You can tell a ton of passion was put into this. The spritework does live up to the expectation of paying homage to classic Metal Slug, which is no easy feat, as this series possesses some of the most impressive pixel artwork ever made. Also, I didn't expect so much Kanada school animation here. It fits Metal Slug just perfectly.

When I was a kid, I went to many children parties in a certain place that had a Metal Slug 1 Arcade machine and I would spend almost the entire parties playing It! Seeing the characters of such a nostalgic game in such a cool animation is a Dream come true to me!
Probably heard tell of Eri's sick cover-switching grenade toss move, and tried it herself, resulting in flying off the unseen edge of a roof, crashing thru seven awnings on the way down, flapping her arms in a panic before landing in a basket of vegetables or something, but still managing to hit the target and send the Morden guys flying. A Metal Slug... tactics game? As a huge Metal Slug fan, I have to say, this is an outrage... ously brilliant idea. Seriously, from what little this shows, it looks great so far. This makes me super happy, and even this little trailer alone makes me want to get the game.
Other companies have developed Metal Slug games without really undestand what makes special the game: the power sensation. This is achieved by combining smooth and fluid animation, stunning effects and excelent music, and not only using _Metal Slug_ in title or just including the original characters. I'm glad you understood this, i can't wait to give it a try.

As a old head, if you want a cross shooter THIS is the game. I know people like to give Contra it's due but IMO Metal Slug to the raigns on its' release. Hard, but not to hard, CRAZY ass boss fights, and awesome weapons.

The 3 Fatal Fury animated films were legitimately good, shame we never got more anime based on SNK games like Metal Slug, Magician Lord or Samurai Shodown.

Holy shit, DotEmu is saving Metal Slug with the series' first significant new 2D art in 20 years!! I love the small details in the environments, like the billboards for KoF '98 & NeoGeo, the Nazca Supply Co buildings, storefronts that match those in the original games, and more. I think this is my favourite surprise of e3 so far this year. Excellent work, team! Can't wait to see more!
cool thing about this opening is that they depict each member of the team (well besides Marco) with their given specialties as seen in Metal Slug 6 and 7...Eri was grenades, Fio with special weapons (though she didn't get a chance to fire lol) and Tarma riding Metal slugs lol
I need to know who did the music for this trailer. They managed to absolutely nail the unique vibe of the Neo Geo Era music and I can't wait to hear more.
At the very start I was skeptical how a run n' gun shooter can turn into the exact opposite, a tactical game, and still preserve its identity. After looking at the art style I was convinced. The graphics are so well made and the design so loyal to the original 90s arcade game, that this is definitely a Metal Slug game at heart.
Honestly the best thing outside of the Nintendo direct to come out of E3 2021 season. Love metal slug and has a great team behind it. I found my bath salts.
I only buy these types of games on the switch got Sor4 on there and tmnt will definitely be on there to so I don't see why not the switch is the best place to play these games for sure.

I'm glad they retained the pixel art of the original games. The 3D graphics of the "other game" just doesn't match the bar the original 2D games raised.

Every now and then I rewatch all the trailers for this game. Whenever it comes out, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!
The animation in the trailer makes me want a Metal Slug anime for Adult Swim, Netflix, or Hulu with that look. I need to learn how to make animations like that.

The 3 Fatal Fury animated films were legitimately good, shame we never got more anime based on SNK games like Metal Slug, Magician Lord or Samurai Shodown.

@@mpo48 Castlevania was cool. I have yet to watch seasons 3 and 4, but I can agree with not having an ultra violent take on the franchise. I still would like the director of a Metal Slug animated series to embrace the cartoony aspects of the series without making it super violent.

Holy shit, DotEmu is saving Metal Slug with the series' first significant new 2D art in 20 years!! I love the small details in the environments, like the billboards for KoF '98 & NeoGeo, the Nazca Supply Co buildings, storefronts that match those in the original games, and more.
I think this is my favourite surprise of e3 so far this year. Excellent work, team! Can't wait to see more!
cool thing about this opening is that they depict each member of the team (well besides Marco) with their given specialties as seen in Metal Slug 6 and 7...Eri was grenades, Fio with special weapons (though she didn't get a chance to fire lol) and Tarma riding Metal slugs lol

I need to know who did the music for this trailer. They managed to absolutely nail the unique vibe of the Neo Geo Era music and I can't wait to hear more.
At the very start I was skeptical how a run n' gun shooter can turn into the exact opposite, a tactical game, and still preserve its identity. After looking at the art style I was convinced. The graphics are so well made and the design so loyal to the original 90s arcade game, that this is definitely a Metal Slug game at heart.
Everyone's saying it needs to be on switch, but I'd just like to specify that it needs a _physical_ switch release. 👉
