  • Its something I have always wanted to do - to find this perfect stretch of remote coastline where there are no houses, no buildings, no people - and just hang out for a few days!
    Well, that is exactly what I found on the West Coast and its an experience that I will never forget and I find myself longing to go back for more, to stay longer...Waterval is a truly special location!
    When I started planning this trip and I was pouring over a map of South Africa, I saw Hondeklipbaai and just knew its a place the dogs and I had to visit and so we did...Hondeklipbaai would also mark the furthest point on our adventure before starting our journey back home to Port Elizabeth.
    But our routing home will see me visiting places we have all heard of but probably never been to, like Springbok and Pofadder, places I get to see on this episode as I head for the Augrabies and the Orange River.
    Wild Camping at Waterval on the Wild Wild West Coast
    In the dog box at Hondeklipbaai
    I get my Springbok colours
    Potting around Pofadder
    Beautiful Blouputs
    We cover some serious kilometers in this episode as we discover the spectacular Northern Cape.
    Enjoy,
    Marius and the Pack

      Me too! Was totally blown away by the raw beauty - look, it’s been totally abused with the mining etc & because of its isolation it’s difficult to patrol BUT still wow wow wow

    • @MariusRobertsProductions
      @MariusRobertsProductions  Год назад

      Hey Peter
      Thank you so much for such a cool message! I cant believe its been TWO years since we did the first trip and I wont lie, I am so frustrated that a second trip hasn't happened as yet! Never thought I'd have to mission like this to get partners onboard to support it...
      I haven't given up though and things are looking positive for a trip end of January - if it doesn't pan out, I'll do we own thing with my own vehicle etc. and go from there. The thing is it ultimately takes like 6 months of my time - a month of planning, a month on the road but then its the edit that takes the longest time so its tough to dedicate that amount of time without at least covering my costs. The first season was done for the love and passion for my concept, confident that we'd have the financial support going forward but that didn't work out.
      But it really was a life changing experience and something I am passionate to keep doing - there are so many amazing stories to tell!

      We were totally in the dark with which way to go! Wasn’t sure if we could continue all the way through - wasn’t sure with mining operations etc. so this was the route our Garmin showed us...pretty sure the first part of it wasn’t for public 🙈

    With this trip in the Blue Isuzu, have you used the 4x4 function at all and where?

    • @MariusRobertsProductions
      @MariusRobertsProductions  3 дня назад

      We didn’t really encounter terrain that required hardcore 4x4 and low range BUT whenever we were on dirt roads, sand tracks etc we were in 4H - it just adds an additional level of safety and control on the gravel

    Marius, will i be able to drive on that roads with my combi? Tx

    • @MariusRobertsProductions
      @MariusRobertsProductions  6 месяцев назад

      AWD? I would say so but you would need to drop tyre pressure - up on the top road its easy enough - don’t even need much ground clearance - its just if you drive down to the actual camp site we were at, the sand will be a problem without AWD.
