Oddly, not my favorite Built to Spill song, but by far my favorite Built to Spill song when played live. The energy is amazing when this song breaks into the verse.
Back in 2014, I listened to this almost everyday.....and then couldn't find it somehow until today!.....it's my favorite live version cuz he drops his pick and still plays and sings
Mrius86 I'm drinking a cheap bota box of red wine. I just finished another 14 hr shift--can't seem to find the will to go to sleep. Time is too precious to waste when there are gems such as this. Tomorrow is going to suck! But tonight feels quite alright...!
They played this one last night at a show I attended with my lady. One thing is clear. Their albums are great as a collection of songs but this is a live band. They should release a live album yearly.
Such a wonderful groove going on in this song. A marathon of drum part👍👍 Edit: Seven years later and I still come back often. My favorite performance of "Goin' Against Your Mind." And I still love Doug's strap recovery and band's continuance of the son. All impressive feats 🍻
Loses his pick and whatever else happens there. And still rocks it. Last live show I saw before COVID was BTS doing Keep It Like a Secret. Sublime...And Hindsight has given me, too many memories... This just rocks so hard
Did his strap give? That happens at the first show I ever played lol. I have it on video somewhere, hooked a chair with my foot and just dragged the mic down to me lol. Lucky there was a stool nearby
Was actually wondering if he might've gotten busted in the nose, cus it'll do that and that shit happens on tour. I can't count the times I've been hit with something in a rush to get moving, especially indie tours where your moving and driving yourselves everywhere.
You should check out the halo benders Doug's other early 90s act (well beside the late 80s early 90s treepeople (another Seattle band, often called grunge but somewhere in-between that and a mic of hardcore and post Hardcore punk so kinda like some meat puppets actually, you might dig em if your big on that). Halo benders is with Calvin Johnson from beat happening, that's an interesting act, simultaneous lead vox from both, idk if you know Calvin Johnson but you seem knowledgeable so probably, has a wild sound best song is probably Virginia reel around the fountain (guessing a play on the smiths song haha)
props to the drummer for not losing his mind
one of the greatest songs ever created hands down
I agree mate.
Yes. An astonishing song. Not just one of my favorites, but one of the best songs ever.
Going against your mind Going against your mind Going against your mind Going against your mind
I snuck away in highschool to go see these guys (2004) I drove 8 hours to Ft. Collins, CO. Never got caught!
I'm telling
You were no trumptard
Your parents didn't care enough about you lmao
@@rigorob4711 Nah it was just the good ol' days.

I have listened to the studio version, but this is by far my favoritr live version.
the fact that he loses his guitar just makes this even more awesome and inspireing
I love that Doug has been using that same axe as long as I can remember.
He stopped using for some reason, he's using a black strat now
@@fuzzgun99 Saw them last night and the red strat is back!
@@fuzzgun99maybe a Luther had it lol. They have people to do that stuff generally but I'm honestly shocked I've never seen him with another.

The Spotify gods sent me this song. I'm here because of other people's great taste in music. Cheers, everyone, I'm drinking Vienna Lager.

Am i the only person who thinks you in reverse is wildly underrated?
I just discovered this band and I wish I knew them earlier because it’s so damn good. Feeling that 90s early 2000 vibe
This is my favorite version of Goin' Against Your Mind. Freaking awesome!
Doug is awesome
Love that bass-line in the middle when the drummer has a break....Love BTS....
Even better the guitar part right at the end...God Bless
2:04 every time this happens I get filled with rage.
At your guitar tech I hope😂
I get enraged by the ad in the middle of the fucking song.
the long ass song and doug losing his strap makes me love bts even more lol
Vince D I was just thinking the same thing... 2 years later as a matter of fact!

I hate when there’s a hiccup live and the cameras scramble to cover it up. Like nah son we like that
Love that this sing explores the abyss of what UFOs could be✨✨👽

Goin against this fuckin' blowing guitars: 3:55 - 7:02. In a few minutes, i'm dying and resurrecting

True musicians don´t need a roadie!

I believe it's his son

zu einem blöderen Zeitpunkt hätte ihm die Saite wohl kaum abreissen können :-( Trotzdem ein ganz starker Song
That drummer needs to get some sleep
Hahaha. That part is a marathon 🍻

I know one guitar tech who lost his job after this show😂
Reminiscent of the Meat Puppets
Which era lol
