possible!
Because you have to define some axis before you can tell if the vector is positive or negative. And since axis aren't really necessary to describe the problem, he just talks about the vector module.
youre going well, untill you simply say "oh so the period is 2pi Sqrt(l/g).. youre explaining it good.. but then you state something like that and i still dont know how you got there.. like the squareroot etc.
As an exercise, you may want to check some experimental data from a pendulum experiment presented in the following video: ruclips.net/video/vf9muwAILEM/видео.html For example, you can estimate the gravitational acceleration from the data taken.

i don't understand anything and not even trying to learn physics but you're extremely fun to watch
Why are you yelling at me? I just wanted to learn about pendulum.
mescetacy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Considering how ridiculously convoluted physics can look, yelling is often needed to get the point across.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm done with humans
lol
Is it just me or is he not blinking?
He isn't .___.
Adem Penver Truuu
12 years later, still helping people! Thank you!
Question. Can you use this formula to prove that the moon landing was real or would you use a different equation?
... Seriously? You have to use the Pythagorean theorem *obviously*.
By far my favorite Brightstorm dude. By far.
I've watched a few pendulum videos. I like this the best so far.
Differential equation for the motion of a pendulum.
F = ma = -kx, sub in x = l theta and write acceleration as the second derivative of displacement. The change in displacement over time is velocity, v = dx/dt, and the change in velocity over time is acceleration, a = dv/dt = d ( dx/dt ) / dx => d^2x/dt^2.
m d^2 (l theta)/dt^2 = - k (l theta)
k = mg/l sub that in
m d^2 (l theta)/dt^2 = - mg/l (l theta)
so now we can cancel the m's and the l's
d^2(theta)/dt^2 = -g/l (theta)
This is what I was looking for, hopefully this helps other,
Holy shit, finally someone who explained it well. Thanks man
You're an amazing and extremely engaging teacher, thanks! :)
I love you
❤
Absolutely fantastic teacher!
Great verbal explanation/perspective of the mathematical concepts he's teaching!!
Thanks for great video!
THANK YOU. YOU ARE THE BEST.
Best physics teacher

Thank you for the simple but very thorough explanation!
He has a lot of energy, and I like it
You made this so much easier to understand than my Physics for Dummies book. My brain is doing a happy dance!
is he high or overly enthusiastic??
I think both
Nice enthusiasm
just wondering, for the part where you put T=2pi square root ( l/g), are you sure it's not g/l?
allllllRIIIIIIIGHT
Thank you for your energy! Really got me focused. We need more physics teachers like this
This guy is the human manifestation of the Fundamental Theorem of Engineering and I love it!
Physics test tomorrow. Come to this guy :3
you look so funny when you count the seconds
I DIED BAHA
Just want to say you are great teacher. I love your energy sir.
omgoodness you made my day. i wish more teachers were like you. actually, i wish more people in general were like you :P
Very very good_ from India
Like from Haryana
Why is it the perpendicular part of the weight that creates acceleration?
I would suggest for the author to add the option to embed videos. As it is now, if you would like to discuss these videos in a G+ hangout, it is not possible!
Good explanation.
what is the velocity component at the mid way?
Nice explanation!
I really wish my physics teacher was a pendulum so her period would only last four seconds instead of four days.
Wow, you didn't understand anything.
If i use a heavy string, in my case a steel beam,,does it affect the calculation?
What do you mean exactly?
Very nice, I was hoping you would have also showed the equation of motion
I like this guy! no homo!... I like the way he don't care, he explains much simpler and he is honest..keep up the good work!
thank very much
Voiced over by Paul from Big Brother
when he says x=lθ, what is x? please help!!!!
It is The length of the bow that is made by theta angle
finally understand where small angle approximation comes from!
Look up taylor polynomials for more info.
force = -mgsin(angle) . why u r taking positive ??

Nice to see at least one want help from school and combinations for the first time
Dammm this guy is good. Found my favorite professor.
Thanks
I started playing with the lamps, holding a stopwatch along with a ruler and a calculator after watching this :DD
Sir you teach amazing
I think you missed A LOT when going from k = mg/l to the next equation
Nice vid. Take it easy on the 8kg ball
I love the crackhead energy from this guy
youre going well, untill you simply say "oh so the period is 2pi Sqrt(l/g).. youre explaining it good.. but then you state something like that and i still dont know how you got there.. like the squareroot etc.
getting saved by a video that is 11 years old
I miss this channel so much...
thanks a lot.
THANK YOU !!!
hahahaha!!! The Restaurant thing was funny!! good job mate
very nice I have studied this very well
4/4? I can do that! lol, very shady approximations going on here.
please make your own channel i enjoy ur style of teaching it speed up my brain hahah
such fun.. lets do it exactly..
I love this video, thank you!
Great
ur so cool to watch dude
This data.. and that data.. Im going to bed. Good night fellas..
Doc Emmet Brown....
great work!
hes a shoutty man and its scary
Physics test tomorrow. Wish me good luck please :D
I love this guy xD
my eyes oj
JUST SAW MYSELF IN HIM 😩😩
good work

Alright.
i got scared 0:02 ....the enthusiasm tho....lmao
cocaine is one helluva drug
Classic
thanx sir:)
I read the comments first, Now I cant take him seriously
why the fuck is he reading off a sine on the x-axis?
.... BUT THAT'S HOOKE'S LAW!!!!! :OOOOOOO
I've just found my new Bff.
This is so funny to watch in 1.5 speed
Had to watch it in 0.75 but still helped
you dont exactly look like a physician, but I would give anything if you gave class to me hahahaha
He has a normal look for a physician actually.
Yes I think we actually meant to say that.
dd u ever be a dancer ,just try u can
Showed this to my cousin that is 13 and understood how it works.
isn't everyone watching this video like 13 anyway
isabelle galdau 25 year old physics teacher. Thank you for making me feel dumb.
Essa Dababneh really thought sarcasm in my comment could be detected, i meant it as a joke!
greattt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you r awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ty!
WHY ARE WE SCREAMING
Tired of what
It's better u dance first and then explain
?????????????????????????????
wow, simple pendulum made easier
The energy of the instructor distracts the audience from the topic. Hope he takes more feedback.
Why so angry????? Its not my fault i don't know it
Very funny!
Lol that's was so easy 👊
كفو
I can't stand your presentation style, but thanks for posting.
